In the era of global aging and the retirement of baby boomers, the response is very intensive and dynamic. As baby boomers actually retire, the terms for middle-aged people have been diversified into middle-aged, midle-elderly, and the new middle, which are also evident in the training process. In line with the timing, the government and academia are also making efforts to advance the development of training courses for middle-aged, along with organizing terms for middle-aged. From this point of view, this study aims to analyze the performance of the three-year training courses (2018-2020) for the new middle at Korea Polytechnics and suggest the direction of development of the new middle training course. As a result of the study, the three-year performance of the Shin middle-aged training course gradually increased, but the completion rate and employment rate gradually decreased, indicating that countermeasures were needed. In addition, campus performance in the metropolitan area was higher than that in the non-capital area, so a plan for this deviation was needed. In addition, the need for the integrated operation of the existing 'middle-aged' and 'the new middle' courses operated by Korea Polytechnics was suggested, and measures to specialize in the new middle-aged were proposed.
Purpose: To evaluate the current status of utilization and implementation of health promotion programs for Korean middle-aged women in public health centers. Methods: Three-phase stratified sampling was done to select 1304 middle-aged women (aged 40-64 years) from all regions of Korea. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire for individual responses and mailed surveys to 126 public health centers. Descriptive statistics and $x^2$-test were done for data analysis. Results: Only 12 of the 126 public health centers (9.9%) implemented health promotion programs for middle-aged women, with the lack of manpower being cited as the main reason for the absence of programs. From individual responses, 11.3% had participated in health promotion programs offered by public health centers. The main reasons for not participating were inconvenient times and lack of information. Significant differences were found in the frequency of participation in programs, exercise programs and diabetes management according to the size of region. The majority of the respondents cited the need for medical services, followed by programs focused on stroke prevention and leisure time management. The responses on the willingness to participate followed a similar pattern. Conclusion: There are gaps between the utilization of health promotion programs by middle-aged women and what is offered by public health centers. The results of this study support the need to develop more health promotion programs focusing specifically on the needs of middle-aged women.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors related to leisure time to understand middle-aged one-person households. Data are from the recent survey of lifetime use in 2014 by Statistics Korea(N=1,138). Middle-aged one-person households aged 40-59 years were categorized into four groups by marital status (unmarried/married/widowed/divorced). Major results were found as follows: First, the total leisure time per day was 238 min in the middle-aged one-person households. The majority of the total leisure time was spent on 'fellowship & leisure activities'(204 min on weekdays, 283 min on weekends). Especially, time spent on real-time TV watching hours was the longest, as long as 89 min on weekday and 150 min on weekends. Second, gender differences were significant in terms of leisure time use in the middle-aged one-person households. Females spent less time on leisure than their male counterparts on both weekdays and weekends. In addition, gender differences related to marital status were significant. Third, on weekdays, the determinants of leisure time use among the middle-aged one-person households were health and type of employment for 'participation & volunteer activities', and gender, age, marital status, and type of employment variables for 'fellowship & leisure activities.' On weekends, time spent on 'participation & volunteer activities' were influenced by marital status, residential area, and type of employment, while time spent on 'fellowship & leisure activities' were significantly related to gender, type of employment, type of job, holiday system, and income.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The study was performed to investigate the degree of perceived stress by sex in middle-aged people, and to provide basic data for appropriate nutrition education and interventional measures for middle-aged subjects through comparative analysis of association between stress and dietary habits, emotional eating behavior, and insomnia. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A survey was conducted in 670 middle-aged subjects (320 men and 350 women) aged 40-64 years, resided in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 25.0 program. RESULTS: Perceived stress in middle-aged subjects was not different by sex. Stress was higher in men with low dietary habits level compared to other groups (P < 0.001), and was higher in women with low and moderate dietary habits level compared to women with high dietary habits level (P < 0.05). Stress in men was higher in the group with emotional eaters (P < 0.05), and the same result was shown in women (P < 0.001). Stress was higher in both men and women with poor sleep quality (P < 0.001). Stress score was positively correlated with emotional dietary behavior and insomnia (P < 0.001) and negatively correlated with dietary habits (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: It is considered that proper nutrition education and interventional measures according to sex are needed for stress control and proper dietary behavior and lifestyle in middle-aged people population, along with projects and policies at the national level.

This study aims to investigate predictors of the subjective well-being of middle-aged single mothers who experienced divorce or bereavement. The study involved 244 divorced or widowed women from the 7th Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families aged 40-60 who had children and were employed. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses were conducted. The research results showed that the socio-demographic characteristic (marital status and health), person-related variables (satisfaction with leisure activity and stress), and work-related variables (job satisfaction and work-family enrichment) were significantly related to happiness of middle-aged single mothers. Current economic status and stress were associated with depression in middle-aged single mothers. Increasing middle-aged single mothers' participation in healthy leisure activities, reducing their stress, and improving their satisfaction with work were found to be important to enhancing their subjective well-being. Regarding the foregoing, policy directions were discussed for middle-aged single mothers' leisure activities, stress management, and improved satisfaction with work.

This study is to investigate the effect of beauty lifestyle on the quality of life of middle-aged women. For this study, 417 middle-aged women aged 35-65 years living in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gwangju, Sejong, and Daejeon were conducted from February 27, 2021 to March 14, 2021. As a result of this study, the correlation of quality of life of middle-aged women according to beauty lifestyle was positively correlated in the order of show-off type, appearance-seeking type, practicality-seeking type, and fashion-seeking type. In addition, it was found that the practical pursuit of beauty lifestyle and the pursuit of show-off affect the quality of life of middle-aged women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop customized communication information and marketing strategies for beauty products based on the ambivalent perspective that pursues economic efficiency and luxury for the practical and flaunting types that can have a positive impact on the quality of life of middle-aged women.
