  • A modeling method for the dynamic characteristic analysis of a translationally accelerated trapezoidal cantilever plate is presented in this paper. The equations of motion for the plate are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. The effects of the inclination angles and the acceleration on the vibration characteristics of the plate are investigated. Incidentally, natural frequency loci veering and associated mode shape variations are observed and discussed

  • 본 연구는 변위를 추정하기 위한 가속도 시간 적분 방법의 단점을 완화하기 위해 구조물의 가속도와 모드 형상을 이용한 보 구조물 변위 추정 기법을 제안하였다. 기존의 가속도 시간 적분 방법은 구조물의 초기 조건을 알기 어렵고 잡음에 의한 오차가 누적되기 쉽다는 문제가 있었다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 모드 중첩법에 기반을 두는 변위 추정기법을 도출하였고 기법의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 2가지의 외팔보 진동 실험을 수행하였다. 실험으로부터 측정된 가속도 데이터와 외팔보의 모드 형상을 이용하여 보 구조물 정적 변위와 동적 변위를 추정하였고 레이저 변위 센서를 이용하여 직접 측정된 변위와 비교하였다. 이를 통해 제안된 보 구조물 변위 추정 기법의 타당성 및 유용성을 검증하였으며 추정한 변위와 직접 측정한 변위가 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

Generalized complex mode superposition approach for non-classically damped systems

  • Passive control technologies are commonly used in several areas to suppress structural vibrations by the addition of supplementary damping, and some modal damping may be heavy beyond critical damping even for regular structures with energy dissipation devices. The design of passive control structures is typically based on (complex) mode superposition approaches. However, the conventional mode superposition approach is predominantly applied to cases of under-critical damping. Moreover, when any modal damping ratio is equal or close to 1.0, the system becomes defective, i.e., a complete set of eigenvectors cannot be obtained such that some well-known algorithms for the quadratic eigenvalue problem are invalid. In this paper, a generalized complex mode superposition method that is suitable for under-critical, critical and over-critical damping is proposed and expressed in a unified form for structural displacement, velocity and acceleration responses. In the new method, the conventional algorithm for the eigenvalue problem is still valid, even though the system becomes defective due to critical modal damping. Based on the modal truncation error analysis, modal corrected methods for displacement and acceleration responses are developed to approximately consider the contribution of the truncated higher modes. Finally, the implementation of the proposed methods is presented through two numerical examples, and the effectiveness is investigated. The results also show that over-critically damped modes have a significant impact on structural responses. This study is a development of the original complex mode superposition method and can be applied well to dynamic analyses of non-classically damped systems.

차대 동력계에서의 디젤 차량의 매연 측정을 위한 여지 반사식 및 광투과식 측정법의 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Measurement of Smoke from Diesel Vehicle on Chassis-dynamometer using Reflection Photo and Light Extinction Method)

  • Diesel car's smoke measurement equipment and method were investigated based on the exhaust gas regulations. Reflection photo method and light extinction method for measuring smoke were compared under conditions of both no load mode and Lug-down 3 mode. Free acceleration mode at no load condition was used for regular inspection of diesel car, and Lug-down 3 mode was used for fine inspection of the diesel car. A correlation between no load mode and Lug-down 3 mode was investigated in this research. The smoke measured with reflection photo method was 1.5${\sim}$2 times higher than that of light extinction method The correlation coefficient between reflection photo method and light extinction method for measuring smoke was 0.83, which shows comparatively high correlation between the two methods for measuring smoke in diesel engines.

  • The paper deals with the dynamic response of a cantilevered beam under a travelling mass with constant acceleration. Governing equations of motion taking into account all inertia effects of the travelling mass are derived by Galerkin's mode summation method, and Runge-Kutta integration method is applied to solve the differential equations. The effects of the speed, acceleration and the magnitude of the travelling mass on the response of the beam are fully investigated. A variety of numerical results allows us to draw important conclusions for structural design purposes.

Residual Vector를 이용한 시간이력해석의 잔여모드 응답 고려 방법 (Consideration of residual mode response in time history analysis using residual vector)

  • The mode superposition time history analysis method is commonly used in a seismic analysis. The maximum response in the time history analysis can be derived by combining the responses of individual modes. The residual mode response is the response of the modes which are not considered in the time history analysis. In this paper, the residual vector method to consider the residual mode response in the time history analysis is introduced and evaluated. Seismic analyses for a sample structure model and a reactor vessel model are performed to evaluate the residual vector method. The analysis results show that residual mode response is well calculated when the residual vector method is used. It is confirmed that the residual vector method is useful and acceptable to consider the residual mode response in a seismic analysis of the nuclear power plant equipment.

