Coherent motion of fluxons in stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions of $Bi_2$$Sr_2$Ca$Cu_2$$O_{8+x}$ single crystals ($Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+x}$ 단결정 선천성 조셉슨 접합에서의 플럭손 결맞음 운동)

  • We studied the flux-flow current-voltage characteristics of microwave-generated fluxons formed in serially stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions fabricated on$ HgI_2$-intercalated $Bi_2$$Sr_2$$CaCu_2$O/8+x/(Bi2212) single crystals. With increasing the irradiation power of 73$\square$76 GHz microwave, the supercurrent branch became resistive and split into multiple sub -branches. Each sub-branch represented a specific mode of collective motion of Josephson fluxons. We also observed similar branch splitting In a mesa prepared on an underdoped Bi2212 single crystal in a static magnetic field.

The Change of $NO_{2}$ Sensing Characteristics for Carbon Nanotubes with Growth and Post Treatment Conditions (탄소 나노튜브의 성장 및 후처리 조건에 따른 이산화질소 감지특성의 변화)

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT) grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), and followed by annealing at $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ were investigated for gas sensing under 1.5ppm $NO_{2}$ concentration at an operating temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. The electrical resistance of CNT sensor decreased with temperature, indicating a semiconductor type. The resistance of CNT sensor decreased with $NO_{2}$ adsorption. It was found that the sensitivity of sensor was affected by humidity and decreased under microwave irradiation for 3 minutes. The CNT sensor grown by PECVD had a higher sensitivity than that of CVD.

  • The present paper reports on a trial to shed further light on the characterization, applications, and operation of radar speed guns or Gunn diodes on different radiation environments of neutron or g fields. To this end, theoretical and experimental investigations of microwave oscillating system for outer-space applications were carried out. Radiation effects on the transient parameters and electrical properties of the proposed devices have been studied in detail with the application of computer programming. Also, the oscillation parameters, power characteristics, and bias current were plotted under the influence of different ${\gamma}$ and neutron irradiation levels. Finally, shelf or oven annealing processes were shown to be satisfactory techniques to recover the initial characteristics of the irradiated devices.

  • ‘One-pot’ reaction procedure for the synthesis of novel morpholino pyrimidines (10-18) under microwave irradiation in ‘dry media’ in the presence of heterogeneous $NaHSO_4.SiO_2$ catalyst was developed. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antibacterial activities against clinically isolated bacterial strains namely Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cerues, Micrococcus luteus and Salmonella typhii and antifungal activities against fungal strains namely Aspergillus niger, Candida 6 and Candida 51. Structure activity relationship of the synthesized compounds against microbiological results was discussed.

Enhancement of NOx photo-oxidation by Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

  • Microwave hydrothermal-assisted sol-gel method was employed to synthesize the Fe doped TiO2 photocatalyst. The morphological analysis suggests anatase phase nanoparticles of ~20 nm with an SBET area of 283.99 ㎡/g. The doping of Fe ions in TiO2 created oxygen vacancies and Ti3+ species as revealed through the XPS analysis. The reduction of the band gap (3.1 to 2.8 eV) is occurred by doping effect. The as-prepared photocatalyst was applied for removal of NOx under solar light irradiation. The doping of Fe in TiO2 facilitates 75 % of NOx oxidation efficiency which is more than two-fold enhancement than the TiO2 photocatalyst. The possible reason of enhancement is associated with high surface area, oxygen vacancy, and reduction of the band gap. Also, the low production of toxic intermediates, NO2 gas, is further confirmed by Combustion Ion Chromatography. The mechanism related NOx oxidation by the doped photocatalyst is explained in this study.

