플라즈마 산질화처리 조건이 강의 내식성에 미치는 영향 (The Characteristics of Corrosion Resistance during Plasma Oxinitrocarburising for Carbon Steel)

  • Plasma nitrocarburising and post oxidation were performed on SM45C steel using a plasma nitriding unit. Nitrocarburising was carried out with various methane gas compositions with 4 torr gas pressure at $570^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours and post oxidation was carried out with 100% oxygen gas atmosphere with 4 torr at different temperatures for various times. It was found that the compound layer produced by plasma nitrocarburising consisted of predominantly ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}(N,C)$ and a small proportion of ${\gamma}-Fe_4(N,C)$. With increasing methane content in the gas mixture, ${\varepsilon}$ phase compound layer was favoured. In addition, when the methane content was further increased, cementite was observed in the compound layer. The very thin oxide layer on top of the compound layer was obtained by post oxidation. The formation of Oxide phase was initially started from the magnetite($Fe_3O_4$) and with increasing oxidation time, the oxide phase was increased. With increasing oxidation temperature, oxide phase was increased. However the oxide layer was split from the compound layer at high temperature. Corrosion resistance was slightly influenced by oxidation times and temperatures.

  • 실리콘계 절연박막 형성을 위한 저온공정을 개발하기 위하여 photo-CVD장치를 제작하여 $SiO_2$ 박막을 $50{\sim}250^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 증착시켰다. 이때 $SiH_4/N_2O$ 혼합가스는 수은증감반응법을 사용하지 않고 저압수은램프의 직접 광여기에 의해 분해시켰다. AES와 ESCA 분석결과 Si와 O의 화학량론적 구성이 거의 모든 공정조건에서 1:2로 나타났고, Si와 O원자의 결합상태가 $SiO_2$의 형태로 이루어져 있음을 보여주었다. 그리고 박막의 굴절율은 $1.39{\sim}1.44$의 범위로 나타나, 저온증착에 의해 밀도가 비교적 낮은 박막이 형성됨을 보였다.

Nb2O5-TiO2 화합물을 이용한 염료감응형 태양전지의 성능 향상 (The Enhancement of the Performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells Using Nb2O5-TiO2 Compound)

  • Niobium oxide ($Nb_2O_5$) has a strong chemical coherence and good electrical conductivity. Therefore, this material is helpful to enhance the performance of the dye sensitized solar cells (DSC) by improving the electron mobility. In this study, $Nb_2O_5$ was mixed with $TiO_2$ and this compound was applied to the DSC to improve its performance. As a result, the current density of the DSC using the $Nb_2O_5-TiO_2$ compound on the photoelectrode was increased, because the internal resistance concerned to the electron transfer in the photoelectrode of DSC was decreased. However, large amount of the $Nb_2O_5$ induces the decrease of the efficiency of the DSC because the surface area to attach dye molecules is decreased due to the large particle of $Nb_2O_5$. Therefore, it is important to optimize the mixture ratio of the $Nb_2O_5-TiO_2$ compound for maximizing the performance of the DSC. Finally, the most optimum performance of the DSC was shown in case of the $Nb_2O_5$ concentration of 10 wt% of the $Nb_2O_5-TiO_2$ compound.

석회보르도액 처리에 따른 철원 양파의 특성 및 페놀화합물 분석 (Characterizations and Phenolic Compounds Analysis of Cheorwon Onion by Bordeaux Mixture Treatment)

  • 본 연구는 철원양파에 친환경제제로 사용되는 석회보르도액을 농도별(1.5:0.5, 2:2, 4:4식)로 처리하여 생육특성과 페놀화합물 함량의 변이를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 그 결과 석회보르도액 4:4식은 양파의 구 무게, 구경, 초장에 어느 정도 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다. 또한 석회보르도액 처리 후 페놀화합물 benzoic acid(1.5:0.5, 2:2, 4:4식), p-coumaric acid(1.5:0.5), quercetin(1.5:0.5, 2:2)의 함량이 무처리구에 비해 다소 증가하였다. 따라서 석회보르도액 처리는 양파의 생육과 페놀화합물 성분 함량 변화에 어느 정도 영향을 준다고 판단된다. 또한 본 연구가 농가에 실질적으로 적용되기 위해서는 좀 더 넓은 면적에서 시험한 후 적용할 필요성이 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Topical or oral treatment of peach flower extract attenuates UV-induced epidermal thickening, matrix metalloproteinase-13 expression and pro-inflammatory cytokine production in hairless mice skin

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Ultraviolet radiation (UV) is a major cause of skin photoaging. Previous studies reported that ethanol extract (PET) of Prunus persica (L.) Batsch flowers (PPF, peach flowers) and its subfractions, particularly the ethylacetate (PEA) and n-butanol extracts (PBT), have potent antioxidant activity and attenuate the UV-induced matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression in human skin cells. In this study, we investigated the protective activity of PPF extract against UV-induced photoaging in a mouse model. MATERIALS/METHODS: Hairless mice were treated with PET or a mixture of PEA and PBT either topically or orally along with UV irradiation. Histological changes and biochemical alterations of mouse skin were examined. Major phenolic compounds in PPF extract were analyzed using an ACQUITY UPLC system. RESULTS: The overall effects of topical and oral treatments with PPF extract on the UV-induced skin responses exhibited similar patterns. In both experiments, the mixture of PEA and PBT significantly inhibited the UV-induced skin and epidermal thickening, while PET inhibited only the UV-induced epidermal thickening. Treatment of PET or the mixture of PEA and PBT significantly inhibited the UV-induced MMP-13 expression, but not type I collagen expression. Topical treatment of the mixture of PEA and PBT with UV irradiation significantly elevated catalase, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione-peroxidase (GPx) activities in the skin compared to those in the UV irradiated control group, while oral treatment of the mixture of PEA and PBT or PET elevated only catalase and SOD activities, but not GPx. Thirteen phytochemical compounds including 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid, cimicifugic acid E and B, quercetin-3-O-rhamnoside and kaempferol glycoside derivatives were identified in the PPF extract. CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrate that treatment with PET or the mixture of PEA and PBT, both topically or orally, attenuates UV-induced photoaging via the cooperative interactions of phenolic components having anti-oxidative and collagen-protective activities.