  • 본 논문에서는 여러 가지 충격하에서 압저항 고충격 미소가속도계의 과도 출력전압의 계산시 발생하는 방대한 계산 시간 문제를 모드중첩법 및 최소자승법을 이용하여 압저항 미소가속도계의 실시간 출력전압 계산이 가능하도록 효율적인 출력전압 과도해석 방법을 제안한다. 우선 정적 압저항-구조 해석을 통하여 미소가속도계의 변위와 출력전압을 계산하고 출력전압을 특정 위치의 변위에 관한 2차 다항식으로 근사화하여 그 회귀계수를 최소자승법을 통하여 결정한다. 이후에 모드중첩법을 통하여 여러 방향의 고충격하에서 미소가속도계의 과도 변위응답을 계산하고, 이 변위응답을 변위로 표현되는 출력전압 근사식에 대입하여 과도 출력전압을 예측한다. 100,000 G 고충격파, 사인파, 계단파 및 사각파 등의 여러 가지 고충격 입력에 대한 압저항 미소가속도계의 수치예제를 통하여 제안한 방법의 정확성 및 효율성을 검증하였다.

Modal parameter identification of tall buildings based on variational mode decomposition and energy separation

  • Accurate estimation of modal parameters (i.e., natural frequency, damping ratio) of tall buildings is of great importance to their structural design, structural health monitoring, vibration control, and state assessment. Based on the combination of variational mode decomposition, smoothed discrete energy separation algorithm-1, and Half-cycle energy operator (VMD-SH), this paper presents a method for structural modal parameter estimation. The variational mode decomposition is proved to be effective and reliable for decomposing the mixed-signal with low frequencies and damping ratios, and the validity of both smoothed discrete energy separation algorithm-1 and Half-cycle energy operator in the modal identification of a single modal system is verified. By incorporating these techniques, the VMD-SH method is able to accurately identify and extract the various modes present in a signal, providing improved insights into its underlying structure and behavior. Subsequently, a numerical study of a four-story frame structure is conducted using the Newmark-β method, and it is found that the relative errors of natural frequency and damping ratio estimated by the presented method are much smaller than those by traditional methods, validating the effectiveness and accuracy of the combined method for the modal identification of the multi-modal system. Furthermore, the presented method is employed to estimate modal parameters of a full-scale tall building utilizing acceleration responses. The identified results verify the applicability and accuracy of the presented VMD-SH method in field measurements. The study demonstrates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed VMD-SH method in accurately estimating modal parameters of tall buildings from acceleration response data.

정전위 전해식 가스센서의 가속수명시험법 개발 (Development of Accelerated Life Test Method for Constant Electrical Potential Electrolysis Gas Sensor)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop the accelerated life test method for Constant Electrical Potential Electrolysis gas sensor (CEPE gas sensor). Methods: The parts and modules of CEPE gas sensor were analyzed by using Reliability Block Diagram (RBD). Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methods were performed for each part to determine the most affecting stress factor in its life cycle. The long term testing was conducted at three different dry heat levels and the acceleration factor was developed by using Arrhenius relationship. Conclusion: The acceleration factor for CEPE gas sensor was developed by using FMEA, QFD, and statistical analysis for its failure data. Also qualification tests were designed to meet the target life.

건전성 평가를 위한 대형 트러스 구조물의 모드분석 (Modal Analysis of a Large Truss for Structural Integrity)

  • 구조물의 대표적 동적특성인 고유진동수 및 모드형상은 손상평가, 구조계추정기법 등과 결합한 구조건전성 평가분야에서 매우 중요한 기초 자료로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 해양구조물이나 대경간 교량과 같은 대형 구조물의 경우 진동원을 정확히 계측하기 힘들기 때문에 소규모의 구조물에 많이 쓰이는 기존의 모달 테스트 기법으로는 구조물의 진동특성을 구할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 경간이 긴 대형 트러스 구조물을 대상으로 가속도 응답만으로 고유진동수 및 모드형상을 추출할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 트러스 구조물의 수치해석 모델을 이용하여 가속도 응답 및 주파수 응답함수의 생성과정, 모드분석을 통한 고유진동수 및 모드형상 추출과정을 상세히 설명하였다. 제안한 방법으로 얻은 모드형상은 고유치 해석으로부터 계산된 모드형상과 비교하여 정확성을 검증하였으며, 모의 손상을 통한 손상평가기법에 적용하여 타당성을 입증하였다.