  • 기존의 디스플레이 기슬은 마스크를 통해 특정 부분에만 유기재료를 증착시키는 방법을 사용하였으나, 기판의 크기가 커짐에 따라 공정조건에 제약이 발생하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해 최근 용액 공정에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 용액 공정은 기존 진공 증착 방식과 비교하였을 때 상온, 대기압에서 증착이 가능하며 경제적이고, 대면적 균일 증착에 유리하다는 장점이 있다. 반면, 용액 공정으로 제작한 소자는 시간이 지남에 따라 점차 전기적 특성이 변하는 aging effect를 보인다. Aging effect는 용액에 포함된 C기와 OH기 기반의 불순물의 영향으로 시간의 경과에 따라서 문턱전압, subthreshold swing 및 mobility 등의 전기적 특성이 변하는 현상으로 고품질의 박막을 형성하기 위해서는 고온의 열처리가 필요하다. 지금까지 고품질 박막 형성을 위한 열처리는 퍼니스 (furnace) 장비에서 주로 이루어졌는데, 시간이 오래 걸리고, 상대적으로 고온 공정이기 때문에 유리, 종이, 플라스틱과 같은 다양한 기판에 적용하기 어렵다는 단점이 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 $100^{\circ}C$ 이하의 저온에서도 열처리가 가능한 microwave irradiation (MWI) 방법을 이용하여 solution-processed InGaZnO TFT를 제작하였고, 기존의 열처리 방식인 furnace로 열처리한 TFT 소자와 aging effect를 비교하였다. 먼저, solution-processed IGZO TFT를 제작하기 위해 p type Si 기판을 열산화시켜서 100 nm의 SiO2 게이트 산화막을 성장시켰고, 스핀코팅 방법으로 a-IGZO 채널층을 형성하였다. 증착후 열처리를 위하여 1000 W의 마이크로웨이브 출력으로 15분간 MWI를 실시하여 a-IGZO TFT를 제작하였고, 비교를 위하여 furnace N2 gas 분위기에서 $600^{\circ}C$로 30분간 열처리한 TFT를 준비하였다. 제작된 직후의 TFT 특성을 평가한 결과, MWI 열처리한 소자가 퍼니스 열처리한 소자보다 높은 이동도, 낮은 subthreshold swing (SS)과 히스테리시스 전압을 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 한편, aging effect를 평가하기 위하여 제작 후에 30일 동안의 특성변화를 측정한 결과, MWI 열처리 소자는 30일 동안 문턱치 전압(VTH)의 변화량 ${\Delta}VTH=3.18[V]$ 변화되었지만, furnace 열처리 소자는 ${\Delta}VTH=8.56[V]$로 큰 변화가 있었다. 다음으로 SS의 변화량은 MWI 열처리 소자가 ${\Delta}SS=106.85[mV/dec]$인 반면에 퍼니스 열처리 소자는 ${\Delta}SS=299.2[mV/dec]$이었다. 그리고 전하 트래핑에 의해서 발생하는 게이트 히스테리시스 전압의 변화량은 MWI 열처리 소자에서 ${\Delta}V=0.5[V]$이었지만, 퍼니스 열처리 소자에서 ${\Delta}V=5.8[V]$의 큰 수치를 보였다. 결과적으로 MWI 열처리 방식이 퍼니스 열처리 방식보다 소자의 성능이 우수할 뿐만 아니라 aging effect가 개선된 것을 확인할 수 있었고 차세대 디스플레이 공정에 있어서 전기적, 화학적 특성을 개선하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Reflection of Rabbit Nervous Tissue After Electromagnetic Irradiation and the Effect of Nimodipine Injection (전자파에 노출된 토끼의 뇌신경조직의 반응과 Nimodipine 투여효과에 관한 연구)

  • Electromagnetic waves may induce various effects on nervous tissues either by thermal or non-thermal mechanisms. This paper intoduces a method to evalute the non-thermal effect to central nervous system by measuring the EEGs of the rabbits treated by nimodipine before exposed to weak microwave field. 20 rabbits were divided into 2 groups and their EEGs were measured after their head section were exposed to 2,450 MHz microwave with the power density of 10 dBm and 20 dBm respectively for 10 minutes and compared with those of the 3rd group of 10 rabbits which were not exposed. The 4th group of 10 rabbits were intravenously given with nimodipine before exposed to 20 dBm field to determine whether this drug would reverse the EEGs changes induced by weak microwave irradiation. As field poser exceeded 20 dBm although no significant physiological changes were observed, total induced EEGs power was remarkably decreased suggesting the presence of CNS activation. Using Fourier analysis on the EEGs signal it was found that remarkable decrease in delta band and increase in the alpha and beta bands in a significant manner(P<0.05) compared to control group. The changes were, however, not reversed by nimodipine-treatment. The effects may be pure thermal in nature because no significant change has been observed in nimodipine treated rabbits.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Dyes using CdSe-Mn-C60 Nanocomposites

