Elementary, Middle and High School Parents' Awareness of School Garden Education Service

  • Background and objective: Education based on agricultural experience in school gardens is coming to the fore as a solution to reduce the negative effect of rapid urbanization and the development of information technology (IT) on students. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate how parents of elementary, middle, and high school students in Korea perceive the value of education service using school gardens, as well as their willingness to participate in and pay for such service, and to utilize the results in a quantitative assessment of the socioeconomic value of the education service. Methods: A contactless online survey on the perceived value of education service using school gardens was conducted on 1,010 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students in Korea's five major districts from October 22 to 26 (5 days) of 2020 by M, a Korean specialized survey agency. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS for Windows 25.0 and Excel to obtain the frequency and ratio of each measured item. Results: The respondents had an average of 1.83, of which 52.8% were male. 55.3% of the respondents were aware of the education service using school gardens, and 27.9% experienced the service. When asked if they saw the educational service using school gardens as necessary, 79% answered in the affirmative. In terms of the difference in perception of the need for the service according to experience, 91.8% of the parents who experienced the service responded that it was necessary, indicating that it is important to provide opportunities to experience this service to expand the scope of service. 54.9% of all respondents responded they were willing to pay the costs required for school gardens. When income tax was used as a payment method, the average amount parents were willing to pay was 13,193 KRW, and the tax rate was 2.02%. Based on experience, those who experienced this service had a higher need and willingness to pay for the service than those who had not experience, but the actual amount or tax rate was low as they knew how it was operated. Conclusion: As basic research on the assessment of the value of agricultural experience education using school gardens, this study determined how parents perceive this form of education service as well as their willingness to participate and pay for the service. These findings can be used to systemize the assessment indicators and promote the value of the education service using school gardens, allowing students to maintain a healthy and happy school life through agricultural experience.

디지털 리터러시를 강조한 과학 수업이 중학교 1학년 학생들의 과학 태도 및 핵심역량 성장 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science Class Emphasizing Digital Literacy on the Science Attitude and Perception of Growth of Key Competencies in 7th Grade Students)

  • 이 연구는 디지털 리터러시를 강조한 과학 수업을 통해 학생의 과학에 대한 태도 변화와 핵심역량의 성장을 알아보았다. 이를 위해 C 지역의 C 중학교 1학년 116명을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였으며, 총 35차시의 디지털 리터러시를 강조한 과학 수업을 투입하였다. 첫째로, 과학 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 변화가 있었다(p<.05). 하위영역별 효과 크기는 0.67~1.52로 중간이상의 효과 크기를 보였다. 둘째로, 디지털 리터러시를 강조한 수업의 유형에 따라서 성장 인식의 전체 빈도 차이는 크게 없었다. 하지만 핵심역량에 따른 분석에서는 Web 기반 수업은 핵심역량별로 빈도의 차이가 크지 않는 반면, 첨단기술 수업은 핵심역량별로 다소 차이가 큼을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 과학교육에 주는 시사점으로 디지털 리터러시를 강조한 과학 수업의 활용을 높일 필요가 있다.

초등학교 과학 협동 학습에서 소집단 구성을 달리한 효과 (The Effects of Different Grouping in Elementary Science Cooperative Learning)

  • The purpose of this study was to examined the effects of different grouping according to the levels of students' achievement in science cooperative learning on students' science academic achievements, science-related attitudes, perceptions of science learning environment and self-efficacies. The results of this study can be summarized as following. First, the homogeneous grouping was more effective than the heterogeneous grouping in improving the science academic achievements of high academic ability students. Second, the homogeneous grouping was more effective than the heterogeneous grouping in improving the science-related attitude of students, especially for low academic ability students. Third, both the homogeneous grouping and the heterogeneous grouping improved the perceptions of science learning environment of students. For low academic ability students, the homogeneous grouping was more effective. Fourth, the homogeneous grouping was more effective than the heterogeneous grouping in improving self-efficacies of students, especially for middle and low academic ability students.

