Box-Cox model and T-factor method have been widely used to measure economic depreciations for industrial property. The Box-Cox model which combines economic efficiency with depreciation pattern is here extended to the reliability function. To do so a Rayleigh distribution which has been used to estimate the reliability of current assets was chosen as an efficiency curve of marginal productivity. Such an approach provides the possibility to classify the efficiency curves into four categories. It is also possible to analyze the types of depreciation curves. Therefore, the power family of a non-linear Box-Cox model could be set at certain constant values, then the model can be transformed into a linear model to estimate the economic depreciation rates by utilizing the reliability function. Estimating the resultant linear regression equation requires minimal number of observations, while at the same time facilitating the test of hypothesis on depreciation rates.

Recently, along with the improvements of geometry modeling methods using sketch-based interface, there have been a lot of developments in research about generating surface model from 3D curves. However, surfacing a 3D curve network remains an ambiguous problem due to the lack of geometric information. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for estimating the normal vectors of the 3D curves which accord closely with user intent. Bending energy is defined by utilizing RMF(Rotation-Minimizing Frame) of 3D curve, and we estimated this minimal energy frame as the one that accords design intent. The proposed algorithm is demonstrated with surface model creation of various curve networks. The algorithm of estimating geometric information in 3D curves which is proposed in this paper can be utilized to extract new information in the sketch-based modeling process. Also, a new framework of 3D modeling can be expected through the fusion between curve network and surface creating algorithm.
A geometric kernel is the library of core mathematical functions that defines and stores 3D shapes in response to users'commands. We developed a light geometric kernel suitable to develop CAD/CAM application systems. The kernel contains geometric objects, such as points, curves and surfaces and a minimal set of functions for each type but does not contain lots of modeling and handling functions that are useful to create and maintain complex shapes from an idea sketch. The kernel was developed on MS-Windows NT using C++ with STL(Standard Template Library) but it is compatible with UNIX environments. This paper describes the structure of the kernel including several components: base, math, point sequence curve, geometry, translators. The base kernel gives portability to applications and the math kernel contains basic arithmetic and their classes, such as vector and matrix. The geometry kernel contains points, parametric curves, and parametric surfaces. A neutral fie format and programming and document styles are also presented in this paper.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the physiological characteristics of isolated bacteria, Ferrobacillus ferooxidans from copper mine water in Korea. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The optimum pH range for the growth of these bacteria was 2.0-3.0 and optimum temperature was $20^{\circ}C$-$30^{\circ}C$. 2. The oxidation curves of ferrous iron to the ferric iron ran parallel with the growth curves. 3. The optimum nitrogen concentration was 400-800 ppm and the minimal flow rate of air for the maximal growth of the bactria was 70 ml air/min./200ml medium. 4. The growth of these bacteria was inhibited by the absence of ferrous iron and by the addition of sulfur. 5. Ferrous iron at a concentration of 9000 ppm, appeared to be optimum for the most rapid growth of Ferrobacillus ferrooxidans.
We show that a pseudo-Anosov map constructed as a product of the large power of Dehn twists of two filling curves always has a geodesic axis on the curve graph of the surface. We also obtain estimates of the stable translation length of a pseudo-Anosov map, when two filling curves are replaced by multicurves. Three main applications of our theorem are the following: (a) determining which word realizes the minimal translation length on the curve graph within a specific class of words, (b) giving a new class of pseudo-Anosov maps optimizing the ratio of stable translation lengths on the curve graph to that on Teichmüller space, (c) giving a partial answer of how much power is needed for Dehn twists to generate right-angled Artin subgroup of the mapping class group.
Categorical production in language processing helps speakers to produce phonemic contrasts. This categorization and production is utilized for the production-based and imitation-based approach in the present study. Contrastive signals in speakers' speech reflect the shapes of boundaries with categorical characteristics. Signals that provide information about lexical pitch accent contrasts can introduce categorical distinctions for productive and cognitive selection. This experiment was conducted with nine North Kyungsang speakers for a production task and nine North Kyungsang speakers for an imitation task. The first finding of the present study is the rigidity of categorical production, which controls the boundaries of lexical pitch accent contrasts. The categorization of North Kyungsang speakers' production allows them to classify minimal pitch accent contrasts. The categorical production in imitation appeared in two clusters, representing two meaningful contrasts. The second finding of the present study is that there are individual differences in speakers' production and imitation responses. The distinctive performances of individual speakers showed a variety of curves. For the HL-LH patterns, the categorical production tended to be highly distinctive as compared to the other pitch accent patterns (HH-HL and HH-LH), showing that there are more continuous curves than categorical curves. Finally, the present study shows that, for North Kyungsang speakers, imitative production is the core type of categorical production for determining the existence of the lexical pitch accent system. However, several questions remain for defining that categorical production, which leads to ideas for future research.
The notions of digital k-homotopy equivalence and digital ($k_0,k_1$)-homotopy equivalence were developed in [13, 16]. By the use of the digital k-homotopy equivalence, we can investigate digital k-homotopy equivalent properties of Cartesian products constructed by the minimal simple closed 4- and 8-curves in $\mathbf{Z}^2$.
Recently, the generalized digital $(k_{0},\;k_{1})$-continuity and its properties are investigated. Furthermore, the k-type digital fundamental group for digital image has been studies with the generalized k-adjacencies. The main goal of this paper is to find some properties of the k-type digital fundamental group of Boxer and to investigate some properties of minimal simple closed k-curves with relation to their embedding into some spaces in ${\mathbb{Z}}^n(2{\leq}n{\leq}3)$.
The bactericidal activities of DW286, a new fluoroquinolone were investigated by comparing the minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) and the time-kill curve of it against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. The MBCs of DW286 for the strains tested were either equal to or two-fold higher than the MICs, as were observed for the other fluoroquinolones. And DW286 exhibited rapid killing curves against the strains. Accordingly, it could be said that DW286 has bactericidal activity comparable to other fluoroquinolones.
In this paper, we construct explicitly K$\ddot{a}$hler metrics on the ellipsoids and calculate their sectional curvatures. Using MAPLE [3], we obtain some geodesic curves on an ellipsoid so that if some conditions are dropped in Question 2.1 [4], then Question 2.1 is not true.