상번초 및 잔디형 혼파초지의 건물수량과 사료가치 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Dry Matter Yield and Nutritive Value of Tall type and Turf type Mixtures)

  • 본 시험은 2003년 9월부터 2005년 12월까지 충남대학교 생명과학대학내 부속 초지시험포장에서 수행하였다. 공시된 혼파초지는 상번초형(tall type) 혼파초지(orchardgrass, Potomac 50+tall fescue, Fawn 20+ Kentucky bluegrass, Kenblue 10+red clover, Kenland 20%)와 잔디형(turf type) 혼파초지(Kentucky bluegrass, Newport 60+Tall fescue, Reboil II 20+ perennial ryegrass, Palmer II 20%}의 두 처리를 두어 시험하였다. 얻어진 시험결과는 다음과 같다. 2년 평균 건물수량은 상번초형 혼파초지가 12,721 kg/ha으로 잔디형 혼파초지의 11,275 kg/ha 보다 높은 결과를 보였다(p<0.05). 잔디형 혼파초지는 상번초형 혼파초지에 비하여 CP 함량과 건물소화율(DMD)이 높은 반면에 NDF와 ADF, cellulose 및 lignin 함량은 낮은 결과를 보였다(p<0.05). 2년 평균 조단백질수량(CPDM)과 가 소화건물수량(DDM)은 상번초형 혼파초지가 잔디형 혼파초지에 비하여 높은 결과를 보였다 (p<0.05). 이상의 결과로 보아, 잔디형 혼파초지는 상번초형 혼파초지에 비하여 목초의 사료가치는 높았으나, 건물수량이 낮아서 조단백질수량과 가소화건물수량이 낮은 결과를 가져왔다. 그러나 잔디형목초는 상번초형 혼파초지에 비하여 사료가치가 높고, 연간 13회 예취 시 수량과 밀도를 고르게 유지할 수 있었던 것으로 보아 추후 말이나 유산양과 같은 가축의 방목이용 가능성을 타진할 필요가 있다고 판단된다.

  • A microorganism, isolated from soil and designated Pseudomonas sp13, produced two kinds of rhamnolipid in the medium containing glucose as carbon source. There were both rhamnolipid contain L-rhamnose and ${\beta}$-hydroxydecanoic acid. Coumpound A and B elucted chloroform-methanol mixed solution of silicic acid column chromatography and recrystallized from a mixture of ether and n-hexane. Studies on the structure of these products reveled that compound A is L-rhamnopyranosyl-${\beta}$-hydroxydecanoyl-${\beta}$-hydroxydecanoic acid and compound B is L-rhamnopyranosyl-L-rhamnopyranosyl-${\beta}$-hydroxydecanoyl-${\beta}$-hydroxydecanoic acid.

The Crystal Structure of Licarin-B $(C_{20}H_{20}O_4)$, A Component of the Seeds of Myristica fragrans

  • The crystal structure of licarin-B, a component of Myristicae Semen was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystal of the compound, which was recrystallized from the mixture of hexane and ether, is monoclinic with a=12.740(1), b=7.219(1), c=9.284(1) ${\AA}$, ${\beta}=94.75(1)^{\circ}$, $D_x=1.26$, $D_m=1.27\;g/cm^3$, space group P21, and Z=2. The structure was solved by direct method and refined by least-squares procedure to the final R value of 0.040 for 1532 independent reflections ${F{\ge}3{\sigma}(F)}$. The compound is a dimeric phenylpropanoid, and belongs to the neolignan analogues. The molecules are arranged along with the screw axis. The intermolecular contacts appear to be the normal van der Waals' forces.

MRF-based Fuzzy Classification Using EM Algorithm

  • A fuzzy approach using an EM algorithm for image classification is presented. In this study, a double compound stochastic image process is assumed to combine a discrete-valued field for region-class processes and a continuous random field for observed intensity processes. The Markov random field is employed to characterize the geophysical connectedness of a digital image structure. The fuzzy classification is an EM iterative approach based on mixture probability distribution. Under the assumption of the double compound process, given an initial class map, this approach iteratively computes the fuzzy membership vectors in the E-step and the estimates of class-related parameters in the M-step. In the experiments with remotely sensed data, the MRF-based method yielded a spatially smooth class-map with more distinctive configuration of the classes than the non-MRF approach.

Zinc Surfactant Effects on Nr/Tespd/Silica and SBR/Tespd/Silica Compounds

  • The effects of zinc surfactant (ZB) on the bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)disulfide (TESPD)-silica mixture in natural rubber (NR) and solution butadiene-co-styrene rubber(S-SBR) were compared with respect to their rheological property, processability, physical properties, and silica dispersion. In the NR compound, addition of the ZB increased the reversion resistance time (T-2), the tensile modulus, and the BO time; however, lowered the viscosity, the HBU, and tans values. In the S-SBR copound, addition of the ZB increased the $tan{\delta}$ values while lowered the T-2, the tensile modulus the BO time, the viscosity, and the HBU of the compound. In the NR compounds, addition of the ZB significantly increased the processability and mechanical property. However, in the S-SBR compounds, it improved the processability the mechanical property was not improved.
