In this research, the nonlinear static, buckling and vibration analysis of viscoelastic micro-composite beam reinforced by various distributions of boron nitrid nanotube (BNNT) with initial geometrical imperfection by modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) using finite element method (FEM) are presented. The various distributions of BNNT are considered as UD, FG-V and FG-X and also, the extended rule of mixture is used to estimate the properties of micro-composite beam. The components of stress are dependent to mechanical, electrical and thermal terms and calculated using piezoelasticity theory. Then, the kinematic equations of micro-composite beam using the displacement fields are obtained. The governing equations of motion are derived using energy method and Hamilton's principle based on MSGT. Then, using FEM, these equations are solved. Finally the effects of different parameters such as initial geometrical imperfection, various distributions of nanotube, damping coefficient, piezoelectric constant, slenderness ratio, Winkler spring constant, Pasternak shear constant, various boundary conditions and three material length scale parameters on the behavior of nonlinear static, buckling and vibration of micro-composite beam are investigated. The results indicate that with an increase in the geometrical imperfection parameter, the stiffness of micro-composite beam increases and thus the non-dimensional nonlinear frequency of the micro structure reduces gradually.
In a micro-scale contact, capillary force and van der Waals interaction significantly influence the contact between asperities of rough surfaces. Little is, however, known about the variation of these surface forces as a function of chemical property of the surface (wet angle), relative humidity and deformation of asperities in the real area of contact. A better understanding of these surface forces is of great necessity in order to find a solution for reducing friction and adhesion of micro surfaces. The objective of this study is to investigate the surface forces in micro-scale rough surface contact. We proposed an effective method to analyze capillary and van der Waals forces in micro-scale contact. In this method, Winkler spring model was employed to analyze the contact of rough surfaces that were obtained from atomic force microscopy (AFM) height images. Self-mated contact of DLC(diamond like carbon) coatings was analyzed, as an example, by the proposed model. It was shown that the capillary force was significantly influenced by relative humidity and wet angle of the DLC surface. The deformation of asperities to a critical magnitude by external loading led to a considerable increase of both capillary and van der Waals forces.
To predict the behavior of the intravascular micro active endoscope in the real human vascular system, a human mock circulation system was developed. The intravascular micro active endoscope which consists of micro active bending catheter and micro drug infusion catheter was driven in the velocity, Re number and temperature controlled flow. The three SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) zigzag type spring in the micro active bending catheter was heated by the electric current generated by PWM controller, and the shape memory effect made the actuator bend to any direction. The micro drug infusion catheter was driven through the inner hole of the micro active bending catheter. A mock circulation system is shaped from Ascending Arota to Femoral artery according to a human data (the data contains many vascular sizes and hydrographs of many control points). We developed a vascular model with glass and silicone tubes, and set the flow system with circulation parts, flow settling parts, and lots of valves. The heater and heat-controller was added to the How system to centre! the temperature of the How at 36.5$^{\circ}C$. The result showed that the developed intravascular micro active endoscope could be induced to any point in the vascular model.
Many different cells types have been found to be highly sensitive to mechanical force imposed by their surroundings. The cellular response to external mechanical forces has very important effects on numerous biological phenomena. In spite of its importance in biological processes, the cell adhesion force remains difficult to measure quantitatively at the cellular level. In this paper, to enhance quantitative measurements of cell adhesive interactions, a new attaching system and a method in which a glass bead can be attached to an AFM cantilever was designed and fabricated, and the degree of range displacement was controlled in the system. In an experiment, the movement of the stage in the attaching system and the attaching process were measured. The effectiveness of this system was confirmed as well in the experiment. In addition, through a commercial AFM system, the spring constant of the modified AFM probe could be measured.
In this study, Dual servo mechanism with VCM(Voice Coil Motor) and PZT is designed for a high precision force and position control. We designed the VCM actuator and dual servo mechanism with leaf spring. VCM actuators, with their high linearity, simple structure, low weight, and high efficiency, are increasingly being used in micro-positioning applications. There are many kinds of VCM with a structure. VCM actuators are divided into two types by moving parts. One is moving magnet type and the other moving coil type. We described the properties of these two types of VCM. Design parameters of VCM are defined through the FEM simulation analysis of magnetic field and dynamic model of dual servo mechanism. These researches help to for decreasing loss in the air gap of VCM. We present dual servo mechanism is effective mechanism for a force control in hi h precision, properties of designed VCM.
In this paper, using surface micromachining technology with thick photoresist and aluminum, an SLM(Spatial Light Modulator), which is applied to the fields of adaptive optics and pattern recognition system, was fabricated and the electromechanical properties of the fabricated micro SLM are measured. In order to maximize fill-factor and remove mechanical coupling between micro SLM actuators, the micro SLM is composed of three aluminum layers so that spring structure and upper electrode are placed beneath the mirror plate, and $10\times10$ each mirror plate is individually actuated. Also, the micro SLM was designed to be able to modulate phase and amplitude of incoming light in order to have a continuity of phase modulation of incoming light. In the case of amplitude and phase modulation, maximum vertical displacement is 4$\mum$, and maximum angular displacement is $\pm4.6^{\corc}$ respectively. The height difference of the fabricated mirror plate was able to be reduced to 1100A with mirror plate planarization method using negative photoresist(AZ5214). The electromechanical properties of the fabricated micro SLM were measured with the optical measurement system using He-Ne laser and PSD(position sensitive device).

A piezo-actuator is an important component for an E-beam lithography system. But it is very difficult to model its characteristics due to nonlinearities such as hysteresis and creep, to the input voltage. In this paper, one-axis micro stage with a piezo-actuator is modeled including the nonlinear properties. Hysteresis and creep are modeled as the first order differential equation and a time-dependent logarithmic function, respectively. The dynamic motion of the stage is also modeled as a mass-spring-damper system and the parameters are determined by utilizing the system identification technique. The simulation tool for a micro stage is constructed using the commercial software and its simulation results are compared with the experimental data.
