Objectives: The purpose of the study is to examine the behaviors by the degree od dry mouth related to stress, dry mouth and halitosis. Methods: The subjects were 400 adults. A self-reported questionnaire was completed from August 1 to November 30, 2014. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of eight questions of general characteristics of the subjects, one question of subjective stress symptom, six questions of dry mouth symptom, four questions of dry mouth behavior, and one question of halitosis. Results: There was a significant difference between halitosis and stress in patients having systemic diseases. Stress had a significant difference with gender, income, drinking frequency and alcohol consumption. The degree of dry mouth had a significant difference with gender and age. In dry mouth severity, behavior showed a significant difference with age, education, and times and amount of alcohol consumption. Age had a positive correlation with cigarette consumption and a negative correlation with dry mouth and dry mouth behavior. Cigarette consumption showed a positive correlation with alcohol consumption. Drinking frequency had a positive correlation with alcohol consumption, dry mouth, dry mouth behavior, halitosis and stress. Alcohol consumption had a positive correlation with dry mouth behavior, and dry mouth showed a positive correlation with dry mouth behavior, halitosis and stress. Dry mouth behavior had a positive correlation with halitosis and stress, while halitosis showed a positive correlation with stress. Conclusions: Stress, dry mouth and halitosis were closely correlated. Since stress is the most important variable, stress relief will be the most effective measure to alleviate oral symptoms. Therefore, stress relief measures need to be devised for oral health management in adults having stressful life.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of the Soeumin's Softness and Non-softness in the mouth(口中和, 口中不和). Methods We examined The Existing Doctors's using of the Softness and Non-softness in the mouth, and considered Jema Lee's using of the Softness and Non-softness in the mouth. Afterward, we considered the meaning of the Soeumin's Softness and Non-softness in the mouth in 『Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元)』. Results and Conclusion 1. Junggyeong Jang used the Softness in the mouth, and he didn't use the Non-softness in the mouth in 『Sanghanlun(傷寒論)』. 2. The Next Generation Doctors used the Softness in the mouth, and they didn't use the Non-softness in the mouth. Especially, Dongwon Lee used the Softness in the mouth as the Knowing the taste of food, and used the Non-softness in the mouth as the Non-knowing the taste of food. 3. Jema Lee used the Softness and Non-softness in the mouth as urgent indicator of the Soeumbyeong diarrhea in 『Gabobon(甲午本)』, and used the Softness and Non-softness in the mouth as classification indicator of the Taeeumbyeong and Soeumbyeong in 『Sinchuckbon(辛丑本)』. 4. The Non-softness in the mouth is Jema Lee's specific term. It means dry of mouth, thirsty and the Non-knowing the taste of food. 5. The change from the Non-softness to Softness in the mouth is recovery indicator of the Soeumin's disease. It is the basis for setting the Drinking water(能飮水) as the Soeumin's igiljeung(二吉證).

Purpose : This study was performed to understand the relationship between hand and mouth shapes using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI). Methods : Two healthy volunteers without any previous history of physical or neurological illness were recruited. fMRI was done that volunteers was 6 repeated of natural mouth, close mouth and open mouth while power grip and pinch grip movement. Results : Cerebral cortex activation was not well observed for the natural mouth during the power grip exercise. For the closed mouth, the temporal lobe, Broca's area, the prefrontal area related to thinking and judgment, the supplementary motor area, the auditory area and Wernicke's area were activated. For the open mouth, cortical activation was also observed in the temporal lobe, Wernicke's area, the prefrontal area related to thinking and the orbital frontal area related to visual sense. During the pinch grip exercise, cortical activation was observed for the natural mouth in the primary sensory area, Wernicke's area, the primary and supplementary motor area, and the prefrontal area. For the closed mouth, cortical activation was observed in the temporal lobe, Wernicke's area, the prefrontal area related to thinking, the secondary visual area, the primary sensory area and the supplementary motor area. In the case of the open mouth, cortical activation was observed in a few parts in the temporal lobe as well as Wernicke's area, the prefrontal area related to thinking, and other areas related to visual sense such as the primary visual area, the secondary visual area and the visual association area. Conclusion : Brain was more activation for close mouth and open mouth more than natural mouth movement.
There are many factors that affect speech intelligibility and speech acceptability. Structural anomalies and neuromotor pathologies are known for the reasons of abnormal speech sounds. And there are minor variations related to oral mechanism. Speaking with restricted mouth opening related to therapeutic procedure or habitual speech pattern might affect the quality of speech sounds. So this study compared speech intelligibility and speech acceptability of recorded 24 words in two conditions (restricted mouth opening condition and normal mouth opening condition) by 30 normal hearing adults. The results showed that speech intelligibility and speech acceptability were significantly lower in restricted mouth opening condition. And speech acceptability was significantly lower than speech intelligibility in restricted mouth opening condition. Speech acceptability in restricted mouth opening condition was significantly lower especially in open vowel. These findings indicated that the mouth opening condition could affect vowel shape and could be an adverse effect on speech intelligibility and speech acceptability.
