This paper presents the research of Low Pass Filter(hereinafter called "LPF") which is the part of Chopper Gate Control Unit on the electric rolling stock. Chopper Gate Control Unit controling the propulsive equipments of electric rolling stock consists of several electronic parts, PCB, Power Supply, Gate Circuit Amp, Freon Cooling Device, and has been used the parts made by japan manufacturer Mitsubish. But these parts recently have been more broken down and slow down performance because of long-term use, deterioration. Most of the malfunctions are low performance of LPF. Furthermore, it is physically impossible to repair LPF. Because it is molding type part and no longer manufactured. Also it needs high cost for custom-building. Therefore, it is now making up for through self-developed LPF and operating on Busan metro 1st after on-board testing. This research performed the PS Pice simulation testing, analysis of self-developed LPF performance and the wave form characteristic by multi-function synthesizer, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope.

Recently, Li-ion battery is regarded as a potential energy storage device in the lime light and it can supply power to the satellite very effectively during eclipse. Because it has better features as high voltage range, large capacity and small volume than any other battery. Generally, multi cells are connected in series to use Li-ion batteries in satellite application. Since the internal resistance of cells is different each other, voltage in some cells can be overcharged or undercharged, so capacity of the cell is reduced and the life of whole battery pack is decreased. Therefore, a voltage balancing circuit with Fly-back converter is proposed and the voltage equalization of each cell is verified the prototype in this paper.

Generally, the satellite circling round in a low orbit goes through Van Allen belt connecting with the magnetic fold, in which electronic components are easily damaged and shortened by charged particles moving in a cycle between the South Pole and the North Pole. In particular, Single Event Upset(SEU) by radiation could cause electronic device on satellite to malfunction. Based on the idea mentioned above, this study considersabout SEU effect on the On-board Computer(OBC) of STSAT-1 in the space environment radiation, and shows algorithm to cope with SEUs. In this experiment, it also is shown that the repetitive memory read/write operation called memory wash is needed to prevent the accumulation of SEUs and the choice for the period of memory wash is examined. In conclusion, it is expected that this research not only contributes to understand low capacity of On-board Computer(OBC) on Low Earth Orbit satellite(LEOS) and SaTReC Technology satellite(STSAT) series, but also makes good use of each module development of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite(COMPSAT) series.

