  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between the number of relocation and volition of soldier's service based on system thinking perspective using a causal loop analysis. Research adopting system dynamics concerning on the volition of soldier's service and relocation has not been studied yet. Causal loops are analyzed and evaluated by focusing on soldier's military performance, stress of family members and family members' welfare service. Result of this study is that soldier's periodical movement is indispensable factor maintaining military life. Most of the married soldier's life conditions are worse than ordinary people. As the number of relocation is increasing family of soldier's stress is increased by anxiety for welfare conditions is supposed to relocate. The number of movement to another place of soldier's children is more than two times and the result of learning achievement is worse than ordinary students. This kind of stress can influence the married soldier's military performance and stress. So the welfare service should be expanded to an official residence, education, facility, district network service and so on.

  • Pollutants such as heavy metals and explosives originating from the military operational ranges can be migrated to adjacent surface water body or offsite soil, and can affect to local residents and aquatic ecosystem. Therefore, Korea Ministry of the National Defense has established various guidelines for environmental management including the installation of pollutant migration prevention facilities (PMPFs) and monitoring methodologies for heavy metals in the operational range soil and effluent and sediment of PMPFs. However, current guidelines neither address the explosive compounds such as 2, 4, 6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX) nor suggest detailed environmental investigation protocol. This paper introduces the new “Environmental Management Manual for Military Firing Ranges”, which includes the environmental criteria for explosives as well as the detailed investigation protocol for the affected environmental media including soil, effluent and sediment of PMPFs.

  • To build up the military strength based on information oriented armed forces, the Korean ministry of national defense (MND) promotes the defense CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life cycle Support) initiative for the reductions of acquisition times, improvements of system qualities, and reductions of costs. These defense CALS activities are the major component of the underlying mid and long term defense digitization program and the ultimate goal of program is to bring a quick victory by providing real-time battlefield intelligence and the economical operations of the military. The concept of defense CALS is to automate the acquisition and disposition of defense systems throughout their life cycle. For implementing defense CALS, the technology for exchange and sharing CALS standard data that is created once and used many times should be considered. In order to develop an efficient CALS information exchange and sharing system, it is required to integrate distributed and heterogeneous data sources and provide systematic search tools for those data. In this study, we developed a content based search engine technology which is essential for the construction of integrated data environments. The developed technology provides the environment of sharing the CALS standard data such as SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) and STEP(Standard for The Exchange of Product model data). Utilizing this technology, users can find and access distributed and heterogeneous data sources without knowing its actual location.

  • This study was performed to investigate the soldiers' preference for meals provided and their satisfaction with military food service. The average daily calorific intake was 3,976 kcal, representing an extra 467 kcal over the 3,500 kcal state as the minimum daily kcal needed for each soldier based on the manual of the Korea Ministry of Defence. The soldiers preferred Korean food to Western food. The soldiers' overall satisfaction was researched in 7 areas such as quality and hygiene. They were pleased with two facts: holiday food is provided occasionally and the food is served quickly. However, they were dissatisfied with two issues: the poor nutritional information of the food, and the low frequency of special meals. The variety of choice needs to be improved and the cooks need to be better trained. When providers plan the food time table, a sensational menu needs to be considered to satisfy the soldiers' taste. To improve the quality of military meal food, new systems aye necessary such as food schedule, nutritional goal and different systems with independent food providing for the company's involvement.

  • This study aimed to analyze convergently the result of the health check-up of the military workers at age of 40, a life transition period in Korea. Data of 4898 military workers who took a health check-up in 2015 was obtained from the national health insurance service and we conducted secondary analysis. As a results, the metabolic syndrome group had a greater current smoking rate, higher number of cigarettes smoked per day, longer period of smoking and higher amount of alcohol consumed. Also, the group scored higher on BMI and had a higher level of total cholesterol, AST, ALT and GGT. In conclusion, as the military workers at age of 40 usually perform important duties, effective programs of reducing smoking and drinking alcohol are needed for their age group, In order to develop health management programs, prior investigation to take into consideration specific age and military rank is necessary.

  • The fourth industrial revolution is the first topic thrown by Klaus Schwab at the Davos World Economic Forum in January 2016, meaning the next industrial revolution led by the Internet of Things (IOT), artificial intelligence (AI), robot technology and life sciences. In addition, in our lives, humans, computers and machines are connected organically, and organic relationships are evolving and developing at a furious rate in all areas of life. Since the 1953 armistice agreement, South Korea has remained in a state of confrontation with North Korea, and there have been continued fighting by the North, including naval skirmishes in the West Sea, artillery attacks on Yeonpyeong Island, the sinking of the Cheonan warship, and unmanned aerial vehicles and ankle mines. To prepare for such a local initiative, our military is constantly preparing and will have to strengthen its combat capabilities by developing and introducing advanced military equipment. After all, the military drone industry linked to the Fourth Industrial Revolution following the development of new war should continue its research on military drones in line with accurate diagnosis and the rapid development of future science and technology and IT technologies.

The deteriorated facilities that becomes more than about 20 years of the military possession facilities is account about $25\%$ and these are real condition that is not achieving the function properly. Early Deterioration of Military-Facilities bring about waste of national defense cost, environmental pollution and so on. These are not very desirable for nations, societies and environment. Therefore, this study presented maintenance improvement of the Military Facilities for of a long life-cycle of Facilities

  • This research analyzed military journalist activities and key photos of Werner Bischof, the military journalist during Korean war. Werner Bischof entered Korea twice in 1951 and 1952 for military journals. Through Korean war pictures, essay, multiple letters and photobooks, I shed a light on the background of his military journals and activities, and analyzed topics and characteristics based on key photos that he took during his first and second military journalist activities. Bischof created a work centered on 'Human'. Especially, he has this consciousness of 'What happens to civilians in war-ridden area?'. Bischof took civilians in Sanyangri in his camera to announce pain of civilians and tragedy of war coming from war during his first military journalist activity. During his second military journalist activity, he critiqued ideological brainwashing, life of prisoners of war in a humanist point of view. The latter showed characteristics of clear contrast of black and white, image arrangement based on characters, and outstanding photo views. His military journal activity is in search of civilian suffering, and humanism in Korean war. This consciousness crosses through generation over generation that cannot be compared to other military journalists.

  • This study analyzes the increasingly severe issue of recruiting military officer personnel due to low birth rates and social changes, and seeks to explore recruitment strategies that consider the characteristics of the MZ generation. The military strives to maintain security amidst ongoing military threats from North Korea, but the sharp decline in birth rates significantly impacts conscription resources and personnel recruitment. Additionally, the shift in values among the MZ generation and the cultural gap between them and the military organization make it challenging to attract outstanding talents. The MZ generation values work-life balance, horizontal relationships, and self-fulfillment, finding the authoritative and hierarchical military culture unattractive. Therefore, this study aims to diagnose the problems in military personnel recruitment and propose tailored recruitment strategies reflecting the characteristics of the MZ generation, ultimately exploring sustainable development directions for the future military.