기술.가정교과의 식생활교육에 대한 중학생의 인식 - 제7차 교육과정을 중심으로 - (Middle School Students' Perceptions of Dietary Education in Technology.Home Economies Classes - Focusing on the 7th Curriculum -)

  • 본 연구는 현재 기술 가정교과에서 이루어지고 있는 학교식생활교육에 대하여 중학생틀이 어떻게 인식하고 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 경기지역 중학교 3학년 남녀학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 바, 유효응답자 444명 중 78.1%가 주로 기술 가정교과로부터 식생활 관련 지식과 정보를 습득하고 있었으며, 62.6%가'실생활에 도움이 된다', 67.3%가 '학교식생활교육이 필요하다'고 응답하였다. 현재 시행중인 식생활교육지원법에 대해서 88.7%의 응답자가 모르고 있었다. 식생활교육영역을 총28개의 항목으로 세분화하여 질문한 결과, 전반적으로 관심도가 높은 항목일수록 실천도 역시 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 모든 항목에서 여학생이 남학생보다 높은 관심도 및 실천도를 나타냈다. '식사예절' 및 '청소년의 영양과 식사' 영역과 관련된 교육항목에 대한 관심이 높았으며 '식품 조리' 영역에 대한 관섬은 상대적으로 낮았다. 학교식생활교육의 필요성에 대한 학생들의 인식에는 '청소년의 영양과 식사' 단원에 대한 관심도가 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 다음으로 성별, '식사예절' 단원의 실천도 등의 순으로 조사되었다.

성별, 연령, 감성차원이 얼굴매력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Gender, Age and Affective Dimensions on Facial Attractiveness)

  • 본 연구는 성별과 연령, 감성차원(날카롭다/부드럽다, 앳되다/성숙하다)에 따라 얼굴매력에 대한 평가가 달라지는지 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 각 참가자들에게 60개의 여성 얼굴 사진에 대하여 9점 척도로 이루어진 세 차원('날카롭다/부드럽다', '앳되다/성숙하다', '전혀 매력적이지 않다/매력적이다')에 평정하도록 제시하였고, 총 131명이 참가하였다(초등학생: 48명, 중학생: 44명, 대학생: 39명; 남자: 60명, 여자: 71명). 연구 결과를 알아보기 위하여 다층분석을 실시하였다. 성별과 세 연령집단 모두 얼굴이 앳될수록, 부드러울수록 매력적으로 평가하였다. 한편 성별과 연령에 따른 매력 정도의 차이가 있었다. 대학생이 초등학생과 중학생보다 매력을 더 높게 평가하였고 남자보다 여자가 동일한 사진을 더 매력적으로 평가하였다. 또한 대학생과 초등학생 간의 '날카롭다/부드럽다' 차원의 평가가 유의미하게 달랐으며, 이는 대학생보다 초등학생에게 '날카롭다/부드럽다' 차원이 얼굴매력 평정에 더 크게 영향을 미치는 것으로 해석된다. 본 연구 결과는 얼굴이 앳될수록, 부드러울수록 얼굴을 매력적이라고 판단하지만, 감성차원이 매력에 미치는 효과가 성별과 연령에 따라 차이가 있음을 시사한다.

"영화공작소" 과학·예술 융합형 융합인재교육(STEAM) 프로그램 개발 및 초등학생의 과학 진로지향도, 진로인식 및 창의적 성향에 미치는 영향 (Development of "Movie Production Project" Science-Arts Convergence STEAM Program and its Effects on Elementary School Students' Career Orientation of Science, Career Awareness and Creative Personality)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 "영화공작소" 과학-예술 융합형 융합인재교육(STEAM) 프로그램을 개발하고 초등학교에 적용하여 효과를 알아보는 것이다. 이 연구를 위해 경기도 소재 초등학생 82명이 참여하였다. 43명은 실험집단으로, 39명은 비교집단으로 배치하였으며 프로그램 적용 전후에 과학 진로지향도, 진로인식, 창의적 성향 검사를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, "영화공작소" 융합인재교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단 학생의 과학 진로지향도 전체 점수와 하위영역 중 과학 학습 선호도, 과학 진로 선호도와 과학 진로에 대한 가치 인식에서 비교집단에 비해 유의미하게 향상되었다(p<.05). 둘째, "영화공작소" 융합인재교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단 학생의 진로인식 전체 점수와 4개 하위영역 점수가 비교집단에 비해 유의미하게 향상되었다(p<.05). 셋째, "영화공작소" 융합인재교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단 학생의 창의적 성향 전체 점수와 독립심, 개방성의 2개 하위영역 점수가 비교집단에 비해 유의미하게 향상되었다(p<.05). 넷째, "영화공작소" 융합인재교육 프로그램에 대한 실험집단 학생의 인식을 조사한 결과 프로그램이 흥미로웠고, 수준은 약간 쉬웠으며 또 다시 공부하고 싶다고 응답하였다.

