  • This paper presents a nondestructive evaluation approach for system identification (SID) of real railway bridges using field vibration test results. First, a multi-phase SID scheme designed on the basis of eigenvalue sensitivity concept is presented. Next, the proposed multi-phase approach is evaluated from field vibration tests on a real railway bridge (Wondongcheon bridge) located in Yangsan, Korea. On the steel girder bridge, a few natural frequencies and mode shapes are experimentally measured under the ambient vibration condition. The corresponding modal parameters are numerically calculated from a three-dimensional finite element (FE) model established for the target bridge. Eigenvalue sensitivities are analyzed for potential model-updating parameters of the FE model. Then, structural subsystems are identified phase-by-phase using the proposed model-updating procedure. Based on model-updating results, a baseline model and a nondestructive evaluation of test bridge are identified.

  • Generally, project audit provides the service which accomplishes a project successfully by checking the management activity of information system project, indicating a controversial point and reflecting the improvement issues based on project audit check list. In addition, the projects are managed by using the project management maturity model based on process. However, the effect is not big as we except projects performance of real world. In this paper. to solve these problems, the project management maturity evaluation model which is connected with project audit check list and organizational maturity model survey items is designed. Thus, we propose the model which can improve the project performance through the project evaluation of customer's project and development part and the evaluation of organization level as we design that it is possible to not only audit the project but also evaluate it before and after the project.

  • The traditional economic evaluation methods do not seem to consider derivative efforts-productivity improvement, quality improvement.-which may be occured by AMS introduction. Current evaluation methods are based on mass production with known characteristic and stable technology. Recently, expert suggest that these assumption-stable production and mass production-are realized to be a limited in substantial economic evaluation analysis. Therefore, the problem of traditional evaluation methods suggested in this thesis and decision in the case studies are derived using two complementary economic analysis methods-AHP method, modified economic evaluation model- and traditional evaluation method. After three methods are compared and evaluated in the view of practical economic evaluation, AHP method is intended to be introduced as a new economic evaluation method.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to predict human performance time in finding objects on multi-display monitors using ACT-R cognitive architecture. Background: Display monitors are one of the representative interfaces for interaction between people and the system. Nowadays, the use of multi-display monitors is increasing so that it is necessary to research about the interaction between users and the system on multi-display monitors. Method: A cognitive model using ACT-R cognitive architecture was developed for the model-based evaluation on multi-display monitors. To develop the cognitive model, first, an experiment was performed to extract the latency about the where system of ACT-R. Then, a menu selection experiment was performed to develop a human performance model to find objects on multi-display monitors. The validation of the cognitive model was also carried out between the developed ACT-R model and empirical data. Results: As a result, no significant difference on performance time was found between the model and empirical data. Conclusion: The ACT-R cognitive architecture could be extended to model human behavior in the search of objects on multi-display monitors.. Application: This model can help predicting performance time for the model-based usability evaluation in the area of multi-display work environments.

  • A townscape has been a main factor in urban-development problems in Japan. In the townscape, keeping harmony with environment is a common goal. But useful and meaningful goals are expressing individuality and impression of the town in the townscape. In this paper, we propose the colony planning support system system to improve the townscape. The system finds propositional colour combinations based on three elements, town image, colour harmony, and cost. The targets of this model are mostly townscapes in residential areas that already exist, In this paper, we introduce the construction of a Kansei evaluation model to quantify the impression. First, we conducted computer-based evaluational experiments for 20 subjects using the SD method to clarify the relationship between town image and street colours. We chose 16 adjective words related to town image and prepared 100 colour picture samples for the evaluation. After the experiments, we constructed the model using a neural network for each word. We chose 62 experimental results for the training data of the neural network and 20 results for the testing data. Each colour in the data was selected to have unique hue, brightness or saturation attributes, After the construction, we tested the model for accuracy. We input the testing data into the constructed model and calculated errors between the output from the model and the experimental results. Testing of the model showed that the model worked well for more than 80% of the samples. The model demonstrated influences of colours on the town image.

  • Web-based Assessment System is needed for Process-Oriented Evaluation to integrate instructions into evaluation frequently in Informatics Education, and considered usability for supporting teachers to test more conveniently. First of all, we analyzed usability of traditional Web-based Assessment System, and proposed PBA(Paper-Based Assessment) model by extracting usability features of paper-pencil assessment in off-line. The evaluation system based on the PBA model controls the whole processes of tests; before-test, under-test, after-test. Especially, the system readily can change the target class, and control access to the test page during each step. Thus we can get high credibility about the test results. Moreover, students can login to the paper easily by using their grade, class, number and name. Finally, we designed and implemented the Web-based Assessment System for Informatics education on the basis of PBA model; PAS(PBA-based Assessment System).

  • This paper is concerned with development of a performance evaluation model for material handling system in cellular manufacturing system based on multi-attributes analysis method. We used the AHP(analytic hierarchy process) and fuzzy set ranking methodologies to overcome the special decision problems; those of multi -objective, multi-criterion, and multi-attributes. We proposed a 3-step approaches and we developed a systemic and practical computer program to solve the problems in the proposed methods. Computational experiments are then performed to cellular manufacturing system and show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • Software reliability growth model is one of the evaluation methods, software quality which quantitatively calculates the software reliability based on the number of errors detected. For correct and precise evaluation of reliability of certain software, the reliability model, which is considered to fit dose to real data should be selected as well. In this paper, the optimal model for specific test data was selected one of among five software reliability growth models based on NHPP(Non Homogeneous Poission Process), and in result reliability estimating scales(total expected number of errors, error detection rate, expected number of errors remaining in the software, reliability etc) could obtained. According to reliability estimating scales obtained, Software development and predicting optimal release point and finally in conducting systematic project management.

  • This paper illustrates a new method for reliability evaluation at load points in a composite power system. The algorithm includes uncertainties of generators and transmission lines as well as main transformers at substations. The CMELDC based on the new effective load model at HLII has been developed also. The CMELDC can be obtain from convolution integral processing of the outage capacity probabilistic distribution function of the fictitious generator and the original load duration curve given at the load point. The CMELDC based on the new model at HLII will extend the application areas of nodal probabilistic production cost simulation, outage cost assessment and reliability evaluation etc. at load points. The characteristics and effectiveness of this new model are illustrated by a case study of a small test system.
