  • This paper presented a new structure of RSA cryptosystem using modified Montgomery algorithm and CSA(Carry Save Adder) tree. Montgomery algorithm was modified to a radix-4 modified Booth algorithm. By appling radix-4 modified Booth algorithm and CSA tree to modular multiplication, a clock cycle for modular multiplication has been reduced to (n+3)/2 and carry propagation has been removed from the cell structure of modular multiplier. That is, the connection efficiency of full adders is enhanced.

  • Many cryptographic and error control coding algorithms rely on finite field GF(2m) arithmetic. Hardware implementation of these algorithms needs an efficient realization of finite field arithmetic operations. Finite field multiplication is complicated among the basic operations, and it is employed in field exponentiation and division operations. Various algorithms and architectures are proposed in the literature for hardware implementation of finite field multiplication to achieve a reduction in area and delay. In this paper, a low area and delay efficient semi-systolic multiplier over finite fields GF(2m) using the modified Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) is presented. The least significant bit (LSB)-first multiplication and two-level parallel computing scheme are considered to improve the cell delay, latency, and area-time (AT) complexity. The proposed method has the features of regularity, modularity, and unidirectional data flow and offers a considerable improvement in AT complexity compared with related multipliers. The proposed multiplier can be used as a kernel circuit for exponentiation/division and multiplication.

  • Galois field arithmetic is important in error correcting codes and public-key cryptography schemes. Hardware realization of these schemes requires an efficient implementation of Galois field arithmetic operations. Multiplication is the main finite field operation and designing efficient multiplier can clearly affect the performance of compute-intensive applications. Diverse algorithms and hardware architectures are presented in the literature for hardware realization of Galois field multiplication to acquire a reduction in time and area. This paper presents a low complexity semi-systolic multiplier to facilitate parallel processing by partitioning Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) into two independent and identical units and two-level systolic computation scheme. Analytical results indicate that the proposed multiplier achieves lower area-time (AT) complexity compared to related multipliers. Moreover, the proposed method has regularity, concurrency, and modularity, and thus is well suited for VLSI implementation. It can be applied as a core circuit for multiplication and division/exponentiation.

  • In this paper, a new architecture that can simultaneously process modular multiplication and squaring on GF(2$^{m}$ ) in m clock cycles by using the cellular automata is presented. This can be used efficiently for the design of the modular exponentiation on the finite field which is the basic computation in most public key crypto systems such as Diffie-Hellman key exchange, EIGamal, etc. Also, the cellular automata architecture is simple, regular, modular, cascadable and therefore, can be utilized efficiently for the implementation of VLSI.

  • In this paper, the bit-level 1-dimensional systolic array for modular multiplication is designed. First of all, the parallel algorithm and data dependence graph from walter's method based on montgomery algorithm suitable for array design for modular multiplication is derived. By the systematic procedure for systolic array design, four 1-dimensional systolic arrays are obtained and then are evaluated by various criteria. As it is modified the array which is derived form [0,1] projection direction by adding a control logic and it is serialized the communication paths of data A, optimal 1-dimensional systolic array is designed. It has constant I/O channels for expansile module and it is easy for fault tolerance due to unidirectional paths. It is suitable for RSA cryptosystem which deals iwth the large size and many consecutive message blocks.

Abstract One of the main operations for the public key cryptographic system is the modular exponentiation, it is computed by performing the repetitive modular multiplications. In this paper, we analyze Montgomery's algorithm and design a linear systolic array to perform modular multiplication and modular squaring simultaneously. It is done by using common-multiplicand modular multiplication in the right-to-left modular exponentiation over GF(2m). The systolic array presented in this paper improves about 0.67 times than existing multipliers for performing the modular exponentiation. It could be designed on VLSI hardware and used in IC cards.

  • In order for fast calculation for the modular multiplication which plays an essential role in RSA cryptography algorithm, the Montgomery algorithm has been studed and developed in varous ways. Since there is no division operation in the algorithm, it is able to perform a fast modular multiplication. However, the Montgomery algorithm requires a few extra operations in the progress of which transformation from/to ordinary modular form to/from Montgomery form should be made. Concept of high radix operation can be considered by splitting the key size into word-defined units in the RSA cryptosystems which use longer than 1024 key bits. In this paper, We adopted the concept of operand scanning methods to enhance the traditional Montgomery algorithm. The methods consider issues of optimization, memory usage, and calculation time.

  • In this paper, we present a novel method of parallelization of the modular multiplication algorithm to improve time and space complexity on RNS (Residue Number System). The parallel algorithm executes modular reduction using new table lookup based reduction method. MRS (Mixed Radix number System) is used because algebraic comparison is difficult in RNS which has a non-weighted number representation. Conversion from residue number system to certain MRS is relatively fast in residue computer. Therefore magnitude comparison is easily Performed on MRS. By the analysis of the algorithm, it is known that it requires only 1/2 table size than previous approach. And it requires 0(ι) arithmetic operations using 2ㅣ processors.

  • Efficient arithmetic design is essential to implement error correcting codes and cryptographic applications over finite fields. This article presents an efficient $AB^2$ multiplier in GF($2^m$) using a polynomial representation. The proposed multiplier produces the result in m clock cycles with a propagation delay of two AND gates and two XOR gates using O($2^m$) area-time complexity. The proposed multiplier is highly modular, and consists of regular blocks of AND and XOR logic gates. Especially, exponentiation, inversion, and division are more efficiently implemented by applying $AB^2$ multiplication repeatedly rather than AB multiplication. As compared to related works, the proposed multiplier has lower area-time complexity, computational delay, and execution time and is well suited to VLSI implementation.

  • This paper derived Montgomery's parallel algorithms for modular multiplication based on Walter's and Iwamura's method, and compared data dependence graph of each parallel algorithm. Comparing the result, Walter's parallel algorithm has small computational index in data dependence graph, so it is selected and used to computed spatial and temporal pipelining diagrams with each projection direction for designing expansible bit-level systolic array. We also evaluated internal operation of proposed expansible systolic array C++ language.
