Background: Although orthostatic hypotension (OH) and cognitive impairment (CI) are common non- motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD), the relationship between OH and CI remains to be clarified. This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between OH and CI in PD. Methods: We recruited 192 patients who were diagnosed as PD based on the UK Brain Bank diagnostic criteria. The Hoehn & Yahr stages were ranged I to III and patients underwent extensive clinical evaluation, including brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for cerebral white matter hyperintensity (WMH), tilt table test, the Korean version of Montreal Cognitive Assessments and the Korean version of Mini-Mental Status Examination in one month from the first clinic visit. The participants were divided into two groups according to the presence of OH (OH+ vs. OH-) and cognitive function (cognitive normal, CN vs. CI), respectively. Results: Significant relationship between OH and cognitive function (p=0.04) was found in our patients. The patients with OH+ had higher risk of CI by 2.6 times than that of OH- patients. Maximum heart rate change during tilt table test was correlated with cognitive function and white matter changes, whereas blood pressure change during tilt table test showed no correlation with those parameters. Conclusions: There was significant relationship between OH and CI in PD. Therefore, PD patients with either symptom may need periodic evaluation and proper management for OH and cognitive functions.

In recent years, the demand for wireless devices incorporating several wireless communication systems into one has been increasing in order to provide services that meet the diverse needs of consumers. Wireless devices consisting of various wireless communication systems require many frequency fixed filters. A frequency tunable filter can replace a number of frequency fixed filters in the wireless devices. If a frequency tunable filter is used in wireless systems, the system can be configured more efficiently. In this paper, a 3-pole frequency tunable BPF(bandpass filter) operating in the frequency band of 800 ~ 2400MHz is designed. In order to widen the operating frequency band, a tuning screw is designed to have a step and a linear motor is used to facilitate the adjustment of the tuning screw. The implemented frequency tunable BPF operates in the designed frequency range and has the maximum insertion loss of 2.82dB in the channel band and the minimum attenuation of 18.7dB at ± 50MHz frequency offset from the center frequency of the band.

In this study, an anomaly detection (AD) algorithm was implemented to detect the failure of a marine air compressor. A lab-scale experiment was designed to produce fault datasets (time-series electric current measurements) for 10 failure modes of the air compressor. The results demonstrated that the temporal pattern of the datasets showed periodicity with a different period, depending on the failure mode. An AD model with a convolutional autoencoder was developed and trained based on a normal operation dataset. The reconstruction error was used as the threshold for AD. The reconstruction error was noted to be dependent on the AD model and hyperparameter tuning. The AD model was applied to the synthetic dataset, which comprised both normal and abnormal conditions of the air compressor for validation. The AD model exhibited good detection performance on anomalies showing periodicity but poor performance on anomalies resulting from subtle load changes in the motor.

In this paper, a flushing system with automatic opening and closing function of the toilet cover was studied. It works by an infrared sensor attached to the cover is detected or not. When the infrared sensor of the open function detects it, the servomotor is driven on the toilet cover to raise the cover, and when the infrared sensor with the close function detects the infrared sensor, the cover is set to be lowered. A tilt sensor is attached to the inside of the cover to operate when the cover goes down, and when this is activated, the servomotor connected to the toilet lever opens the stopper of the supply port and sends water down. In addition, we minimized the inconveniences for the next user when they use the toilet by using the non-contact water level sensor and LED function to notice the water is clogged during the flushing process. Also, we implemented UV-LED function to prevent bacterial growth while the toilet is closed.
Objectives: This study was conducted to develop the Mobility to Participation Assessment Scale for Stroke (MPASS) and assess its content validity, internal consistency, inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, and convergent validity in people with stroke living in the community. Methods: The MPASS was developed using published data on mobility-related activity and participation timing in elderly individuals, and then reviewed by community physical therapists. Content validity was established by reaching a consensus of experienced physical therapists in a focus group. The MPASS was scored for 32 participants with stroke (mean age 61.75±4.92 years) by 3 individual testers. Reliability was examined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), internal consistency using the Cronbach alpha coefficient (α), and convergent validity using the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) to compare the MPASS to the Modified Rivermead Mobility Index as a referent test of mobility. Results: The MPASS consists of 8 items, and its scoring system provides information on the ability of people with stroke to reach a movement level enabling them to live in society, including interactions with other people and safe living in the community. The interrater and intra-rater reliability were excellent (ICC, 0.948; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.893 to 0.982 and ICC, 0.967; 95% CI, 0.933 to 0.989, respectively). Internal consistency was good (α=0.877). The convergent validity was moderate (r=0.646; p<0.001). Conclusions: The newly developed MPASS showed acceptable construct validity and high reliability. The MPASS is suitable for use in people with stroke, especially those who have been discharged and live in the community with the ability to initiate sitting.