  • CdSe-Mn nanocomposites were synthesized using a microwave method with sodium sulfite (Na2SO3), selenium (Se), cadmium sulfate octahydrate (3CdSO4·8H2O), ammonia solution (NH3·H2O), and manganese (II) sulfate monohydrate (MnSO4·H2O). We obtained CdSe-Mn-C60 nanocomposites by calcining CdSe-Mn nanocomposites and fullerene (C60) in an electric furnace at 700 ℃ for 2 h. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the crystal structures, lattice vibrations, and surface morphologies of the products, respectively. The photocatalytic activities of the CdSe-Mn-C60 nanocomposites were investigated based on the photocatalytic degradations of organic dyes such as BG, MB, MO, and RhB under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation at 254 nm. UV-visible spectrophotometry was used to confirm the degradation process.

Synthesis and Property of Carbon Nanotube-Supported Pd and Pt Nanoparticles (탄소나노 튜브위에 성장된 Pd 및 Pt 나노 입자의 제조 및 특성)

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were used as a catalyst support where catalytically active Pd and Pt metal particles decorated the outside of the external CNT walls. In this study, Pd and Pt nanoparticles supported on $HNO_3$-treated CNT were prepared by microwave-assisted heating of the polyol process using $PdCl_2$ and $H_2PtCl_6{\codt}6H_2O$ precursors, respectively, and were then characterized by SEM, TEM, and Raman. Raman spectroscopy showed that the acid treated CNT had a higher intensity ratio of $I_D/I_G$ compared to that of non-treated CNT, indicating the formation of defects or functional groups on CNT after chemical oxidation. Microwave irradiation for total two minutes resulted in the formation of Pd and Pt nanoparticles on the acid treated CNT. The sizes of Pd and Pt nanoparticles were found to be less than 10 nm and 3 nm, respectively. Furthermore, the $SnO_2$ films doped with CNT decorated by Pd and Pt nanoparticles were prepared, and then the $NO_2$ gas response of these sensor films was evaluated under $1{\sim}5\;ppm$ $NO_2$ concentration at $200^{\circ}C$. It was found that the sensing property of the $SnO_2$ film sensor on $NO_2$ gas was greatly improved by the addition of CNT-supported Pd and Pt nanoparticles.

Growth Behavior of Aluminum Borate Whisker under 2.45 GHz Electromagnetic Irradiation (2.45 GHz 전자기파 조사하에서 Aluminum Borate Whisker의 성장 거동)

  • With starting materials of two different powder mixtures, $Al_2$(S $O_4$)$_3$+xNa$_2$B$_4$ $O_{7}$$.$10$H_2O$(㏖ ratio; x=0.1, 0.7) and ${\gamma}$-Al$_2$ $O_3$+xNa$_2$B$_4$ $O_{7}$$.$10$H_2O$(㏖ ratio; x=0.1, 0.7), whisker-type $Al_{18}$B$_4$ $O_{33}$ particles were synthesized by using conventional and microwave heat-treatment. The effects of microwave, amount of flux and temperature on the growth of whisker-type $Al_{18}$B$_4$ $O_{33}$ particles were investigated by using X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). With increase of heat-treatment temperature and amount of flux, the size of whisker-type $Al_{18}$B$_4$ $O_{33}$ particles increased in both conventional and microwave heat-treated samples. However, compared to the conventional heat-treated samples, whisker-type $Al_{18}$B$_4$ $O_{33}$ particles were well grown for the microwave heat-treated samples.ted samples.
