  • An air-burst munition is limited in space, so there is a limit on the size of the fuze and the amount of ammunition. In order to increase a firepower to a target with limited ammunition, it is necessary to concentrate the firepower on the ground instead of the omnidirectional explosion after flying to the target. This paper explores the design and verification of a ground-detection sensor that detects the direction of the ground and determines the flight-distance of an air-burst munition using a single axis geomagnetic sensor. Prior to the design of the ground detection sensor, a geomagnetic sensor model mounted on the spinning air-burst munition is analyzed and a ground-detection algorithm by simplifying this model is designed. A high speed rotating device to simulate a rotation environment is designed and a geomagnetic sensor and a remote-recording system are fabricated to obtain geomagnetic data. The ground detection algorithm is verified by post-processing the acquired geomagnetic data. Taking miniaturization and low-power into consideration, the ground detection sensor is implemented with analog devices and the processor. The output signal of the ground detection sensor rotating at an arbitrary rotation speed of 200 Hz is connected to the LED (Light Emitting Diode) in the high speed rotating device and the ground detection sensor is verified using a high-speed camera.

  • A Multi-Layer Ceramic (MLC) chip type Band-Pass Filter (BPF) using BiNb$\_$0.975/Sb$\_$0.025/ $O_4$ LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) and MLC processing is presented. The MLC chip BPF has the benefits of low cost and small size. The BPF consists of coupled stripline resonators and coupling capacitors. The BPF is designed to have an attenuation pole at below the passband for a receiver band of IMT-2000 handset. The computer-aided design technology is applied for analysis of the BPF frequency characteristics. The attenuation pole depends on the coupling between resonators and the coupling capacitance. An equivalent circuit and structure of MLC chip BPF are proposed. The frequency characteristics of the manufactured BPF is well acceptable for IMT-2000 application.

  • This paper proposes a new miniaturization method for a parallel coupled line filter with enhanced bandwidth characteristics. A previous method incorporated several advantages, such as size reduction through the use of only a small number of capacitors, in addition to grounding, suppression of harmonic characteristics, and improved skirt characteristics for the parallel coupled line filter, which is conventional in the field of RE filters due to its design and fabrication simplicity. However, the previous method also has disadvantages related to the bandwidth shrinkage of the miniaturized filters. In this paper, the amount of bandwidth shrinkage is analyzed in terms of the relationship between the loaded Q(quality factor) and the group delay of a resonator. Moreover, the reduction in the bandwidth is solved by a design with new design equations. To show the validity of the proposed method, a hairpin filter with a center frequency of 5.2 GHz and an fractional bandwidth(FBW) of 10% was scaled down to half its original dimension by the proposed method with the enhanced bandwidth characteristics. The measured result shows a high level of agreement with theoretical results.

  • In this paper, a broadband planar monopole antenna for multi-band services is proposed. The physical size of the proposed antenna is miniaturized by folding a rectangular loop. And a resonance point in the 3.9 GHz band is reduced by a coupling phenomenon with the central part of the T-shaped patch and the folded rectangular loop. In addition, the T-shaped patch is inserted to the rectangular shaped monopole antenna due to deriving the broadband frequency characteristics. The frequency characteristic is optimized by adjusting the gap and length of the folded rectangular loops and a transverse diameter of the T-shaped patch. The antenna dimensions including the ground plane are $40{\times}60{\times}1.6mm^3$. It is fabricated on the FR-4 substrate(${\epsilon}_r$=4.4) using a microstrip line of $50{\Omega}$ for impedance matching. In the measured result, the bandwidth corresponding to the VSWR of 2:1 is 162 MHz(815~977 MHz) and 2,530 MHz(1.43~3.96 GHz). For analyzing the human effect by the proposed antenna, 1 g and 10 g averaged SARs are simulated and measured. As the simulated results, 1 g-averaged SAR is 1.044 W/kg, and 10 g-averaged SAR is 0.718 W/kg. This result are satisfied by the SAR guidelines which are 1.6 W/kg(1 g-averaged) and 2.0 W/kg(10 g-averaged).

  • In this paper, we design a UWB / WAS microstrip antenna for wireless local high - speed communication. The substrate of the proposed antenna is FR-4 (er = 4.3) and its size is $30[mm]{\times}30[mm]$. It is designed to have characteristics that can be used in the frequency bands of 3.5 [GHz] and 5.2 [GHz], which are UWB / WAS frequency bands. The simulation was performed using CST Microwave Studio 2014. Simulation results show that the gain is 1.592 [dBi] at 3.5 [GHz] and 2.210 [dBi] at 5.2 [GHz]. The S-parameter also showed a result of less than -10 [dB] (WSWR 2: 1) in the desired frequency band. Microstrip antennas have been miniaturized, high performance, and light weight, and excellent and low cost systems are continuously being developed. In addition, many people use wireless local area network systems used in homes, companies, and public facilities. Since the UWB / WAS technology is proposed according to the development of the system and the demand increase, the antenna that satisfies the above conditions will be designed and the technology applicable to the system will be used more conveniently.

  • This study proposes development of 3U CubeSat standard platform whose function and performance are verified via KAUSAT-5 development. 3U CubeSat platform specification was selected for the design of 3U Cubesat standard platform by examining existing CubeSat and state-of-art technology, and consequently a universally usable 3U CubeSat platform was designed. Standard platform was manufactured in 1.5U size and developed with a modular concept to be able to add and expand payloads and ADCS actuators for meeting the user's needs. In addition, in case of the power system, the solar panel, the battery, and the deployment mechanism are designed to be configured by the user. In the mechanical system design of a standard platform, subsystem and micro equipment functions/performance could be integrated and miniaturized on micro-sized PCBs and maximized electrical capability to accommodate multiple payloads. In the development of the 3U CubeSat, the satellite platform adopts the developed standard platform, which can reduce the cost and schedule for the whole satellite development by reducing the additional function verification.

  • In this work. using 0.2 GaAs modulation doped FET(MODFET), a high performance DBS downconverter MMIC was developed for direct broadcasting satellite (DBS) application. Without LNA, the downconverter MMIC showed a very low noise of 4.8 dB, which is lower by 3 dB than conventional ones. A low LO power of -10 dBm was required for the normal DBS operation of the downconverter MMIC. which reduced the power consumption via a removal of LO amplifier on MMIC. It required only a low power consumption of 175 mW, which is lower than 70 percent of conventional ones. The LO leakage power at IF output was suppressed to a lower level than 30 dBm, which removes a bulky LO rejection filter on a board. The fabricated chip, which include a mixer, If amplifiers. LO rejection filter, and active balun, exhibited a small size of $0.84{\times}0.9\textrm{mm}^2$.

  • As the scale of the Internet of Things (IoT) environment grows and develops day by day, the information collected and shared through IoT devices becomes increasingly diverse and more common. However, because IoT devices have limitations on computing power and a low power capacity due to their miniaturized size, it is difficult to apply security technologies like encryption and authentication that have been directly applied in the previous Internet environment, making the IoT vulnerable to security threats. Because of this weakness, important information that needs to be delivered safely and accurately is exposed to the threat of malicious exploitation, such as data forgery, data leakage, and infringement of personal information. In order to overcome this threat, various security studies are being actively conducted to compensate for the weaknesses in IoT environment devices. In particular, since various devices interact, and share and communicate information collected in the IoT environment, each device should be able to communicate with reliability. With regard to this, various studies have been carried out on techniques for device authentication. This study examines the limitations and problems of the authentication techniques that have been studied thus far, and proposes technologies that can certify IoT devices for safe communication between reliable devices in the Internet environment.
