  • A beam steering system of X-band 2-D phased array antenna for radar application is developed. The beam steering system consists of real-time command generator, beam steering unit, control PCB of array module and power supply. It plays a role of beam steering and on-line check of phased array antenna. The performance of beam steering system is verified with pulse timing of current control in phase shifters and measurement of far-field of phased array antenna. The developed beam steering system offers basic technology to develop full-scale beam steering system of multi-function radar.

  • This study suggests the applicability of an AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to improve the validity and fairness of evaluation index to assess the defense core-technology R&D projects. This study focused on the design of the proposal and performance evaluation index to structure them into a hierarchy using AHP which can be applicable to take the opinion of the defense R&D experts. Using the refined evaluation index, we propose a technique to enhance the reliability of the defense R&D projects evaluation system.

  • Fatigue has been a common symptom of warfighters who were participated in the early morning hours, late night hours, and sustained operations. Continuous operations may disrupt circadian rhythm, resulting in impaired combat capability. It is important to enhance alertness and sleep quality of warfighters for maintaining combat capability. A number of anti-fatigue strategies are available including medications. Here in, the pharmacological countermeasures of combat fatigue have reviewed, and the direction of research in the pharmacological countermeasures against combat fatigue are proposed.

  • In order to successfully manage of the state-of-the-art weapon system R&D program which are under the limited budget and schedule but also has a high level of technical risks, it is gaining weights to use such a scientific program management tool as TPM. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to review the concept of the TPM and its relation among MOE, MOP and TPM, and introduce an application method of TPM mainly focusing on helicopter development program. It has the organized structure, detailed procedure and 282 parameters for performance management through the TPM.

  • This paper proposes a novel appoach which can assess the system technical maturity for use in Defense R&D Program reviews. As the weapon systems become more complicated, the success and effectiveness of R&D outcome heavily depend on the application and tailoring of systems engineering process and methods. It is a difficult task to assess the system readiness level(SRL) of the system being developed. A system-focused approach for managing weapon systems development and making effective and efficient decisions during the development lifecycle is critical to ensure the success of the program. The proposed weighted average SRL can facilitate the system technical maturity assessment without expending heavy work load.

  • It happened fractures on special bolt which supported main landing gear actuator up-lock rod of aircraft. Cracks were initiated mainly from the center hole and the external thread of the special bolt. To find out failure root causes, metallographic, fractographic analyses as well as test work were carried out. From the fractographic study by SEM work, fracture occurred by a brittle intergranular type failure. The fracture could be occurred primarily by solid-metal-induced embrittlement due to cadmium embrittler penetrated into the flaw existed after machining work for center hole and thread on the bolt during baking treatment processing to eliminate hydrogen. For its successful application, cadmium EP bolts require proper and adequate baking treatment after electroplating, and make no more drilled center hole on the bolt to prevent same failure.

  • In this paper, a design method of the simulation program for HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) system is proposed. The present method consists of definition of requirements for HILS, development of specifications, and implementation of the program to satisfy the specifications. In the implementation of the program, the application of hardware interface and the concept of structural modularization are proposed to satisfy the specifications. The concepts of CSCI(Computer Software Configuration Item) and encapsulation are used for structural modularization. The proposed method was practically applied to the development of the simulation program for the efficient operation in HILS of an anti-ship missile system.

  • This paper presents an allocation model of test times of software modules. An evaluation measure of modules which is based on the data flow path between modules is used at test phase. An evaluation measure is expressed by the possible path number of data flow for each module, which can be interpreted as an importance of individual module. Three criteria : module test time, module reliability, and system reliability is considered in this model. Multi-objective programming, hence, is used to solve this model.

  • A class of allocation problems can be modeled in a linear programming formulation. But in reality, the coefficient of both the cost and constraint equations can not be generally determined by crisp numbers due to the imprecision or fuzziness in the related parameters. To account for this. a fuzzy version is considered and solved by transforming to a conventional non-linear programming model. This gives a solution as well as the degree that the solution satisfies the objective and constraints simultaneously and hence will be very useful to a decision maker. An attacker assignment problem for multiple fired targets has been modeled by a linear programming formulation by Lemus and David. in which the objective is to minimize the cost that might occur on attacker's losses during the mission. A fuzzy version of the model is formulated and solved by transforming it to a conventional nonlinear programming formulation following the Tanaka's approach. It is also expected that the fuzzy approach will have wide applicability in general allocation problems

  • Occasionally, there are combat situations which one or both forces can´t terminate the combat using selected combat termination rule according to given relationship between ratio of attrition rate coefficient and threshold values. In this study, we classify the situations that one or both forces can´t terminate the combat with selected combat termination rule into four conditions. Condition${\circled1}$ is the situation which both Blue and Red can terminate the combat using all selected combat termination rules. condition${\circled2}$ and condition${\circled3}$ are those which neither Blue or Red can terminate the combat using selected proportional decision rule, and condition${\circled4}$ is that which both Blue and Red can´t terminate the combat using selected proportional decision rule. We analyze the effect of combat termination rules on parity number, final combat power, and combat durations for each conditions. Also, we propose the method to apply the analyzed effect of combat termination rules to combat analysis.
