Design and fabrication process of a full inorganic electroluminescent microdislay based on aluminum / nanostructured porous silicon reverse biased light emitting Schottky diodes are discussing. Being of a solid state construction. this micro-display is cost-effective, thin and light in weight due to very simple device architecture. Its benefits include also super high resolution, wide viewing angles, fast response time and wide operating temperature range. The advantages of full integration of a LED-array and driving circuitry onto a Si-chip will be also discussed.
Droplet impinging into a cavity at micro-scale is one of important fluidic issues for microfabrications, e.g. bio-chip applications and inkjet deposition processes in the PLED panel manufacturing. The droplets generally dispensing from an inkjet head, which contains an array of nozzles, have a volume in several picoliters, while each nozzle jets the droplets into cavities with micron-meter size located on substrates. Due to measurement difficulties at micro-scale, the numerical simulation could serve as an efficient and preliminary way to evaluate the micro-sized droplet impinging behavior into a cavity. The micro-fluidic flow is computed by solving the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations through a finite volume discretization. The droplet front is predicted by a volume-of-fluid approach, in which the surface tension is modeled as a function of the fluid concentration. This paper discusses the influence of fluid properties, such as surface tension and fluid viscosity, on micro-fluidic characteristics at different jetting speeds in the deposition process via the proposed numerical approach.
Nano and micro structure-based biosensors are promising tool for label-free detection of biomolecular interactions with great accuracy. This review gives a brief survey on nano and micro platforms to sense a variety of analytes such as DNA, proteins and viruses. Among incredible nano and micro structure for bio-analytical applications, the scope of this paper will be limited to micro and nano resonators and nanowire field-effect transistors. Nanomechanical motion of the resonators transducers biological information to readable signals. They are commonly combined with an optical, capacitive or piezo-resistive detection systems. Binding of target molecule to the modified surface of nanowire modulates the current of the nanowire through electrical field-effect. Both detection methods have advantages of label-free, real-time and high sensitive detection. These structures can be extended to fabricate array-type sensors for multiplexed detection and high-throughput analysis. The biosensors based on these structures will be applied to lab-on-a-chip platforms and point-of-care diagnostics. Basic concepts including detection mechanisms and trends in their fields will be covered in this review.

The ferroelectric RAM (FeRAM) has a great advantage for a system on a chip (SOC) and mobile product memory, since FeRAM not only supports non-volatility but also delivers a fast memory access similar to that of DRAM and SRAM. This work develops at three levels: 1) low voltage operation with boost voltage control of bitline and plateline, 2) reducing bitline capacitance with multiple divided sub cell array, and 3) increasing chip performance with write operation sharing both active and precharge time period. The key techniques are implemented on the proposed hierarchy bitline scheme with proposed hybrid-bitline and high voltage boost control. The test chip and simulation results show the performance of sub-1.5 voltage operation with single step pumping voltage and self-boost control in a cell array block of 1024 ($64{\;}{\times}{\;}16$) rows and 64 columns.
Physical signals generated in the real world are transformed into electrical signals through sensors and fed into electronic circuits. The electrical signals input to electronic circuits are in analog form, thus they must be converted to digital signals using an ADC(Analog-Digital Converter) for digital processing. Signal processing circuits and ADCs that are to be integrated on a single chip together with silicon micro sensors should be designed to have less silicon area and less power consumption. This paper proposed a charge redistribution ADC which reduces silicon area considerably. The proposed method achieves 8 bit conversion by performing 4-bit conversion twice. It reduced the area of capacitor array, which takes most of the ADC area, by 1/16 when compared to a conventional method. Though it uses twice the number of clocks as a conventional method, it would be appropriate to be integrated with a silicon pressure sensor on a single chip since it does not demand high conversion rate.
This paper describes the numerical prediction of the thermal fatigue life of a $\mu$BGA(Micro Ball Grid Array) solder joint. Finite element analysis(FEA) was employed to simulate thermal cycling loading for solder joint reliability. Strain values, along with the result of mechanical fatigue tests for solder alloys were then used to predict the solder joint fatigue life using the Coffin-Manson equation. The results show that Sn-3.5mass%Ag solder had the longest thermal fatigue life in low cycle fatigue. Also a practical correlation for the prediction of the thermal fatigue life was suggested by using the dimensionless variable ${\gamma}$, which was possible to use several lead free solder alloys for prediction of thermal fatigue life. Furthermore, when the contact angle of the ball and chip has 50 degrees, solder joint has longest fatigue life.
Digital PCR (dPCR) is the third-generation PCR that enables real-time absolute quantification without reference materials. Recently, global diagnosis companies have developed new dPCR equipment. In line with the development, the Lab On An Array (LOAA) dPCR analyzer (Optolane) was launched last year. The LOAA dPCR is a semiconductor chip-based separation PCR type equipment. The LOAA dPCR includes Micro Electro Mechanical System that can be injected by partitioning the target gene into 56 to 20,000 wells. The amount of target gene per wells is digitized to 0 or 1 as the number of well gradually increases to 20,000 wells because its principle follows Poisson distribution, which allows the LOAA dPCR to perform precise absolute quantification. LOAA determined region of interest first prior to dPCR operation. To exclude invalid wells for the quantification, the LOAA dPCR has applied various filtering methods using brightness, slope, baseline, and noise filters. As the coronavirus disease 2019 has now spread around the world, needs for diagnostic equipment of point of care testing (POCT) are increasing. The LOAA dPCR is expected to be suitable for POCT diagnosis due to its compact size and high accuracy. Here, we describe the quantitative principle of the LOAA dPCR and suggest that it can be applied to various fields.