This paper presents the design of a computer-generated hologram for beam control of an LCOS-based wavelength selective switch, which is the core technology for next-generation ROADM. By introducing a computer-generated hologram instead of general grating patterns to control the LCOS device, we contribute to building a more efficient wavelength selective switch. With the use of phase modulation properties of LCOS devices, we designed the hologram for five-port output and a 40-channel wavelength selective switch. We applied a multi-level phase modulation technique with the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm to produce the hologram, which is easily scalable to any different type of wavelength selective switch. With an experimental setup, we verified the usability of the hologram designed for five-port output. We also suggest a hologram design technique for beam control of a 40-channel wavelength selective switch.
N-Screen service has experienced rapid business expansion recently, since consumers' watching patterns have been diversified; also business stakeholders including broadcasting companies, internet service providers, and device manufacturers have joined this field. In order to operate N-Screen service in a stable manner, development of advertisement system where it generates continuous advertisement profit is needed. Especially for a streaming service that delivers live TV programs, the new advertising system has to deliver ads in conjunction with the live streaming system that is in use. In this paper, video advertising system that is congenial to N-Screen is proposed. Both real time video/ad converting scheme and direct video ads delivery function were developed and tested. In addition, ad contents management and statistics management functions have been developed for advertisement managers. This system was implemented in a commercial N-Screen service and it is currently being used for delivering video advertisements.
In order to meet the requirements of faster speed and higher packing density for devices in the field of semiconductor manufacturing, the development of Cu/Low k device material is explored for use in multi-layer interconnection. SiOC(-H) thin films containing alkylgroup are considered the most promising among all the other low k candidate materials for Cu interconnection, which materials are intended to replace conventional Al wiring. Their promising character is due to their thermal and mechanical properties, which are superior to those of organic materials such as porous $SiO_2$, SiOF, polyimides, and poly (arylene ether). SiOC(-H) thin films containing alkylgroup are generally prepared by PECVD method using trimethoxysilane as precursor. Nano voids in the film originating from the sterichindrance of alkylgroup lower the dielectric constant of the film. In this study, methyltriphenylsilane containing bulky substitute was prepared and characterized by using NMR, single-crystal X-ray, GC-MS, GPC, FT-IR and TGA analyses. Solid-state NMR is utilized to investigate the insoluble samples and the chemical shift of $^{29}Si$. X-ray single crystal results confirm that methyltriphenylsilane is composed of one Si molecule, three phenyl rings and one methyl molecule. When methyltriphenylsilane decomposes, it produces radicals such as phenyl, diphenyl, phenylsilane, diphenylsilane, triphenylsilane, etc. From the analytical data, methyltriphenylsilane was found to be very efficient as a CVD or PECVD precursor.
Providing a customer with tailored location-based services (LBSs) is a fundamental problem. For location-estimation techniques with radio-based measurements, LBS applications are widely available for mobile devices (MDs), such as smartphones, enabling users to run multi-task applications. LBS information not only enables obtaining the current location of an MD but also provides real-time push-pull communication service. For indoor environments, localization technologies based on radio frequency (RF) pattern-matching approaches are accurate and commonly used. However, to survey radio information for pattern-matching approaches, a considerable amount of time and work is spent in indoor environments. Consequently, in order to reduce the system-deployment cost and computing complexity, this article proposes an indoor positioning approach, which involves using Asus Xtion to facilitate capturing RF signals during an offline site survey. The depth information obtained using Asus Xtion is utilized to estimate the locations and predict the received signal strength (RF information) at uncertain locations. The proposed approach effectively reduces not only the time and work costs but also the computing complexity involved in determining the orientation and RF during the online positioning phase by estimating the user's location by using a smartphone. The experimental results demonstrated that more than 78% of time was saved, and the number of samples acquired using the proposed method during the offline phase was twice as much as that acquired using the conventional method. For the online phase, the location estimates have error distances of less than 2.67 m. Therefore, the proposed approach is beneficial for use in various LBS applications.

Mobile games have emerged as the most innovative entertainment technology, adding new revenue streams, taking advantage of the potential of wireless applications and service offerings. Mobile games, like any other types of computer game, offer a unique value for users in providing an exciting digital experience in virtual worlds. Players can become empowered through the development of new characters and strategies within games to achieve rewarding successes against the computers and other players. The overall trend for mobile games is towards bigger, more colorful, more involving and exciting contents, which will build upon the developing capabilities of mobile phones and networks in order to bring new styles, concepts and experiences of game play to the users. In this paper, we attempt to investigate the demographic factors which play critical roles in determining the level of playing times; classify mobile gamers based on their motives for playing games; and empirically test differences in their demographic factors and mobile game usage. Statistical results show that significant differences in playing times exist, depending upon their age, gender, mobile device, mobile phone usage, mobile game experiences, and preferred games genres. Applying Factor analysis, we have identified Escape, Social interaction, Challenge and Competition, Fantasy, Diversion and Relaxation, Ease of Accessibility as key motivators for playing mobile games. Additional cluster analysis shows that the categorization of gamers, according to their usage habits and the key motivators for playing, can be made as follows: M-gamers, Multi-gamers and Communication-focused gamers. Further correlation of these grouping with socio-economic data shows the significant differences in gaming habits and patterns of mobile phone use.

In this paper, we have proposed gigabit serial transceiver based on backplane architecture at the satellite communication digital transponder. The transponder supports the full combinational switching function with broadband multi-channel using programmable device - Xilinx space-grade Virtex-5 FPGA. In order to implement the switching function, GTX transceiver solution inside Virtex-5 FPGA is used. Also hardware implementation is simple because of no additional component. In order to use a GTX transceiver, signal integrity(SI) simulation of PCB design is essential. We investigate the characteristics of the S-parameter, eye diagram, channel jitter of GTX transmission line and conform that GTX Transceiver operates without error. Finally the proposed PCB design will be utilized at satellite communication digital transponder EQM-2(Engineering Qualification Model-2).
