유한요소-경계요소 조합에 의한 터널의 3차원 동적해석 (Three dimensional dynamic analysis of underground tunnels by coupling of boundary and finite elements)

  • 지하터널은 그 경계가 반무한영역에서 설정되고 재료나 형상의 복잡성을 갖고 있기 때문에, 동적하중에 대하여 정확한 거동을 해석하기 위해서는 3차원 동적해석이 필요하다. 이때 일반적인 수치해석기법인 유한요소만을 이용한 방법은 인위적 경계에서의 파의 반사, 입력자료의 방대함 등으로 인하여 효율적이지 못하게 된다. 본 연구는 이러한 점을 고려하여 지하터널에 직접 가해지는 동적하중에 대한 효율적인 해석기법을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 개발된 프로그램에서 지반의 반무한성은 3차원 경계요소로 고려되었으며, 구조물에는 3차원 동적해석을 수행한 결과 기존의 2차원 터널해석에서 고려가 곤란했던 차량의 진행하중으로 인한 반복효과가 합리적으로 반영되는 것으로 분석되었다.

Aerodynamics of High Speed Trains Passing by Each Other

  • A three-dimensional flow field induced by two trains passing by each other inside a tunnel is studied based on the numerical simulation of the three-dimensional compressible Euler/Navier-Stokes equations formulated in the finite difference approximation. Domain decomposition method with the FSA(fortified solution algorithm) interface scheme is used to treat this moving-body problem. The computed resluts show basic characteristic of the flow field created when two trains passing by each other. History of the pressure distributions and the aerodynamic forces acting on the trains are mailnly discussed. The results indicate that the phenomenon is complicated due to the interaction of the flow induced by two trains. Strong side force occurs between the two trains when the front portion of the opposite train passes by. It fluctuates rapidly and maximum suction force occurs when two trains are aligned side by side. The results also indicate the effectiveness of the present numerical method for moving boundary problems.

Experimental and numerical studies on super-cavitating flow of axisymmetric cavitators

  • Recently underwater systems moving at high speed such as a super-cavitating torpedo have been studied for their practical advantage of the dramatic drag reduction. In this study we are focusing our attention on super-cavitating flows around axisymmetric cavitators. A numerical method based on inviscid flow is developed and the results for several shapes of the cavitator are presented. First using a potential based boundary element method, we find the shape of the cavtiator yielding a sufficiently large enough cavity to surround the body. Second, numerical predictions of supercavity are validated by comparing, with experimental observations carried out in a high speed cavitation tunnel at Chungnam National University (CNU CT).

유한 요소법을 이용한 비행기 엔진 입구 음향장 해석 (An Analysis of Aircraft Engine Inlet Acoustic Fields by using Finite Element Method)

  • Internal and external acoustic fields of the engine inlet are calculated by using a finite element method. The far fields non reflecting boundary condition is enforced by using a wave envelope element, which is a kind of infinite element. The geometry is assumed an axisymetric duct. Sources of the fan are modeled by the Tyler and Sofrin's theory. Effects of uniformly moving medium are considered. A pulsating sphere and an oscillating piston problem are calculated to verify the external problems, and compared with exact solutions. When the wave envelope element is applied at the far boundary, the calculated finite element solutions show good agreements with the exact solutions. The engine inlet is solved with the combined internal and external grid. The cut-off phenomena on engine inlet duct are observed.

초음속 노즐 내부 유동장의 가열에 의한 천이 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Transient Characteristics of Flow Caused by Heat Addition in Supersonic Nozzle)

  • This study presents numerical solutions of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations for supersonic unsteady flow in a convergent-divergent nozzle with heat addition. The TVD scheme in generalized coordinates is employed in order to calculate the moving shock waves caused by thermal choking. We discuss on transient characteristics, start and unstart phenomena, fluctuations of specific thrust caused by thermal choking and viscous effects. We prove that the control of separation of boundary layer is the most important key problem to prevent the thermal choking.