강원 영동지역 학교급식 영양(교)사의 약선요리에 대한 인지도 및 활용실태 (Utilization Status and Awareness of School Foodservice Dietitians Regarding Medicinal Cuisine in Yeoungdong, Gangwon-do)

  • This study investigated the attitudes of dietitians regarding medicinal cuisine for school meal services. Data was obtained with self-administered questionnaires from 261 dietitians in schools located in Yeoungdong, Gangwon-do. Subjects were distributed into three groups (Elementary=116, Middle=106, High=39) and their awareness, satisfaction, cooking method, and utilization status of medicial cuisine were assessed. Regarding awareness, responders showed highest mean score of 4.57 in perceiving medical cuisines as healthy meal. The preferred cooking method includes medicinal cuisines as noodle, boiled in soy sauce, steaming, roasting, and dessert. Good taste, easy recipe, nutrition, and reasonable price were statistically significant reasons for their preference for medicinal cuisine. However, low preference of students for medicinal cuisine made it difficult to include them into school meals. Methods currently used to serve more medicinal cuisine include the application of different recipes using the same ingredients. The results of this study suggest that having dietitians with a higher preference for medicinal cuisine can serve as a strategy to increase the exposure of school students to medicinal cuisine. The development of recipes applicable to school foodservices by dieticians and the adoption of policies and education programs for medicinal cuisine by the government and associations are recommended.

웹기반 지구과학교육에서 가상현실 기술의 활용 (The Use of Virtual Reality in Web-based Earth Science Education)

  • 지구과학 학습 내용들은 교실이나 실험실에서 통제하기 어려운 내용들이 많다. 따라서 이를 극복할 수 있는 하나의 방안으로 가상현실 기술을 도입하여 웹상에서 활용할 수 있는 3D 가상현실 학습프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 701명의 중학교 학생들에게 투입되었다. 그 결과 몰입감을 통한 흥미유발 및 동기유발에 아주 긍정적인 효과가 있었으며, 공간지각 능력 향상에도 큰 도움이 되는 것으로 보여졌다.

대구, 경북지역 남녀 중학생들의 영양지식, 체형인식 및 식행동에 관한 비교연구 (Comparisons of Nutritional Knowledge, Perception of Body Image and Dietary Behavior between Adolescent Boys and Girls in the Daegu$\cdot$Kyungbuk Area)

  • This study was undertaken to compare the obesity related dietary factors among rural middle school students living in the Daegu.Kyungbuk area. Anthropometric data showed that mean height and weight were 162.7$\pm$8.6cm and 53.9$\pm$9.8kg in 220 male students and 158.4$\pm$6.2cm and 51.0$\pm$7.6kg in 210 female student. Mean BMIs for boys and girls were 19.00$\pm$2.35 and 19.30$\pm$2.45, respectively. 71.36% of male students and 71.9% of female students were underweight by the BMI index. Students who skipped the breakfast were up to 66.8%. The reasons for skipping a meal for both sexes were significantly different. Compared to males, more female respondents felt guilty and depressed related to eating. Furthermore, females were more significantly concerned about body image, diet and body weight (p<0.001), and they were not satisfied with their weight. The sources of information on obesity and diet were radio and TV in males, while females gathered information from magazines and friends. The ideal body weight of male students was heavier than the actual body weight while female students desired a thinner body shape. In conclusion, a different approach for nutrition education based on sex should be developed, and implemented fur adolescents.

충북지역 학교급식의 만족도 분석 (An Analysis on the Satisfaction with the Quality of School Foodservice in Chungbuk Province)

  • The purposes of this study were to identify the students’ perception and to evaluate the satisfaction with the quality of school foodservice in Chungbuk Province. A questionnaire survey of 900 students was conducted and 370 completed questionnaires were available for the purpose of the statistical evaluation. Statistical analyses were performed on the data utilizing the SAS V8.2 program. Importance, performance and satisfaction scale were composed of 5-Likert scales. The main results of this study were summarized as follows: The degree of importance and performance on twenty three attributes and the degree of satisfaction with four dimensions and overall satisfaction were measured according to type of school, location of school, place for eating, type of foodservice system and type of foodservice operation. The importance score was significantly higher than the performance score at all quality attributes except for the food appearance. The performance score of ‘waiting time’ and ‘atmosphere’ was less than 3 point out of 5 scale. The average satisfaction score for the quality dimensions of food, sanitation and service was 3.35, 3.19 and 3.10 point out of 5 scale, respectively. The satisfaction score for dimension of environment was 2.93 point out of 5 scale. The score for overall satisfaction was 3.27 point out of 5 scale. The satisfaction score for elementary school foodservice management was significantly higher than middle and high school foodservices. The satisfaction score for commissary foodservice operations was significantly higher than conventional foodservice operations. Using survey results as a base, the dieticians of school foodservice are required to meet the needs of the students and increase students’ satisfaction.
