  • Wireless sensor networks (WSN) can be used in military surveillance, in which highly confidential data needs to be transmitted. In effect, security becomes a very important aspect in such networks. We present an efficient key management scheme for WSN. Our scheme is an improvement over SHELL [1] and mostly relies on communication within a cluster of nodes.

  • Security supports are a significant factor in mobile ad hoc networks. Especially in dynamic topologies, considering cluster, key management is essential to provide a secure system. Recently, Li-Liu proposed iD-based multiple key management scheme for cluster-based ad hoc networks. However, we found the security weakness of their scheme. In this paper, we analyze the security of Li-Liu's scheme and show that master secret key and fragment of the master secret key can be revealed to compromised CHs and nodes. Furthermore, we propose a solution to improve the scheme against disclosure of the share key and the master secret key even though system parameters are opened to compromised nodes and modify the Li-Liu's scheme fitted for a scalable networks. The improved IMKM scheme could be usefully applied in dynamic cluster-based MANETs such as the military battlefields, mobile marketplace and VANETs.

  • Hardware Keyloggers are available in a variety of modular keylogger products with small size and Wi-Fi communication capabilities that can be concealed inside the keyboard. Such keyloggers are more likely to leak important information and sensitive information from government, military, business and individuals because they are difficult to detect if they are used by a third party for malicious purposes. However, unlike software keyloggers, research on security solutions and detection methods are relatively small in number. This paper, we investigate security vulnerability caused by hardware keylogger and existing detection methods, and improve the detection possibility of modular hardware keylogger through non-destructive measurement methods, such as power consumption of keyboard, infrared temperature, and X-ray. Furthenmore, We propose a method that can be done with experimental results.

  • C4I system is the centerpiece of the military force. The system is an information based system which facilitates information grid, collection of data and dissemination of the information. The C4I system seeks to assure information dominance by linking warfighting elements in the battlespace to information network which enables sharing of battlespace information and awareness; thereby shifting concept of warfare from platform-centric paradigm to Network Centric Warfare. Although, it is evident that C4I system is a constant target from the adversaries, the issues of vulnerability via cyberspace from attack still remains. Therefore, the protection of C4I system is critical. The roadmap I have constructed in this paper will guide through the direction to protect the system during peace and war time. Moreover, it will propose vision, objectives and necessary supporting framework to secure the system from the threat. In order to fulfill these tasks, enhanced investments and plans from the Joint chief of Staff and Defense of Acquisition and Program Administration (DAPA) is critical; thereby enabling the establishment of rapid and efficient security system.

  • Security is critically important for ubiquitous sensor networks that are usually used for the military and serveillance in environments that are opened to attacks, such as, eavesdroping, replay attacks of abnormal messages, forgery of the messages to name a few. ZigBee has emerged as a strong contender for ubiquitous sensor networks. ZigBee is used for low data rate and low power wireless sensor network applications. To deploy ubiquitous sensor networks, the collected information requires protection from an adversary over the network in many cases. The security mechanism should be provided for collecting the information over the network. However, the ZigBee protocol has some security weaknesses. In this paper, these weaknesses are discussed and a method to improve security aspect of the ZigBee protocol is presented along with a comparison of the message complexity of the proposed security protocol with that of the current ZigBee protocol.

  • NCOs of the amy-navy-air force are the foundation in maintaining, developing and leading the army making manpower aquisition very important. Currently, the operation or the recruitment business is being overlapped by each training institutions leading to uneffectively decreasing the curiosities of the applicants regarding their future. Even though the NCO selection policy is strong in the aspect of retaining uniqueness, use of acquired specialist, and statute revision, it is showing insufficiency in publicizing, selection effectiveness, promotion of peoples' conveniency, and budget reduction. Therefore, if the unification regarding the recruitment of each military sectors are run by the MMA(Military Manpower Administration), which is the institute that is fully responsible for the recruitment duty, it can acquire excellent man power while decreasing effort and resources, provide accurate information to the NCO applicants on time, and provide improved services through the convenient facilities and systems.

  • The article considers the improved method and model of automated air situation assessment using a decision support system based on fuzzy networks of target installations. The advanced method of automated assessment of the air situation using the decision support system is based on the methodology of reflexive control of the first rank. With this approach, the process of assessing the air situation in the framework of the formulated task can be reduced to determining the purpose, probabilistic nature of actions and capabilities of the air target. The use of a homogeneous functional network for the formal presentation of air situation assessment processes will formally describe the process of determining classes of events during air situation assessment and the process of determining quantitative and qualitative characteristics of recognized air situation situations. To formalize the patterns of manifestation of the values of quantitative and symbolic information, it is proposed to use the mathematical apparatus of fuzzy sets.

  • Internet of Things technology is an intelligent service that connects all objects to the Internet and interacts with them. It is a technology that can be used in various fields, such as device management, process management, monitoring of restricted areas for industrial systems, as well as for navigation in military theaters of operation. However, because all devices are connected to the Internet, various attacks using security vulnerabilities can cause a variety of damage, such as economic loss, personal information leaks, and risks to life from vulnerability attacks against medical services or for military purposes. Therefore, in this paper, a mutual authentication method and a key-generation and update system are applied by applying S/Key technology based on a hash chain in the communications process. A mutual authentication method is studied, which can cope with various security threats. The proposed protocol can be applied to inter-peer security communications, and we confirm it is robust against replay attacks and man-in-the-middle attacks, providing data integrity against well-known attacks in the IoT environment.

  • In recent years, the development of defense technology has become digital with the introduction of advanced assets such as drones equipped with artificial intelligence. These assets are integrated with modern information technologies such as industrial IoT, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to promote innovation in the defense domain. However, the convergence of the technology is increasing the possibility of transfer of cyber threats, which is emerging as a problem of increasing the vulnerability of defense assets. While the current cybersecurity methodologies focus on the vulnerability of a single asset, interworking of various military assets is necessary to perform the mission. Therefore, this paper recognizes these problems and presents a mission-based asset management and evaluation methodology. It aims to strengthen cyber security in the defense sector by identifying assets that are important for mission execution and analyzing vulnerabilities in terms of cyber security. In this paper, we propose a method of classifying mission dependencies through linkage analysis between functions and assets to perform a mission, and identifying and classifying assets that affect the mission. In addition, a case study of identifying key assets was conducted through an attack scenario.
