  • It is necessary to quantitatively evaluate the workload of workers in order to improve the level of safety and efficiency as well as to prevent workers from musculoskeletal disorders. The purpose of this study is to introduce biomechanical methods that are largely used to quantitatively evaluate workload. The biomechanical methods use kinematics and kinetics to analyze the movement and force of biomechanical body. Motion analysis, joint angle measurement, ground reaction force, mathematical model, and electromyography (EMG) were introduced as a tool or device for biomechanical evaluation. In this study, the special feature of each method was emphasized and important tips for field measurement were summarized. The information and technique disclosed in this summary can be used to evaluate and design the workplace better by effectively control the workload of field workers.

  • A 6-DOF precision stage was developed based on parallel kinematics structure with flexure hinges to eliminate backlash, stick-slip and friction and to minimize parasitic motion coupled with motions in the other-axis directions. For the stage, lever linkage mechanism was devised to reduce the height of system for the enhancement of horizontal stiffness. Frequency response comparison between experimental results and mathematical model extracted from dynamics of the stage was performed to identify the system parameters such as spring constants and damping coefficients of actuation modules, which cannot be calculated accurately by analytic methods owing to their complicated structures. This newly developed precision stage and its identified model will be very useful for precision positioning and control because of its high accuracy and non-coupled movement.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three visual conditions (eyes opened, eyes closed, and wearing of a head mounted display [HMD]) on single-leg standing through kinematics and kinetic analysis. Method: Twelve college students (age: $24.5{\pm}2.6years$, height: $175.0{\pm}6.4cm$, weight: $69.2{\pm}5.1kg$) participated in this study. The study method adopted three-dimensional analysis with six cameras and ground reaction force measurement with one force plate. The analysis variables were coefficient of variation (CV) of the center of body mass, head movement, ground reaction force, and center of pressure, which were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance with repeated measures according to visual conditions. Results: In most cases, the results of this study showed that the CV was significantly higher in the order of HMD wearing, eyes closed, and eyes opened conditions. Conclusion: Our results indicated that body sway was the largest in the HMD wearing condition, and the risk of falling was high owing to the low stability.

  • In this paper, kinematic analysis for a planar 3-DOF redundant stage which has four actuators is presented by using SimMechanics software package. SimMechanics is a block sets of the Matlab/Simulink package. The SimMechanics enables a simplified model for a complex kinematic mechanism, since kinematic relationship between joints and linkages for the kinematic chains are expressed as line vectors and block diagrams. Here, positional error and limit values of movement ranges of the stage are evaluated by using the SimMechanics. The validity of the kinematic characteristics model was compared with theoretical kinematic analyses for the 3-DOF stage.

  • In this paper, the trajectory needed to be tracked by the manipulator was defined in a new plot differently from conventional methods. And the trajectory provides Solution directly related to coordinates of output variables from the plant. So, it overcomes nonlinearity between joint and Cartesian coordinates in movement mode and it makes use of inverse Kinematics unnecessary, which was obstacle for real-time control. The 2-axis SCARA robot was modelled and simulation was performed to validate in this paper. And it proved this has better performance in rapidity and decrease of position-error, compared to the conventional FLCs.

  • One of the most important feature of the Mobile Manipulator is redundant freedom. Using the redundant freedom, Mobile Manipulator can move various mode, perform dexterous motion. In this paper, to improve robot job ability, as two robots perform a job in co-operation control, we studied optimal position and posture of Mobile Manipulator with minimum movement of each robot joint. Kinematics of mobile robot and task robot is solved. Using mobility of Mobile robot, weight vector of robots is determined. Using Gradient methode, global motion trajectory is minimized. so the job which Mobile Manipulator perform is optimized. The proposed algorithm is verified with PURL-II which is Mobile Manipulator combined Mobile robot and task robot. and discussed the result.

  • Through the single head kinematics, sliding distance is a movement of a pad within wafer. The sliding distance is very important to frictional heat, material removal, and so on. A Temperature distribution is similar to sliding distance. But is not same. Because of complex process factor in CMP. A platen velocity is a dominant factor in a temperature and material removal. WIWNU is low in head faster condition.

  • In order to study the correlation between the pilot's cognitive ability and recovery ability by applying a physical element that can cause spatial loss of position to the pilot, a turntable was installed on the top of the motion system to give a quantitative rotational error. We propose a method of simulating flight movement to reduce a difference in feeling and an intuitive method of forward kinematic analysis.

  • The kinematic variables for swimming and fin-swimming start motions were analyzed and compared using 3-dimensional cinematography. For the swimming start, the arm segment moved towards the upper rear and trunk towards the upper front followed by a descent towards the lower front, while the fin-swimming start motion showed movement towards the lower front for all segments. The total body center of gravity for the swimming start showed horizontal movement far to the front followed by a rapid descent while the fin-swimming start showed close movement towards the lower front in a short period of time. Upon entering the water, the center of gravity for swimming showed high vertical velocities while fin swimming had high horizontal velocities. For both swimming and fin swimming, the upper extremity velocity had more influence on the total center of gravity velocity than the lower extremities. Flexion of the hip joint was observed before the jump for the fin swimming start while the swimming start showed two flexions in mid-air succeeding the jump. The flexion and extension movements at the knee joint during the fin-swimming start motion were shown to be larger and more rapid than those of fin-swimming.

  • This research sought to analyze the characteristics of breast movement at the treadmill activity levels. It also examined the effect of wearing a sports bra in reducing breast displacement. The subjects for the data collection were females in their 20s (n=2) with C-cup size breast. The experimental conditions were three different moving speeds (4 km/h, jogging: 7 km/h, and sprinting: 10 km/h) and two types of sports bras. Three dimensional breast displacement was measured. The displacement of the right nipple point was measured with a 3D motion analyzer. The results show that the breasts were greatly displaced from the walking speed (4 km/h) when subjects did not wear any bra. Whereas their breast displacement distance decreased remarkably when they wore sports bras. The nipple point moved 42~44 mm in the vertical direction at walking speed with naked condition. But it was reduced by 80% after wearing sports bras. When subjects running (7 km/h, 10 km/h) without any bra, the nipple point moved 122~141 mm. However it was reduced by 60~70% when they wore sports bras. The apartment time (time delay) between at the highest point of the upper body and the nipple was 0.25 seconds at the running speeds (7 km/h, 10 km/h) without wearing any bra. After wearing sports bras, the time delay was cut to 0.06~0.12 seconds. These results implies that without wearing any bra the skin surrounding the breasts might be seriously pulled at running activity. The functional sports bra suppress breast movement. It might prevent the sagging of breasts by preventing the damage of the Cooper's ligaments.
