This study describes a theoretical analysis for the wall temperature of ceramic filter trap and pressures of inlet and outlet channel in the filter trap. In this study, the maximum wall temperature through filter trap length with time during the regeneration period showed a tendency moving from forward to backward. The pressure change of filter trap increased at the initial combustion but decreased with the combustion to be activated. So the pressure difference between initial and end regeneration at the inlet channel showed about 2kPa. The thermal regeneration period of this filter trap in the theoretical analysis showed about 200seconds in which the wall temperature was similar to the case of initial condition and the pressure showed about 1 kPa.

Sedimentation is treated as the most important unit process in waterworks, and plays great role on turbidity removal efficiency. Rectangle sedimentation basin is the most widely accepted sedimentation process. But it has some problems with short-circuit flow and density flow caused by temperature and influent turbidity variation. To solve these problems, installation of rectification wall was suggested, but not generally fully accepted in field. Because hole of rectification wall cause jet flow. In this research, use of moving baffle was investigated. Moving baffle was designed to induce uniform velocity at every section of water flow. The baffle walls was made from soft fiber materials. The baffle walls with flow of sedimentation basin moves at same speed. It is like that it controls density flow and short-circuit flow and induce uniform velocity at every section of water flow in sedimentation basin. When moving baffle was operated retention time of sedimentation basin was extended to 1 hours. When it talked again and the effluent time of highest concentration of the chlorine ion from 100 minutes was extended to 160 minutes. Turbidity removal efficiency was tested with different operation modes(continuous and batch) with influent turbidity and retention time. It was revealed that turbidity removal efficiency carl be improved up to 36%(continuous mode) and 58%(batch mode) respectively. Consequently if moving baffle introduces in Rectangle sedimentation basin, it forecasts that the turbidity improvement above 30% will be possible.
In the Western and Oriental architecture, corridor and stairs have not been important from the whole architectural composition. The purpose of this study is to analyze their elements from theoretical viewpoint of modern architecture. The subject of analysis are Yangjindang and Daesanru of the Mid-Chosun Dynasty in Sangju. The conclusions are the followings : First, the moving line in the Western and Oriental architecture has the linear axis, and in general moving axis is straighten in Hanok architecture. But unlike common traditional architecture, the two buildings are right-angled in the moving axies. Second, Toenmaru in Yangjindang is the element of visual experience in the whole architectural space as promenade architecture called by Le Corbusier. On the other hand, Toenmaru in Daesanru plays a role the space of thinking in extending a visual field to the nature than its pure function. Third, the stairs of Yangjindang is diagonal shape with a role of entrance, but that of Daesanru was concealed in the wall as interior step. Yangjindang has two different stairs. One is broad and shallow stairs with ceremonial or public expression, and the other is narrow and steep stairs with unstable or private expression. This paper intends to show the latent architectural possibility of our traditional architecture.

This paper addresses a method for numerical simulation in the pressing process of hot glass. Updated Lagrangian finite element formulations are employed for the flow and energy equations to accommodate moving meshes. The model is assumed axi-symmetric and creep flow is assumed due to the high viscosity. Commercial software ANSYS is used to solve the coupled flow and energy equations. Moving contact points as well as free surface during the pressing are effectively calculated and updated by utilizing API functions of CAD software Unigraphics. The mesh distortion problem near the wall is overcome by automatic remeshing, and the temperatures of the new mesh are conveniently interpolated by using a unique function of ANSYS. The developed model is applied to the pressing process of TV glasses. In conclusion, the presented method shows that the pressing process accompanying moving boundary can be simulated by effectively combining general purpose software without resorting to special dedicated codes.

The aerodynamic characteristics of circular cylinder in a channel are studied to make clear the flow feature by solving the Navier-Stokes equation based on the finite volume method with unstructured grids. Reviews are made on with the vorticity, velocity, dynamic pressure, residual and drag, where the Reynolds numbers are 50 and 100. The flows for $Re{\succeq}50$ shows the vortex shedding in the wake, and the result is the same as the case of moving cylinder. The ground effect of flat bottom results in the growth of vortex, being generated in the upper side of the cylinder and elongated in the rear. As the cylinder approaches to wall, for example 0.6, the cylinder plays as a role of blockage to obstruct the flow between the cylinder and wall. The drag coefficients are compared with others' results to confirm the validity of the present numerical simulation.

