Spatial-Temporal Modelling of Road Traffic Data in Seoul City

  • Recently, the demand of the Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) has been increased to a large extent, and a real-time traffic information service based on the internet system became very important. When ITS companies carry out real-time traffic services, they find some traffic data missing, and use the conventional method of reconstructing missing values by calculating average time trend. However, the method is found unsatisfactory, so that we develop a new method based the spatial and spatial-temporal models. A cross-validation technique shows that the spatial-temporal model outperforms the others.

  • The current research utilized as its target population who are current users of web based information system in Korea. The research validated the dimensions by studying he constructs within the context of the web based information system user population. Correlation was found between Flow dimensions retained as components of a ross-Cultural Model. It was determined that these two dimensions-Intrinsic Interest and Control-are significant predictors of user success. The Cross-Cultural Model was validated, and it is therefore suggested as a basis for further study of user success indicators in he cross-cultural enterprise environment.

Variable selection in L1 penalized censored regression

  • The proposed method is based on a penalized censored regression model with L1-penalty. We use the iteratively reweighted least squares procedure to solve L1 penalized log likelihood function of censored regression model. It provide the efficient computation of regression parameters including variable selection and leads to the generalized cross validation function for the model selection. Numerical results are then presented to indicate the performance of the proposed method.

  • For the accelerated failure time (AFT) model a lot of effort has been devoted to develop effective estimation methods. AFT model assumes a linear relationship between the logarithm of event time and covariates. In this paper we propose a semiparametric support vector machine to consider situations where the functional form of the effect of one or more covariates is unknown. The proposed estimating equation can be computed by a quadratic programming and a linear equation. We study the effect of several covariates on a censored response variable with an unknown probability distribution. We also provide a generalized approximate cross-validation method for choosing the hyper-parameters which affect the performance of the proposed approach. The proposed method is evaluated through simulations using the artificial example.

  • We propose a doubly penalized kernel machine (DPKM) which uses heteroscedastic location-scale model as basic model and estimates both mean and volatility functions simultaneously by kernel machines. We also present the model selection method which employs the generalized approximate cross validation techniques for choosing the hyperparameters which affect the performance of DPKM. Artificial examples are provided to indicate the usefulness of DPKM for the mean and volatility functions estimation.

  • This article focuses on the psychometric stability of the technology acceptance model (TAM) by Davis [8] when applied to laptop usage in the educational settings. Using a survey of 297 users, this research provides evidence that the TAM provides a model for a valid and reliable measure to use among students in assessing their perceptions of laptop usage. Given this evidence, those involved with implementation and training in laptop environment can confidently apply the instrument.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the applicability of the HSPEXP expert system for the calibration of the Hydrological Simulation Program - Fortran (HSPF) for the study watershed. HSPEXP offers advice to the modeler, suggesting parameter changes that might result in better representation of a river basin and provides explanations supporting the recommended parameter changes. The study watershed, Sancheong, is located within the Nakdong River Basin and having the size of $1,072.4km^2$. Input data for the HSPF model were obtained from the landuse map, digital elevation map, meteorological data and others. Water flow data from 2006 to 2008 were used for calibration and from 2009 to 2010 were for validation. Using the HSPEXP expert system, hydrological parameters were adjusted based on total volume, then low flows, storm flows, and finally seasonal flows. For the calibration and validation period, all the HSPEXP model performance criteria were satisfied.

  • The main objective of this paper is come up with methodology approach for FPGA-based system in verification and validation lifecycle regarding software reliability using system engineering approach. The steps of both reverse engineering and re-engineering are carried out to implement an FPGA-based of safety critical system in Nuclear Power Plant. The reverse engineering methodology is applied to elicit the requirements of the system as well as gain understanding of the current life cycle and V&V activities of FPGA based-system. The re-engineering method is carried out to get a new methodology approach of software reliability, particularly Software Reliability Growth Model. For measure the software reliability of a given FPGA-based system, the following steps are executed as; requirements definition and measurement, evaluation of candidate reliability model, and the validation of the selected system. As conclusion, a new methodology approach for software reliability measurement using software reliability growth model is developed.

Scale Development and Model Validation for the Process of Exercise Engagement for People with Prediabetes

  • Purpose: This study had two objectives: 1) to develop a scale for the process of exercise engagement (SPEE) for prediabetic individuals (PDIs); 2) to validate a structural model for the process of exercise engagement for PDIs. Methods: A cross-sectional survey with simple random sampling was conducted from September 2013 to December 2015 (in Taiwan). A total of 310 PDIs were enrolled for scale development and model validation via item analysis, factor analyses, and structural equation modeling. The Kuo model was used as the basis for developing the Chinese version of the SPEE for PDIs. Results: The SPEE contains five subscales with a total of twenty-one items that account for 54.9% to 65.9% of the total variance explained for assessing participants' process of engagement during exercise. For Kuo model validation, the model measures indicated goodness of fit between the Kuo model and sample data. Analysis further revealed a direct effect between the creating health blueprints (CHB) stage and the spontaneous regular exercise (SRE) stage (β=.60). Conclusion: The SPEE includes five subscales for assessing the psychological transition and behavioral expression at each stage of the process of exercise engagement for PDIs. The SPEE for people with prediabetes provides deeper insights into the factors of behavioral change stages that are required to initiate long-term health care outcomes and avoid developing diabetes. These insights are significant as they allow for patient-specific mapping and behavior modification to effect exercise.

수중 환경 소음 모델이 적용된 의사 스펙트럼 시간영역 법 합성환경 수중음향채널 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 (The Modeling and Simulation for Pseudospectral Time-Domain Method Synthetic Environment Underwater Acoustics Channel applied to Underwater Environment Noise Model)

  • 수중환경에서 운영되는 무기체계 획득을 위한 설계/개발을 진행하기 위해 수중음향채널 모델링 및 시뮬레이션을 통한 분석은 필수적이다. 일반적으로 수중음향채널 분석을 위해 사용되는 수중음향 전파 수치해석 모델은 음선이론 법, 정규방식 법, 포물선방정식 법, 파수적분 법이 있으나 다중 주파수 분석일 경우 유효성과 신호처리 및 분석에 제한적이다. 본 논문은 단일 및 다중 주파수 분석 및 신호처리 및 분석이 용이한 기존 의사 스펙트럼 시간영역 법 수중음향 수치해석 모델에 수중환경 소음 모델을 적용하여 실제 수중환경과 유사한 합성환경 수중음향채널을 모델링 하였다. 이렇게 구현된 합성환경 수중음향채널 모델의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 단일 주파수 신호 시나리오 4가지 다중 주파수 신호 시나리오 4가지 및 잠수함 기동에 따른 방사소음 분석 시나리오 시뮬레이션을 통해 의사 스펙트럼 시간영역 법 합성환경 수중음향채널 모델 유효성을 확인하였다.