This study analyzed whether depression and social support had a mediating effect between income status and life satisfaction of middle-aged and elderly people with disabilities using data from the 15th year of the Korea Welfare Panel data. As a result of the analysis, first, the income status of the middle-aged and disabled was depressed(B=.241, p<.001), social support(B=-.167, p<.001), and life satisfaction(B=-.277, p<.001) was confirmed to have a direct effect. Second, the mediating effect of depression and social support was verified on the influence between the income status of middle-aged and disabled people between life satisfaction. Third, it was confirmed that depression and social support had a multi-mediating effect between the income status and life satisfaction of middle-aged and disabled people. Therefore, an income support system that supports middle-aged and disabled people to live at an appropriate level should be prepared. In addition, in order to increase the life satisfaction of middle-aged and disabled people, it is necessary to intervene in mental health support services that can actively cope with depression and to expand the social support network.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for reducing daily stress and depression and improving happiness in middle-aged women by verifying the effect of daily stress on happiness and the mediating effect of depression. For the analysis, the 8th survey of the Women's Family Panel surveyed by the Korea Women's Policy Institute was used. For the sample, SPSS WIN 25.0 was used for 1,673 married middle-aged women aged 55 to 64. As for the analysis method, frequency, technical statistics, and correlation analysis were performed, and the mediating effect of depression was verified through Baron & Kenny's analysis method. The main analysis results are as follows. First, the stress daily of middle-aged women had a negative (-) effect on happiness. Second, Depression was partially mediated in the relationship between daily stress and happiness in middle-aged women. Based on these results, it is significant in that it presents practical and policy measures and programs that can improve middle-aged women's happiness and lead to old age.
The need for ready-to-wear clothing increases as the problem comes to arise from the fit of custommade clothing due to the characteristics of middle-aged women's somatotype. At this point of time, a study on the realities of production of custom-made clothing in middle-aged women's clothing business firms is of very greatly significance. Therefore, this study was intended to identify the problem and improvements through the survey research of production of custom-made clothing in middle-aged women's clothing business firms and further present the plan for development of custom-made clothing business. The questionnaire was framed based on the contents extracted from the preliminary questionnaire research for the pattern section chief of each business firm. Collected data were statistically processed using the SPSS 10.0 Windows program. As a result, the following findings were obtained: 1. The target age of the middle-aged women's clothing business firms ranged from more than 45 years to less than 50 years of age. Clothing business firms much made inroads into the ready-to-wear clothing market largely in the 1980s and the 1990s. Their active entry into the custom-made clothing market occurred in the 1970s and the 1980s. 2. In terms of the clothing production method of middle-aged women's clothing firms, some private boutique and designer brand clothing firms entered the clothing market with a focus on custom-made clothing in the beginning of its organization and introduced the production method of ready-to-wear clothing in accordance with changes in production methods and consumers' needs and wants. National brand clothing firms manufactured clothing with a focus on ready-to-wear clothing from the beginning of its organization, but at last they manufactured both partial custom-made and whole custom-made as the problem arose from ready-to-wear clothing. Seeing that their clothing production showed the ratio readyto-wear to custom-made clothing of 2.58:1. And it was found that the manufacture of ready-to-wear and custom-made clothing took into consideration the great difference in the pattern, size and design plan. The research of the clothing production process showed that whole custom-made and partial custommade were distinguished according to whether or not the sample was presented. 3. The ready-to-wear pattern of middle-aged women's clothing firms were used with a focus on the 'patternmaker-developed pattern' and company-developed pattern'. Most clothing businesses produced clothing in 4 to 5 basic sizes, which is found to be insufficient to complement the physical characteristics of middle-aged women with many specific somatotypes. In the pattern of custom-made clothing, the 'pattern of ready-to-wear were applied' or the 'customized pattern was developed'. Actual measurements were most used as the size of custom-made, and accordingly it is predicted that the level of satisfaction is higher with the fit of custom-made clothing than that of ready-to-wear. The selling place and the head office showed the similar percent as the place for measuring the size of custom-made clothing. Size measurers were mostly the shop master. And it was found that most clothing business firms had a problem when the measured size was applied to the pattern. Accordingly, it is necessary to provide education on size measurement for shop masters. 4. It was found that in the middle-aged women's clothing firms, the pattern correction of the length of sleeve, jacket and slacks occupied the highest percent. Accordingly, it is necessary to provide for the size system to complement the accurate somatotype characteristics of middle-aged women. 5. In custom-made clothing customer management, most firms engaged in customer somatotype management through size management. They provided customers with commodity information by informing them of the sales and event period and practiced human management for customers by maintaining the get-together and friendly relationship. 6. Middle-aged women's clothing businesses responded that it would be necessary to improve the fit of custom-made clothing and complement their pursuit for individuality as the plan to improve its quality. In consequence, it suggests that middle-aged women's clothing businesses should provide middle-aged women with the clothing of better-suited size and refined design. Middle-aged women's clothing businesses responded that it was the most urgent task to form the custom-made clothing manufacturing team as the plan to expand the custom-made clothing market, which is identified as their emphasis on the systematized production of custom-made clothing.
This study is an attempt to find out the meaning of game to middle-aged women who enjoy internet web board game as part of the leisure. In order to discover the perceptions and emotions of middle-aged women regarding game, in-depth interviews with the five women of 48 to 63-year-old were conducted. The results are: First, the web board games to middle-aged women is an opposition of labor, but at the same time a part of day-long procedure of labor. Second, most middle-aged women are not in an autonomous environment where they can pursue active hobbies. Third, middle-aged women do not tolerate sacrificing money or housework on game because the web board games are regarded as a worthless activity. Finally, middle-aged women do not transform the existing social relationships into online relationships, nor form new social relationships through internet.