In this study steady state solutions of cavity flows driven by two moving walls are studied. The north and east walls of the cavity are movable where as the remaining two walls are fixed in space. Numerical experiments for three different driving schemes for moving walls are done at two different Reynolds numbers of Re=40 and 400. The first scheme is to accelerate north and east walls simultaneously. In the second one, the north wall is started first and the east wall is accelerated later. In the third one the east wall starts first. It is usually expected that all these three cases yield the same steady state solution after sufficiently long time. However, present numerical experiments show that such a usual belief is valid only when the Reynolds number is low enough (Re=40). At higher Reynolds number (Re=400), the flow develops to three different steady states depending on the history of the boundary condition change.
The walls of all higher plants are organized as a cellulosic, fibrillar phase embedded in a matrix phase composed of non-cellulosic polysaccharides, some proteins and, in most secondary walls, lignin. At the effective utilization of plant biomass, qualitative and quantitative analyses of plant cell walls are essential. Structural features of individual components are being clarified using newly developed equipments and techniques. However, "empirical" procedures to elucidate plant cell walls, which are not due to scientific definition of components, are still applied in some fields. These procedures may give misunderstanding for the effective utilization of plant biomass. In addition, interesting the investigation of wall organization is moving towards not only qualitatively characterisation, but also quantitation of the associations between wall components. These involve polysaccharide-polysaccharide and polysaccharide-lignin cross-links. Investigation of the associations is being done in order to understand the chemical structure, organization and biosynthesis of the cell wall and physiology of the plants. Procedures for qualitative and quantitative analyses based on the definition of cell wall components are reviewed focussing in nutritional elucidation of forage grasses by ruminant microorganisms.

An experiment was conducted to investigate whether an equation of heat transfer coefficient derived form energy equation of two-phase plug flow can be actually applied to the industrial field. The heat is constantly transfered to the sand beds from the wall of heat exchanger while the sand moves down through cylindrical heat exchanger by gravity from feed hooper. To increase heat transfer, turbulators such as glass ball and steel pipe packings were used. In addition, the experiment in the case of fluidizing the sand beds was also carried out. The temperatures of the sand beds and the wall were measured along the heat exchanger axis. The density and porosity of the sand beds were also measured. The deviations of the mean velocity of sands from the velocity on the wall surface because of the slip conditions on the wall were negligible (within 3%). The heat transfer coefficients when the turbulators were used and when the sand beds were fluidized were found to be much greater than those of the plain plug flow.

In this paper, a dynamic centrifuge model test was conducted on a 24.8-meter-deep excavation consisting of a 20 m sand layer and 4.8 m bedrock, classified as S3 by Korean seismic design code KDS 17 10 00. A braced excavation wall supports the hole. From the results, the mechanism of seismically induced earth pressure was investigated, and their distribution and loading points were analyzed. During earthquake loadings, active seismic earth pressure decreases from the at-rest earth pressure since the backfill laterally expands at the movement of the wall toward the active direction. Yet, the passive seismic earth pressure increases from the at-rest earth pressure since the backfill pushes to the wall and laterally compresses at it, moving toward a passive direction and returning to the initial position. The seismic earth pressure distribution shows a half-diamond distribution in the dense sand and a uniform distribution in loose sand. The loading point of dynamic thrust corresponding with seismic earth pressure is at the center of the soil backfill. The dynamic thrust increased differently depending on the backfill's relative density and input motion type. Still, in general, the dynamic thrust increased rapidly when the maximum horizontal displacement of the wall exceeded 0.05 H%.
This paper provides a method for generating flight path of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that is intended to be used in visual inspection of dome-type nuclear containment building. The method basically employs 3-D model to extract accurate location coordinates. Two basic route patterns that provide guide lines in defining moving locations were defined for each side wall and dome section of the containment. The route patterns support sequential capturing of images as well. In addition, several simple equations and an algorithm for calculation of the moving location on the route were developed on the basis of 3-D geometric characteristics of the containment building. A prototype computer program has been implemented to validate the proposed method, and a case study shows the method can visualize covering area in 3-D model as well.
