Unsized AS-4 carbon fibers were etched by RF plasma and then coated via plasma polymerization in order to enhance adhesion to vinyl ester resin. The gases utilized for the plasma etching were Ar, $N_2 and O_2$, while the monomers used for the plasma polymerization coating were acetylene, butadiene and acrylonitrile. The conditions for the plasma etching and the plasma polymerization were optimized by measuring interfacial adhesion with vinyl ester resin via micro-droplet tests. Among the treatment conditions, the combination of Ar plasma etching and acetylene plasma polymerization provided greatly improved interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of 69MPa compared to 43MPa with as-received carbon fiber. Based on the SEM analysis of failure surface and load-displacement curve, it was assume that the failure might be occurred at the carbon fiber and plasma polymer coating. The plasma etched and plasma polymer coated carbon fibers were subjected to analysis with SEM, XPS, FT-IR or Alpha-Step, and dynamic contact angles and tensile strengths were also evaluated. Plasma polymer coatings did not change tensile strength and surface roughness of fibers, but decreased water contact angle except butadiene plasma polymer coating, possibly owing to the functional groups introduced, as evidenced by FT-IR and XPS.
we have demonstrated structural evolution and optical properties of Si-nanowires (NWs) synthesized on Si (111) substrates with nanoscale Au-Si islands by rapid thermal chemical vapor deposition (RTCVD). The Au-Si nano-islands (10-50nm in diameter) were employed as a liquid-droplet catalysis to grow Si-NWs via vapor-liquid-solid mechanism. The Si-NWs were grown by a mixture gas of SiH4 and H2 at a pressure of 1.0 Torr and temperatures of $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$. Scanning electron microscopy measurements showed that the Si-NWs are uniformly sized and vertically well-aligned along <111> direction on Si (111) surfaces. The resulting NWs are ${\sim}60nm$ in average diameter and ${\sim}5um$ in average length. High resolution transmission microscopy measurements indicated that the NWs are single crystals covered with amorphous SiOx layers of ${\sim}3nm$ thickness. In addition, the optical properties of the NWs were investigated by micro-Raman spectroscopy. The downshift and asymmetric broadening of the Si main optical phonon peak were observed in Raman spectra of Si-NWs, which indicates a minute stress effects on Raman spectra due to a slight lattice distortion led by lattice expansion of Si-NW structures.

SEM measurements showed the formation of Si-NWs well-aligned vertically for Si (111) surfaces. The resulting NWs are 30-100nm in diameter and $0.4{\sim}12um$ in length depending on growth conditions. HR-TEM measurements indicated that Si-NWs are single crystals convered with about 3nm thick layers of amorphous oxide. In addition, optical properties of NWs were investigated by micro-Raman spectroscopy. The downshift and asymmetric broadening of the Si optical phonon peak with a shoulder at $480cm^{-1}$ were observed in Raman spectra of Si-NWs.

Distal 3D Real Object Duplication System(RODS) consists of 3D Scanner and Solid Freeform Fabrication System(SFFS). It is a device to make three-dimensional objects directly from the drawing or the scanning data. In this research, we developed an office type SFFS based on Three Dimensional Printing Process and a industrial SFFS using Dual Laser. An office type SFFS applied sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer(SMCSPO) algorithm for control of this system. And we measured process variables about droplet diameter measurement and powder bed formation etc. through experiments. Also, in order to develop more elaborate and speedy system for large objects than existing SLS process, this study applies a new Selective Multi-Laser Sintering(SMLS) process and 3-axis dynamic Focusing Scanner for scanning large area instead of the existing $f\theta$ lens. In this process, the temperature has a great influence on sintering of the polymer. Also the laser parameters are considered like that laser beam power, scan speed, scan spacing. Now, this study is in progress to eveluate the effect of experimental parameters on the sintering process.

We have grown GaN nanowires by the low pressure MOCVD method on Ni deposited oxidized Si surface and have established optimum conditions by observing surface microstructure and its photoluminescence. Optimum growth temperature of $880^{\circ}C$, growth time of 30 min, TMG source flow rate of 10 sccm have resulted in dense nanowires on the surface, however further increase of growth time or TMG flow rate has not increased the length of nanowire but has formed nanocrystals. On the contrary, the increase of ammonia flow has increased the length of nanowires and the coverage of nanowire over the surface. The shape of nanowire is needle-like with a Ni droplet at its tip; the length is tens of micron with more than 40 nm in diameter. Low temperature photoluminescence obtained from the sample at optimum growth condition has revealed several peaks related to exciton decay near band-edge, but does not show any characteristic originated from one dimensional quantum confinement. Strong and broad luminescence at 2.2 eV is observed from dense nanowire samples and this suggests that the broad band is related to e-h recombination at the surface state in a nanowire. The current result is implemented to the nanowire device fabrication by nanowire bridging between micro-patterned neighboring Ni catalysis islands.

