  • Three indigenous mulberry species of Morus tiliaefolia Makino, Morus mongolica C. K. Shneider and Morus bombycis Koidz. were naturally crossed and their fertilities and fruit characteristics were investigated during the years of 1996 and 1997. M. tiliaefolia Makino and M. mongolica C.K. Schneider showed low fertility, but M. bombycis Koidz. was medium in fertility. The fruits of M. tiliaefolia Makino were red-purple and midium in size and high sugar content, but those of M. mongolica C.K. Schneider were light red and small but extremely high sugar content. The total acidity of fruits was 0.73, 0.50 and 0.36-0.94% in M. tiliaefolia Makino, M. mongolica C.K. Schneider and M. bombycis Koidz. respectively. Regarding ripenening stage, M. mongolica C.K. Schneider was early and M. tiliaefolia Makino was medium, while M. bombycis Koidz was early or medium.

  • The crossabilities among 3 wild mulberry species and 3 cultivars growing in the Korean Peninsula had been studied. The result of the crossabilities of Moms tiliaefolia with Moms bombycis and 3 cultivars were possible, but with Morus mongolica was impossible. Those of Moms mongolica with Moms bombycis, Morus tiliaefolia and 2 cultivars except Daeryukppong were possible too. And those of Morus bombycis with Moms titiaefolia, Moms mongolica were impossible, but with 3 cultivars were possible moderately.

즉 I. Morus bombycis Koidzumi. 산뽕나무(Yamaguwa). II. Morus mongolica Schneider. 몽고뽕나무(Mongoguwa). III. Morus tiliaefolia Makino. 참털뽕나무(Keguwa). (중략)

  • To investigate the structure and the conservation strategy of Nature Ecosystem Preservation Area, 65 plots(10m$\times$10m) set up with random sampling method were surveyed. five group -Larix leptolepis Community, Quercus mongolica-Fraxinus rhynchophylla Community, Fraxinus rhynchophylla-Quercus mongolica community. Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudo-sieboldianum community, Quercus mongolica community were classified by cluster analysis. High positive correlations was proved between Quercus mongolica and Sorbus of alnifolia, Acer Mono, Lonicera praeflorens, Sorbus commixta ; Acer mono and Lonicera praeflorens, Sorbus commixta ; Maackia amurensis and Acer triflorum ; Fraxinus rhynchophylla and Betula davurica ; Lonicera praeflorens and Cornus controversa, Sorbus commixta ; Acer triflorum and Rhamnus toshinoi ; Pyrus ussuriensis and Prunus padus ; Cornuscontroversa, and Sorbus commixta, and high negative corrlations was proved between Quercus mongolica and Larix leptolepis, Carpinus cordata ; Tilia amurensis and Larix leptolepis, Morus bombycis. Species diversity(H' ) of investigated groups were ranged 0.4443~1.2036.

  • To establish the basic unit for the ecological management of the Larix kaempferiplantations in the Baekdudaegan protected area, we classified the vegetation types using TWINSPAN and DCA ordination analysis based on the vegetation information collected from 119 plots and analyzed their spatial arrangement status. Vegetation types were classified into seven types, including Quercus mongolica-Rhododendron schlippenbachii type, Q. mongolica-Lespedeza maximowiczii type, Cornus controversa-Morus australis type, Q. mongolica-Carpinus cordata type, Lindera erythrocarpa-Rosa multiflora type, Q. serrata-Zanthoxylum schinifolium type, and Q. serrata-Sasa borealis type and they have usually reflected differences in the floristic composition according to latitude, elevation, establishment period, operation history, characteristics of the surrounding stands, and degree of disturbance. Furthermore, using the Jaccard coefficient to comparethe floristic composition similarity between Larix kaempferiplantations and surrounding potential natural vegetation (Q. mongolica and Q. serrata forests), although some differences depended on vegetation types, it was 0.21 on average with Q. mongolica forest and 0.32 with Q. serrata forest, indicating that the floristic composition was still heterogeneous.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the vegetation properties, soil characteristics and ordination of Leontice microrhyncha population in South Korea. The Leontice microrhyncha population was classified into Quercus mongolica dominant population, Morus bombycis dominant population, Fraxinus mandshurica population and Leontice microrhyncha typical dominant. The Leontice microrhyncha population was located at an elevation of 633m to 1,336m in Korea. In the study sites, soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphate, exchangeable potassium, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium, cation exchange capacity and soil pH were 8.40~10.58%, 0.42~0.61%, 14.15~25.07mg/kg, 0.44~0.59cmol$^+$/kg, 2.35~6.33cmol$^+$/kg, 0.35~0.98cmol$^+$/kg, 26.04~33.48cmol$^+$/kg and 4.69~5.32 respectively. Morus bombycis dominant population was found in the low elevation and gentle sloped area that has high percentage of phosphoric acid and less percentage of total nitrogen, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium than other dominant population. Fraxinus mandshurica dominant population and Leontice microrhyncha typical population were found in the comparatively high elevation area that has low percentage of phosphoric acid and high percentage of total nitrogen, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium. Quercus mongolica dominant population was found in the medium elevation area that has medium percentage of total nitrogen, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium.
