The program is considered to be an effective nursing intervention for decreasing the stroke patients' depression and improving their motivation of rehabilitation.
Purpose: This study was to examine the effect of morning stretching on depression and motivation of rehabilitation for stroke patients. Method: Design of this study was noneqivalent control pre-test post-test design. Subjects were total 62 patients (Experimental: 30 subjects, Control: 32 subjects) being hospitalized for stroke in a national medical center. Measures were CES-D for depression and PAREMO for motivation of rehabilitation. Data were collected from 1st March to 30th July, 2004. Data have been processed using SPSS/WIN 11.0. Results: The results of this study were as followings: 1) Experimental group was showed lower level of depression than that of control group (t=8.934, P=.000). 2) Experimental group was showed higher motivation of rehabilitation than control group (t=-12.43, P=.000). Conclusion: As a result, it was confirmed that morning stretching which was intervened in this study was one of the nursing intervention that lowers the level of depression and promotes motivation of rehabilitation for stroke patients, that helps to improve their psychological and mental problems.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between socioeconomic status, maternal involvement in learning, parenting behavior and children's self-determination motivation. The participants of this study consisted of 333 fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school children and their mothers living in Seoul. The results of this study indicated that mothers with a higher educational attainment reported greater autonomy support behavior and involvement in their offspring's learning. Conversely, mothers with low incomes were found to use psychological control and were also found to be involved in learning to a lesser degree. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that children whose mothers were less involved in learning showed higher levels of self-determination motivation. Additionally, maternal support for autonomy and psychological control had a number of moderating effects on the association between maternal involvement in learning and the child's self-determination motivation. Specifically, children tended to exhibit significantly lower levels of self-determination motivation when mothers were more involved in learning among those who received less support in terms of autonomy. Conversely, children had significantly higher levels of self-determination motivation when mothers were less involved in learning when it came to those children who were under less psychological control.

The study aimed to pinpoint the effects of an educational environment based on gamification on developing achievement motivation among first-grade intermediate students. Using an achievement motivation scale, the study adopted a quasi-experimental design with experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of 52 students selected randomly from the first-grade intermediate students. They were studying in public intermediate schools in Jeddah at the time of this study. They were divided into two groups. The control group (n=24 respondent), and the experimental group (n=28 respondent). The results showed statistically significant differences at the level α ≥ 0.05 between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the posttest of the achievement motivation measurement in favor of the experimental group. The study recommended using gamification in designing computer curricula and courses across educational stages in Saudi Arabia. It also recommends training the computer and information technology teachers on using gamification in their teaching.
This study attempted to compare the social interest, motivation, and attitude of nursing college students who participated in a voluntary program and the students who didn't participate in a voluntary program. The purpose of this study can be summarized as to find the effect of a voluntary program and to offer fundamental data for institutionalizing a voluntary program in college. The subjects were composed of two groups, one group attend the voluntary program and the other group doesn't. The subjects were 390 nursing students: 179 in the experimental group and 211 in the control group. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Before voluntary activities, the mean value of the control group was higher than that of the experimental group in social interest and altruistic motivation. The difference is statistically meaningful(t= -2.2.53, p=.25, t= -2.509, p= .013). 2. After voluntary activities, selfish motivation and altruistic motivation in the experimental group was higher than before. The difference is statistically meaningful(t= 2.404, p=.0l7, t=-2.751, p=.007). 3. The social interest, selfish motivation, altruistic motivation toward voluntary activities and selfish attitude, altruistic attitude toward voluntary activities will not have changed in the control group before or after voluntary program. However, the altruistic attitude lowered after voluntary activity. It is statistically meaningful(t=2.694, p=.008). 4. After the voluntary activities, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in altruistic attitude. In the experimental group, the mean value of altruistic attitude increased significantly, but in the control group the mean value of altruistic attitude decreased ( t = 2.15, p = .032). The results of this study showed that voluntary activities not only increase social interest and altruistic attitude, but also the subject's understanding toward the community. 3. The social interest, selfish motivation, altruistic motivation toward voluntary activities and selfish attitude, altruistic attitude toward voluntary activities will not have changed in the control group before or after voluntary program. Purpose: The objective of the study is to examine the role of approval goals, subjective norm, internal motivation, external motivation, attitude towards behavior, and perceived behavioral control on retail consumer's intention to consume fortified food in Pakistan. Research design, data, and methodology: The study was quantitative in nature. That is why the data were collected from 384 respondents approaching retail stores of Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad using mall intercept survey. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. Results: The results show that approval goals significantly influence subjective norms. Secondly, subjective norms positively influence internal and external motivation. Thirdly, attitude towards behavior and internal motivation significantly impacted on intention. However, the findings of the study show, non-significant relationship of external motivation and perceived behavioral control with intention to consume fortified food. Conclusion: Theory of reasoned goal pursuit was used to investigate consumer intention to consume fortified food in Pakistan. This study is helpful for the marketers to create a word-of-mouth strategy to enhance positive word of mouth for the company, which ultimately beneficial to develop the distribution strategy of the firm. Fortified food is full of health enriched ingredients which is beneficial for society at large.
Objective: This study designed an Augmented Reality-based intervention program for children with conflicted shyness and examined its effects on social avoidance motivation and preference for being with others. Methods: Sixteen six-year-old children were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. The experimental group participated in a six-week AR-based program. Both teachers and children rated social avoidance motivation and preference for being with others to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Social avoidance motivation decreased only for the experimental group. Conversely, the control group showed increased motivation scores as reported by the children. The preference for being with others increased in the experimental group based on teacher reports. For the control group, preference scores reported by teachers and children were maintained and decreased, respectively. Conclusion/Implications: This study highlights the effectiveness of the intervention in reducing social avoidance motivation and maintaining a preference for being with others in children experiencing conflicted shyness. Furthermore, the use of AR technology provided a psychologically safe environment for them to initiate social interactions without fear of negative evaluation, highlighting its potential as a primary intervention tool for this population.

Purpose: Recently, the number of post-stroke survivors has increased. The physical deficits following stroke have been well studied, but there is little information on fear of recurrence in stroke patients. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the health risk behaviors, health motivation and sense of control on fear of recurrence after a stroke. Method: Data were collected through a questionnaire that included items on general characteristics. Participants were recruited from the convalescent centers and outpatients clinics. Participants completed the mastery scale, health motivation scale, and a fear of stroke recurrence scale. The data were analyzed using hierarchial multiple regressions analysis with SPSS version 18.0. Results: Levels of fear of recurrence, health motivation and sense of control were moderate with means of 19.76(SD=5.15), 26.85(SD=5.10), and 16.69(SD=4.65), respectively. Health motivation and sense of control contributed to fear of recurrence. The variables explained 30.5% of variance in fear of recurrence. Conclusions: Results indicate that interventions for fear of recurrence management after stroke should take into account health motivation and sense of control.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an empowerment program as a nursing intervention for the patients having an acute stroke and to determine the effects of the program on their motivation, depression, and activities of daily living(ADLs). Methods: An non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. Sixty subjects were recruited from two separated institutions: 31 patients were allocated into experimental group and 29 were into control group. Six week empowerment program was provided to the experimental group. The study was conducted from November 2006 to March 2007. Results: After 6 week empowerment program, rehabilitation motivation was significantly increased in the experimental group in comparison to the control group(t=-2.173, p=.036). There were no significant differences in depression and ADLs between experimental and control groups. Conclusion: The empowerment program effectively increased rehabilitation motivation of patients with stroke, while did not improve the levels of depression and ADLs. Future long-term intervention may benefit the patients more in terms of depression and ADLs when considering the acute stage of the patients in this study.