An off-surface flow visualization experiments have been performed to investigate the flow field over a delta wing with the leading edge extension(LEX). The model is a flat wing with $65^{\circ}$ sweepback angle. The free stream velocity is 6.2 m/s, which corresponds to Reynolds number of $4.4\times10^5$ based on the wing root chord. The angle of attack and sideslip angle range from $16^{\circ}\sim28^{\circ}$ and $0^{\circ}\sim-15^{\circ}$, respectively. The visualization technique of using the micro water-droplet and the laser beam sheet enabled to observe the vortical flow structures, which can not be obtained by 5-hole probe measurements. With sideslip angle, the interaction and breakdown of the LEX and wing vortices was promoted in the windward side, whereas, it was suppressed in the leeward side.

Nowadays medical treatment service increase due to ageing population and improving the quality of life. Accordingly it is predicted that drug discovery market will expansion continuously. Therefore it is necessary that profit creation by drug discovery on the global market is important. HCS(High Contents Screening) has been emerging as a potential method to solve problems of the present drug discovery. This research is about liquid dispenser for HCS. The purpose of this research is to manufacture high performance liquid dispenser for HCS. The dispenser is designed to control 5 liquids separately. The liquid contact parts are designed disposably, biocompatibly and chemically inertly. Air curtain is equipped at the side of tip to dispense very small liquid volume and to prevent hanging drop on tip. Valving is performed by just controlling the pressure of the pressure driven pump without valve.
Biomedical metal implants have been used clinically for replacement, restoration, or improvement of injury bodies based on high mechanical properties, but it has some risks such as the inflammatory, late thrombosis, or restenosis due to the low biocompatibility and toxicity. In various techniques of surface treatment developed to preserve these drawbacks, this study examined the electrospray coating technology with biodegradable poly (lactic-co-glycoic acid) (PLGA) on metal surface. Based on fundamental examination of electrospraying and solution parameters, the surface morphology of coated film was closely related to the boiling point of solvent, in-flight distance, and droplet size. The thickness of polymer film was linearly proportional to the emerged volume. This result exhibits that the polymeric droplets were continuously deposited on the polymer film. Therefore, the electrospray coating technology might be applied into the fabrication of single/multi-layered polymer film in nano-/micro-thickness and the control of the topology for biomedical metal implants including stents.

This paper is a study on the optimal microdroplet generation conditions in indirect charging electrostatic spraying. Unlike the direct charging method, which applies power to the nozzle, the indirect charging method applies power to the discharge electrode between the nozzle and the collection electrode. Therefore, an electrically simplified system can be obtained by minimizing the insulation part a stable spray pattern can be obtained with a wide spray angle, and a stable spray pattern can be obtained with a wide spray angle. To conduct the study, an indirect charging type electrostatic spray visualization system was constructed and the static characteristics of the microdroplets were analyzed through image processing of the spray shape of the microdroplets. The total number of microdroplets and the number of microdroplets per power consumption are confirmed according to the changes in the distance between the discharge electrode and the collection electrode, the flow rate, and the applied voltage, which affect the generation of microdroplets, and using this, the optimal generation conditions are derived and the corresponding microdroplet size distribution was analyzed. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the optimal generation condition was at a flow rate of 15 to 20 mL/min and a voltage of -22.5 to -25 kV in terms of the number of microdroplets, and at a flow rate of 15 to 20 mL/min and a voltage of -20 kV in terms of energy consumption efficiency.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate bonding efficacy by means of measuring the effect of remained solvent on Degree of conversion(DC) and ${\mu}TBS$ and FE-SEM examination. Materials and Methods: Two 2-step total etching adhesives and two single-step self etching adhesives were used in this study. First, volume weight loss of 4 dentin adhesives were measured using weighting machine in process of time in normal conditions and calculate degree of evaporation (DE). Reaction/reference intensity ratio were measured using micro-Raman spectroscopy and calculate DC according to DE. Then 2 experimental groups were prepared according to air-drying methods (under, over) and control group was prepared to manufacturer's instruction. Total 12 groups were evaluated by means of micro tensile bond strength and FE-SEM examination. Results: Degree of evaporation (DE) was increased as time elapsed but different features were observed according to the kind of solvents. Acetone based adhesive showed higher DE than ethanol and butanol based adhesive. Degree of conversion (DC) was increased according to DE except for $S^3$ bond. In ${\mu}TBS$ evaluation, bond strength was increased by additional air-drying. Large gaps and droplets were observed in acetone based adhesives by FE-SEM pictures. Conclusions: Additional air-drying is recommended for single-step self etching adhesive but careful consideration is required for 2-step total etching adhesive because of oxygen inhibition layer. Evaporation method is carefully chose and applied according to the solvent type.