In this study, in order to improve the disadvantages of the environmental error of the infusion set that performs infusion therapy in the existing clinical practice and to maximize the user's convenience by miniaturizing the existing infusion pump system, the structure of the muscle pump of the human vein was imitated. As a double check valve method, a method for preventing the backflow of fluid and discharging a constant fluid in one direction by external pressure was proposed. The proposed bio-mimic muscle pump uses a check valve that controls the flow of fluid in one direction and a silicone tube with elasticity, and a chamber is constructed. A peristaltic pump for applying intermittent pressure to the tube chamber was constructed using a multi-cam structure roller. In order to verify the performance of the proposed pump, optimization was performed while changing the number of multi-cam rollers and adjusting the speed of the roller driving motor, and the reproducibility of the instantaneous discharge amount and the continuous discharge amount of the pump was compared and tested. The performance of the muscle pump proposed in this study was verified through experiments that it can inject up to 1L of fluid within 12 hours, and that it is possible to inject the fluid with an accuracy of ±0.1ml. Real-time monitoring of the fluid injection volume through the bio-mimic muscle pump proposed in this study not only increases the convenience of the administrator, but also provides a precise fluid administration environment to more patients at a low cost, and additionally applies bubble detection and occlusion detection technology If so, it is believed that a safer medical environment can be provided to patients.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to review and evaluate the clinical evidence of the efficacy and safety of treatment based on Sasang constitutional medicine (SCM) for post-stroke patients by systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), published in 10 electronic databases up to December 2020, were searched. For the included studies, Cochrane's risk of bias assessment was performed to analyze the methodological quality. The strength of evidence was evaluated using the grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation system based on the results of analyses. All review processes were performed by two independent researchers. Results Five RCTs were finally included. All included RCTs were conducted for one month on post-stroke patients in 60-80s, four studies on Tae-Eum patients and one study on So-Yang patients. Four types of constitution-specific herbal medicine (Chungpyesagan-tang, Cheongsimsanyak-tang, Yeoldahanso-tang, and Yangkyuksanhwa-tang) and constitution-specific acupuncture therapy were identified as interventions. More than half of the included studies were evaluated as low quality due to the high-risk of bias in selection, performance, and detection. The combination of constitution-specific herbal medicine, acupuncture, and conventional treatment was more effective in improving the patients' motor impairment, dysphagia, aphasia, and depression than conventional treatment alone. No serious adverse events by SCM treatment were reported. Conclusions SCM treatment may improve the sequelae of post-stroke patients safely in combination with conventional treatment. Since the quality of clinical evidence included in this study was low, higher quality clinical evidence obtained in well-designed clinical studies will be needed.

An electro-mechanical actuator (EMA) is an actuator that combines an electric motor with a mechanical power transmission elements, and it is suitable for urban air mobility (UAM) in terms of design freedom and maintenance. In this paper, the author presents the research results of the EMA that controls the rotor blade pitch angle of UAM. The actuator is based on an inverted roller screw and controls the blade pitch angle through a two-bar linkage. The dynamic equations for the actuator alone and the blade pitching motion with actuator were derived. For the latter, the equivalent moment of inertia is variable depending on the link angle due to the two-bar linkage. The variations of the equivalent moments of inertia are analyzed and compared in terms of the nut motion and the blade pitch motion. For an example model, the variation of the equivalent moment of inertia of the former is smaller than the latter, so it is judged that the dynamic equations derived from the point of view of the nut motion is suitable for the controller design.

Neurodevelopmental disorders are complex conditions that pose difficulty in the modulation of proper motor, sensory and cognitive function due to dysregulated neuronal development. Previous studies have reported that an imbalance in the excitation/inhibition (E/I) in the brain regulated by glutamatergic and/or GABAergic neurotransmission can cause neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric behavioral deficits such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). NMDA acts as an agonist at the NMDA receptor and imitates the action of the glutamate on that receptor. NMDA however, unlike glutamate, only binds to and regulates the NMDA receptor subtypes and not the other glutamate receptors. This study seeks to determine whether NMDA administration in mice i.e., over-activation of the NMDA system would result in long-lasting behavioral deficits in the adolescent mice. Both gender mice were treated with NMDA or saline at early postnatal developmental period with significant synaptogenesis and synaptic maturation. On postnatal day 28, various behavioral experiments were conducted to assess and identify behavioral characteristics. NMDA-treated mice show social deficits, and repetitive behavior in both gender mice at adolescent periods. However, only the male mice but not female mice showed increased locomotor activity. This study implies that neonatal exposure to NMDA may illicit behavioral features similar to ASD. This study also confirms the validity of the E/I imbalance theory of ASD and that NMDA injection can be used as a pharmacologic model for ASD. Future studies may explore the mechanism behind the gender difference in locomotor activity as well as the human relevance and therapeutic significance of the present findings.

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of the gear specification and gear quality corresponding to the macro geometry on the gear transmission error. The two pairs of gears with large and small transmission errors were selected for calculation, and two pairs of gears were manufactured with different gear quality. The test gears were manufactured by two different gear specifications with ISO 5 and 8 gear quality, respectively. The transmission error measurement system consists of an input motor, reducer, encoders, gearbox, torque meter, and powder brake. To confirm the repeatability of the test results, repeatability was confirmed by performing three repetitions under all conditions, and the average value was used to compare the transmission error results. The transmission errors of the gears were analyzed and compared with the test results. When the gear quality was high, the transmission error was generally low depending on the load, and the load at which the decreasing transmission error phenomenon was completed was also lower. Even when the design transmission error according to the gear specification was different, the difference of the minimum transmission error was not large. The transmission error at the load larger than the minimum transmission error load increased to a slope similar to the slope of the analysis result.