  • 압력이 차 있는 백이 물에 부분적으로 잠겨서 동요하고 있을 때의 유체역학적 문제가 다루어졌다. 쌍동형 공기부양선(SES)의 선미에는 공기의 유출을 막기위해 공기압이 채워진 백을 설치하고 있는데, 백에 의한 힘이 종동요에 큰 영향을 미친다. 백의 모양은 안과 밖의 압력차에 의해서 결정되므로, 유체동압력을 구하면 백의 모양을 알 수 있는데, 백의 모양변화를 알아야지만 유체동압력을 구할 수가 있다. 따라서 백 표면에서의 경계조건의 형태는 자유표면 경계와 더불어서 움직이는 경계가 된다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제를 정식화하고 선형화를 하였다. 또한 백이 동요할 때의 방사문제에 대한 계산예를, 백을 강체로 가정했을 때의 비교하여, 보여주고 있다. 여러가지의 백내의 압력값, 또 물에 잠긴 깊이에 대해서 계산이 이루어졌다.

쿨롬 법칙과 영상법을 이용한 와전류 브레이크의 제동토크 해석 (The Braking Torque Analysis of Eddy Current Brake with the Use of Coulomb′s law and the Method of Image)

  • Since the eddy current problem usually depends on the geometry of the moving conductive sheet and the shape of the pole projection area, there is no general method to find out its analytical solution. The analysis of the eddy current in a rotating disk is performed in the case of time-invariant field to find its analytical solution. As a method to solve the eddy current problem, the concept of the Coulomb charge and image method are proposed with the consideration of the boundary condition. Firstly, the line charge is obtained from the volume charge generated in the rotating disk and Coulomb's law is applied. Secondly, the finite disk radius is considered by introducing an imaginary eddy current to satisfy the boundary condition that the radial component of the eddy current is zero at the edge of the relating disk. Thirdly, the braking torque is calculated by applying Lorentz force law. Finally, the computed braking torque is compared with the measured one As a result, it can be said that the proposed model presents fairly accurate results in a low angular velocity range although a large error is observed as the angular velocity of the disk increases.

댐 붕괴에 의한 토양 거동 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of Soil Behavior due to Dam Break Using Moving Particle Simulation)

  • A Lagrangian approach based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate large and/or sharp deformations and fragmentations of interfaces, including free surfaces, through tracing each particle with physical quantities. According to the concept of the particle-based CFD method, it is possible to apply it to both fluid particles and solid particles such as sand, gravel, and rock. However, the presence of more than two different phases in the same domain can make it complicated to calculate the interaction between different phases. In order to solve multiphase problems, particle interaction models for multiphase problems, including surface tension, buoyancy-correction, and interface boundary condition models, were newly adopted into the moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method. The newly developed MPS method was used to simulate a typical validation problem involving dam breaking. Because the soil and other particles, excluding the water, may have different viscosities, various viscosity coefficients were applied in the simulations for validation. The newly developed and validated MPS method was used to simulate the mobile beds induced by broken dam flows. The effects of the viscosity on soil particles were also investigated.

  • 본 연구에서는 IBPR 방법을 바탕으로 캐비티형상이 동일평면상에 있지 않은 경우에 대한 준3차원 유동해석과 주입기구가 있는 경우에 대한 유동해석을 별도로 수 행하여 실험결과와 비교하였다.해석결과는 실험과 잘 일치하였으며 그를 통해 앞서 개발한 IBRP방법이 보다 일반적인 경우에서의 캐비티 유동해석으로 확장, 응용될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

입자법을 이용한 댐 붕괴의 수치 시뮬레이션 (NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF DAM-BROKEN PROBLEMS USING A PARTICLE METHOD)

  • A particle method recognized as one of the gridless methods has been developed to investigate the nonlinear free-surface motions interacting to the structures. The method is more feasible and effective than convectional grid methods for solving the non-linear free-surface motion with complicated boundary shapes. The right-handed side of the governing equations for incompressible fluid, which includes gradient, viscous and external force terms, can be replaced by the particle interaction models. In the present study, the developed method is applied to the dam-broken problem on dried- and wet-floor and its adequacy will be discussed by the comparison with the experimental results.