Purpose Previous research on customer engagement in SNS marketing has mainly addressed the conceptualization of type of word-of-mouth messages. However, there is a lack of researches about the effect of the brand-page characteristics on the type of word-of-mouth messages. Therefore, this study examined the effect of brand-page characteristics in terms of the type of word-of-mouth messages as the main objective and the effect of the type of word-of-mouth messages in terms of the brand loyalty as the secondary objective in the context of Facebook. Design/methodology/approach The empirical research was based on a poll done through 400 research candidates in the Facebook and the final 342 responses were collected and used in statistical data analysis. The adaptability, trust, and validity to measurement model were verified and the structural relationship in the research model was analyzed through these 342 responses. The collected data verified hypotheses established using the SPSS statistical package and structural equation model using AMOS. Findings The results showed that the BP-information provision had a non-significant effect on the factual word-of-mouth message and a significant effect on the evaluative word-of-mouth message. The BP-reliability had a significant effect on the factual word-of-mouth message and the evaluative word-of-mouth message. The BP-entertainment had a significant effect on the factual word-of-mouth message and the evaluative word-of-mouth effect. The BP-interaction had a non-significant effect on the factual word-of-mouth message and the evaluative word-of-mouth message. Finally, the factual word-of-mouth message and the evaluative word-of-mouth message had a significant effect on the brand loyalty.
This model was empirically developed to test the effect of medical service quality and hospital's reputation on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth as to disease severity. The model was tested in the context of the hospital industry. The findings are as follows. First, medical service provider's functional quality and technical service quality have significant effect on customer satisfaction. Second, hospital's reputation has positive(+) effect on customer satisfaction and significant negative effect on negative word of mouth. Third, customer satisfaction with medical service quality has significantly positive effect on customer's repurchase intention and has negative(-) effect on customer's negative word of mouth. Furthermore, customer's negative word of mouth has negative effect on their repurchase intention. Fourth, as to different disease severity, medical service quality and hospital's reputation have different effect on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth. When patients get slightly ill, functional service quality and technical service quality have direct influence on customer satisfaction which has positive influence on repurchase intention and negative influence on negative word of mouth. Finally, negative word of mouth has negative effect on customer's repurchase intention. However, while hospital's reputation doesn't have effect on customer satisfaction, the reputation has significantly negative effect on negative word of mouth. When patients get seriously ill, only functional service quality has positive effect on customer satisfaction which influences on customer's repurchase intention and negatively influences on negative word of mouth. On the contrary, negative word of mouth doesn't influence on customer's repurchase intention as patients want to treat serious diseases in the large general hospitals even though negative word of mouth is known to them.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The nutrition of the elderly depends on various factors. Oral health, especially oral dryness, can be an important risk factor. In this study, we attempted to determine whether dry mouth is associated with compromised nutrient intakes. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 120 participants aged 65-86 yrs (mean age: 69 ± 1 y) were included in this study. Demographic and health-related characteristics, living status, meals, number of medications, medical conditions, chewing ability, and quality of life, the Oral Health Impact Profile (the OHIP-14) were assessed. We performed one day 24-hr recall assessment for nutrient analyses. The differences of the means between the dry-mouth and non-dry-mouth groups were analyzed. Elderly subjects with xerostomia-induced dry mouth were classified as those who reported at least one dryness symptom on a questionnaire. RESULTS: A significant difference in population distribution was observed among the elderly who took medications for hypertension, diabetes and osteoporosis and was significantly higher in the dry-mouth group (70.2%) than in the non-dry-mouth group (44.4%) (P = 0.005). Compared with the non-dry-mouth group (50.8%), a significantly higher proportion (73.7%) of participants in the dry-mouth group took multiple medicines (≥ 4 medications) (P = 0.019). The intakes of vegetable fat, vitamin E, folate and water in the dry-mouth group were lower than in the non-dry-mouth group. The intakes of fluoride and ω-3 fatty acids were significantly lower in the dry-mouth group than in the non-dry-mouth group. CONCLUSION: The participants in the dry-mouth group exhibited low nutrient and water intakes. It is recommended that the elderly with dry mouth should drink sufficient water and receive targeted and specific nutritional guidance to prevent malnutrition.

The purpose of this paper is to examine empirically how to balance advertising expenditure before and after launch with regard to the direction of word of mouth in the motion picture industry. The vector auto-regression model is applied to assess the dynamic impact of advertising and word of mouth on sales. Empirical data, including advertising, word of mouth, and sales (the number of entries) of 83 movies are used for analysis. The research results show that for a movie having more positive word of mouth in the pre- and post-launch periods, it is worthwhile to spend the advertising budget in the pre-launch period only and to spare it in post-launch period. However, it is worthwhile to spare the advertising budget in the pre-launch period for movies having less positive word of mouth before and after launch, and to concentrate spending in post-launch period instead. Mangers who handle products and services facing shortened lifecycles, such as games, eBooks, and digital music contents, need to check the quality of pre-launch word of mouth for their advertising budget decisions in the pre- and post-launch periods and spend more of the advertising budget in the post- (pre-) launch period if pre-launch word of mouth is negative (positive). For products and services with a shortened lifecycle, it is recommended to spend more of the advertising budget in the post- (pre-) launch period if pre-launch word of mouth is negative (positive).
