  • This paper proposes a Voice Activity Detection (VAD) algorithm based on Radial Basis Function (RBF) network using dual threshold. The k-means clustering and Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm are used to upade the RBF network to the underlying speech condition. The inputs for RBF are the three parameters in a Code Exited Linear Prediction (CELP) coder, which works stably under various background noise levels. Dual hangover threshold applies in BRF-VAD for reducing error, because threshold value has trade off effect in VAD decision. The experimental result show that the proposed VAD algorithm achieves better performance than G.729 Annex B at any noise level.

  • Recently, the requirements of large-dynamic management systems are increasing in multi-PC convergence environment because such system are out. In this research, it has been studied that the regression algorithm was applied instantly for abnormal state and the priority threshold process module was implemented. The system was optimized and become efficiently through the software design and implementation for multi-PC management. As a result, it has been possible for least person and system to manage a lot of requirements.

  • The electrical, morphological, and mechanical properties of poly carbonate (PC)/multi-walled carbon nan-otube (MWNT) composites were studied by electrical conductivity, electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE), scanning electron microscopy, and tensile strength measurements. In the electrical property analysis of the PC/MWNT composites, the percolation threshold of the PC/MWNT composites was observed between 1.5 and 2.5 wt% MWNT content. From the electrical conductivity and EMI SE studies, the theoretical values of the EMI SE were in good agreement with the experimental values of the EMI SE. From the morphology of the PC/MWNT composites, it was observed that MWNT is dispersed homogenously in the PC matrix. From the electrical conductivity and morphological studies, it was suggested that the percolation threshold of the PC/MWNT composites is related with the morphological results in that MWNT is apparently interconnected to form an electrical pathway. The mechanical properties of the PC/MWNT composites peaked at the MWNT content of 2.5 wt%.

  • MBE (multi-band excitation) coder can achieve high qualify synthetic speech below 4.0 kbps. There are, however, significant differences of the fine structure between the original spectrum and the synthetic spectrum. They are mainly due to the exclusive partition of voiced and unvoiced regions in frequency domain and the decision procedure based on the experimental threshold. This paper proposes MMBE (mixed multi-band excitation) speech model to overcome drawbacks of a MBE coder. In addition, two analysis methods, which do not need my decision procedure based on a threshold, are presented. Both voiced and unvoiced components can be mixed over all the frequency axis in the MMBE speech model. To illustrate the potential of the proposed speech model, we develop a 2.6 kbps MMBE coder and compare it with a 2.9 kbps MBE coder by both objective and subjective methods. The results have shown that the proposed coder has a better performance even at a lower bit-rate compared with the MBE coder.

  • In this paper, we propose the acquisition method of the Cyclic-Prefix CDMA using Good-Autocorrelation-Sequence (GAS-CP-CDMA) system. The sequences for GAS-CP-CDMA are m-sequence and constant amplitude zero autocorrelation code (CAZAC) with good autocorrelation property. The GAS-CP-CDMA system is proposed for interference cancellation in multi-user and -path environment in co-cell. However, the reliable initial acquisition in multi-path fading channel and multi-user system environment is crucial. In this paper, non-coherent power detector and threshold value are used for discriminating signal acquisition. The sequence used for computer simulation is CAZAC. The simulation results show proper threshold value depends on the number of users. Through the computer simulation, we draw setting up method of the optimum threshold value for the GAS-CP-CDMA system.

  • General watermarking techniques tend not to consider intrinsic characteristics of image, so that watermarks are embeded to entire images. In this paper, we present a watermarking algorithm based on wavelet domain, and the watermark is embedded into large coefficients in region of interest(ROI) being based on principle of multi-threshold watermark coding(MTWC) for robust watermark insertion. We try to accomplish both image duality and robustness using human visual system(HVS). The watermarks are embedded in middle frequency bands because the distortion degree of watermarked images appears to be less than lower frequency bands, and the embedded watermarks in the middle bands showed high extraction ratios after some distortion. The watermarks are consisted of pseudo random sequences and detected using Cox's similarity mesurement.

  • Recently Wireless communication among short-distance devices has come to notice due to smart phone generalization recently. However, instead of setting up additional H/W, communication technology providing wireless communication based on S/W is in need due to limited availability of NFC's use. Accordingly, short-distance wireless communication technology that makes great use of mike and speaker which installed in every device draws attention. Our thesis suggests improvement of acoustic transmission speed by applying multi-channel parallel transmission and advancement of transmission rate that differed from each mike's own characteristics through optimizing adaptive threshold. The study is not only just applied in specific and limited conditions such as promoting corporation and payments system but also fast and convenient data transmit system general users-oriented.

  • The coefficients of variation obtained from three typical vegetation indices of eight levels of multi-spatial resolution images in urban areas were employed to identify the optimum spatial resolution in terms of maintaining information quality. These multi-spatial resolution images were prepared by degrading 1 meter simulated, 16 meter ADEOS/AVNIR, and 30 meter Landsat-TM images. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Perpendicular Vegetation Index (PVI) and Soil Adjusted Ratio Vegetation Index (SARVI) were applied to reduce data redundancy and compare the characteristics of multi-spatial resolution image of vegetation indices. The threshold point on the curve of the coefficient of variation was defined as the optimum resolution level for the analysis with multi-spatial resolution image sets. Also, the results from the image segmentation approach of region growing to extract man-made features were compared with these multi-spatial resolution image sets.

  • In current public blockchain, any node can see every blocks, so that public blockchain provider transparent property. However, some application requires the confidential information to be stored in the block. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-layer blockchain that have the public block layer and the private block for confidential information. This paper suggests the requirement for encryption of private block. Also, this paper shows the t-of-n threshold cryptosystem without dealer who is trusted third party. Finally proposed scheme satisfies the requirements for encryption and fairness.

  • We present two methods for the automatic selection of the threshold values in unsupervised change detection. Both methods consist of the same two procedures: 1) to determine the parameters of Gaussian mixtures from a difference image or ratio image, 2) to determine threshold values using the Bayesian rule for minimum error. In the first method, the Expectation-Maximization algorithm is applied for estimating the parameters of the Gaussian mixtures. The second method is based on the iterative thresholding that successively employs thresholding and estimation of the model parameters. The effectiveness and applicability of the methods proposed here are illustrated by an experiment on the multi-temporal KOMPAT-1 EOC images.
