We propose the new algorithm for scene segmentation. The proposed system consists motion estimation module and motion segmentation module. The former estimates 2D-motion value for each pixel position from two images transformed by wavelet. The latter determine scene segments well fitting on dominant affine motion models. What distinguishes proposed algorithm from other methods is that it needs not other post-processing for scene segmentation. We can manipulate both multimedia data and objects in virtual environment using proposed algorithm.

Ultra-wideband(UWB) is a technology that can transmit and receive signals at high speeds using a very short signal of wideband of several GHz, and has been recently used in the field of radar technology. Impulse radio(IR)-UWB radar is used in the field of motion recognition with high resolution. In this work, we studied motion recognition using IR-UWB radar. We constructed a development environment to acquire data about motion and implemented a signal processing algorithm for performance enhancement. Based on the signal processing result, the performance was verified through feature extraction and learning of motion.

The appropriate handling of motion artifacts is essential for clinical diagnosis in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In many cases, motion is an inherent part of MR images because it is difficult to control during MR imaging. As the motion in the human body occur in a deformable manner, they are difficult to deal with. This paper proposes a novel detection method for periodically moving regions to produce MR images with less motion artifacts. When the data is acquired by the radial trajectory, the proposed method can extract the deformable region easily using the difference in the modulated sinograms, which have different periodic phase terms. The simulation results applied to the various cases confirmed the good performance of the proposed method.

In this study, a planar respiratory motion is modeled by a 2-D linear expanding-shrinking movement. According to the introduced model, respiratory motion imposes phase error, non-uniform sampling and amplitude modulation distortions on the acquired MRI data. When the motion parameters are known or can be estimated, a construction algorithm based on superposition method was used to remove the MRI artifact. For the purpose of estimating unknown motion parameters, we used the spectrum shift method to find the respiratory fluctuation function, the x directional expansion coefficient and its center, and we also used the minimum energy method to find the y directional expansion coefficient and its center. Finally the effectiveness of this presented method is shown by computer simulations.
A non-invasive respiratory gated radiotherapy system like those based on external anatomic motion gives better comfortableness to patients than invasive system on treatment. However, higher correlation between the external and internal anatomic motion is required to increase the effectiveness of non-invasive respiratory gated radiotherapy. Both of invasive and non-invasive methods need to track the internal anatomy with the higher precision and rapid response. Especially, the non-invasive method has more difficulty to track the target position successively because of using only image processing. So we developed the system to track the motion for a non-invasive respiratory gated system to accurately find the dynamic position of internal structures such as the diaphragm and tumor. The respiratory organ motion tracking apparatus consists of an image capture board, a fluoroscopy system and a processing computer. After the image board grabs the motion of internal anatomy through the fluoroscopy system, the computer acquires the organ motion tracking data by image processing without any additional physical markers. The patients breathe freely without any forced breath control and coaching, when this experiment was performed. The developed pattern-recognition software could extract the target motion signal in real-time from the acquired fluoroscopic images. The range of mean deviations between the real and acquired target positions was measured for some sample structures in an anatomical model phantom. The mean and max deviation between the real and acquired positions were less than 1mm and 2mm respectively with the standardized movement using a moving stage and an anatomical model phantom. Under the real human body, the mean and maximum distance of the peak to trough was measured 23.5mm and 55.1mm respectively for 13 patients' diaphragm motion. The acquired respiration profile showed that human expiration period was longer than the inspiration period. The above results could be applied to respiratory-gated radiotherapy.
In this paper, we propose an error resilience video coder which uses a hybrid error concealment algorithm. Firstly, the algorithm uses the error concealment with data hiding. If the hiding information is lost, the motion vector of lost macroblock is computed with adaptive selection of adjacent motion vectors and OBMC (Overlapped Block Motion Compensation) is applied with this motion vector. We know our algorithm is more effective in case of continuous GOB. The results show more significant improvement than many temporal concealment methods such as MVRI (Motion Vector Rational Interpolation) or existing error concealment using data hiding.

In this work, new smart phone based moving target detection is proposed. In order to implement the task, methods of real time image transmission from network camera, motion detecting algorithm and its effective implementation are also addressed. The network camera transfers image data by MJPEG format which contains various information such as data and IP address, and the smart phone separates the image data received through a WiFi module. Later, the image data is converted to a Bitmap image format, and with the help of the embedded OpenCV library on a smart phone and algorithm, it was found that the moving object was identified effectively in terms of real time monitoring and detection.
Captured motion data is widely used today in a variety of areas including film production, game development, sports analysis, and medical rehabilitation. The ability of analyzing and processing motion data has increased rapidly for last decades. However, it is still difficult for users to quickly understand the contents of motion data consisting of a series of time-varying poses. One typical approach is to visualize consecutive poses in sequence while adjusting three-dimensional view, which is often time-consuming and laborious especially when users need to repeatedly control time and view in order to search for desired motions. We present a method of visualizing motion data as a sequence of images in comic book layout so that users can rapidly understand the overall flows of motion data, and easily identify their desired motions. The usefulness of our approach is demonstrated by visualizing various kinds of motion data including locomotion, boxing, and interaction with environments.
Three-dimensional(3D) motion analysis is a useful tool for analyzing sports performance. During the last few decades, advances in motion analysis equipment have enabled us to perform more and more complicated biomechanical analyses. Nevertheless, considering the complexity of biomechanical models and the amount of data recorded from the motion analysis system, subsequent processing of these data is required for event-specific motion analysis. The purpose of this study was to develop a basic golf swing analysis algorithm using a state-of-the-art VICON motion analysis system. The algorithm was developed to facilitate golf swing analysis, with special emphasis on 3D motion analysis and high-speed motion capture, which are not easily available from typical video camera systems. Furthermore, the developed algorithm generates golf swing-specific kinematic and kinetic variables that can easily be used by golfers and coaches who do not have advanced biomechanical knowledge. We provide a basic algorithm to convert massive and complicated VICON data to common golf swing-related variables. Future development is necessary for more practical and efficient golf swing analysis.
In this paper, we introduce non-touch style interface system technology without any touch style controlling mechanism, which is called as "Air-interface". To develop this system, we used the full reflection principle of infrared (IR) light and then user's hand is separated from the background with the obtained image at every frame. The segmented hand region at every frame is used as input data for an hand-motion recognition module, and the hand-motion recognition module performs a suitable control event that has been mapped into the specified hand-motion through verifying the hand-motion. In this paper, we introduce some developed and suggested methods for image processing and hand-motion recognition. The developed air-touch technology will be very useful for advertizement panel, entertainment presentation system, kiosk system and so many applications.