The side burrs and shape distortion resulting from the micromachining of an array of V-shape microgrooves in optical components were experimentally invesigated and a simplified model for their formation is proposed. Burr/shpae distortion should be kept to a minimum level since they degrade the characteristics and performance of these parts. The focus of this study is on the influence of depth of cut and workpiece material. The workpiece materials use were brass, bronze and copper. From the obsevation of the chip shape and burr/shape distortion, the proposed model, that the compressive force at the cutting edge causess the ductile uncut chip material to flow plastically outward toward the free surface to result in a burr, was verified.
Optical fiber is indispensable for optical communication systems that transmit large volumes of data at high speed, but super precision technology in sub-micron units is required for optical axis adjustment. We developed the automatic optical fiber by image processing and automatic loading system. we have developed 6-axis micro stage system for I/O optical fiber arrays, the initial automatic aligning system software for a input optical array by the image processing technique, fast I/O-synchronous aligning strategy, the automatic loading/unloading system and the automatic UV bonding mechanism. In order to adjust the alignment it used on PC based motion controller, a $10{\mu}m$ repeat-detailed drawing of automatic loading system is developed by a primary line up for high detailed drawing. Also, at this researches used the image processing system and algorithm instead of the existing a primary hand-line up and fiber input array and waveguide chip formed in line by automatic.

Microarrayer is used to make DNA chip and microarray that contain hundreds to thousands of immobilized DNA probes on surface of a microscope slide. This paper shows the develop-ment results for a printing type of microarrayer. It realizes a typical, low-cost and efficient microarrayer for generating low density micro array. The microarrayer is developed by using a prependicular type robot with three axes. It is composed of a computer-controlled three-axes robot and a pen tip assembly. The key component of the arrayer is the print-head containing the tips to immobilize cDNA, genomic DNA or similar biological material on glass surface. The robot is designed to automatically collect probes from two 96-well plates with up to 12 pens at the same time. To prove the performance of the developed microarrayer, we use the general water types of inks such as black, blue and red. The inks are distributed at proper positions of 96 well plates and the three color inks are immobilized on the slide glass under the operation procedure. As the result of the test, we can see that it has sufficient performance for the production of low integrated DNA chip consisted of 96 spots within $1cm^2$ area.
