The importance of data is increasing at a high rate as data is massively generated and taken into account in various policy supports and contents. However, because of their speed of growth, it is difficult to find the data that is needed. Both the methodological elements that summarize the data and the technical elements of the visualization that help to see at a glance are important. This paper summarizes data visualization methods to improve the currently used design - oriented infographics and propose data - centric infographics. In addition, we will present examples of data analysis and infographics production using Tableau Public. The Gwangju metropolitan city bus user data was used for infographics production, and the results show that the total number of passengers using the stopping point is similar to that of the general passengers, while it is different from the numbers of transit passengers and teen riding-and-transit passengers. Data-centric infographics visualization, unlike existing infographics that is pronounced only as a visual role, is expected to be used as a tool for scientific research as well as efficiently delivering data.
The aim of the study is to analyze urban characteristics that affect carbon emissions of buildings. The analysis was conducted at the level of 424 administrative districts in Seoul. The main variables used in the analysis were energy consumption and carbon emissions of buildings published in the Seoul Metropolitan Government's energy information platform 2021. It was found that carbon emissions per unit building were high in Jongno, Gangnam, Guro, and Mok-dong. A regression analysis using the spatial lag model (SLM) identifies that the variables that affect the carbon emissions of buildings were; commercial, educational, business and industrial facility variables as built environment factor; number of residents; traffic volume, number of bus routes and number of subway stations as transportation facilities factors; and environmental factors such as green area and river area.

Recently, e-scooters have been attracting attention as eco-friendly modes of transportation in cities due to an increasing interest in the environment. Accordingly, various studies on usage behavior are being conducted, but studies that reflect individual travel attitudes are insufficient. Therefore, this study surveyed commuters in Seoul and analyzed respondents' traveling attitudes through factor analysis. It also built a binary logistic regression model for the intention to use shared e-scooters to determine how individual travel behaviors are affected. In particular, the model results showed that age, the main mode of transportation (car), walking time to the bus stop, and four travel attitude variables (disutility of travel, preference to self-drive, internet/smartphone friendliness, and willingness to pay extra money for services) significantly affected the intention to use shared e-scooters. This study is expected to be used as basic data, with aspect to travel behavior, for the efficient operation and use of shared e-scooters in the future.
Transportation is from an individual mobility. Various efforts to propose specific values or the individual mobility have been conducted in diverse transportation environment. However, mobility studies for multimodal public transportation are rare especially on not the range of line but area. This study propose a method to calculate transit mobility indices as expanding mobility analysis from point-to-point to area-to-area, considering access time to transit facility, running time and transfer time of passengers. To extract mobility indices, we included walking as a lowest category of mode and set passenger car as a competitive mode to transit mode. This study propose three public transportation mobility indices as 1) how competitive public transportation facility is offered against passenger car 2) how convenient transit mode including walking is provided against passenger car from origin to destination and 3) how many various paths are presented to support passenger's travel between regions. These indices are tested on the Seoul metropolitan area with 10 lines of urban rail and about 420 lines of bus. In addition, we proposed two political applications of proposed mobility indices to increase public transportation mobility between two regions and to maximize the mobility of study area when a line is added in the area.

This research suggested the traffic signal calculation model of active transit signal priority using a shockwave model. Using this signal priority timing optimization model, the shockwave area is computed under the condition of Early Green and Green Extension among active transit signal priority techniques. This study suggested the speed estimation method of backward shockwave using average travel time and intersection passing time. A shockwave area change is calculated according to signal timing change of transit signal priority. Moreover, this signal timing calculation model could determine the optimal signal priority timings to minimize intersection delay of general vehicles. A micro simulation analysis using VISSIM and its user application model ComInterface was applied. This study checked that this model could calculate the signal timings to minimize intersection delay considering saturation condition of traffic flow. In case studies using an isolated intersection, this study checked that this model could improve general vehicle delay of more over ten percentage as compared with equality reduction strategy of non-priority phases. Recently, transit priority facilities are spreading such as tram, BRT and median bus lane in Korea. This research has an important significance in that the proposed priority model is a new methodology that improve operation efficiency of signal intersection.

This study evaluated the long-term performance of RSR (Reinforced Subgrade for Railways) technology which increases the railway line capacity without the need for additional land. Its characteristics include the use of a short reinforcement with rigid wall, which make it possible to apply it in confined spaces. The 7m high and 40m long testbed employed to evaluate the long-term performance was designed and constructed near Jupo station on the Chang-hang line. This line, located close to a local bus route, had collapsed at the subgrade following heavy rainfall. The performance of the new type of subgrade was verified with long term measurements over a 2 year period including the surface and ground settlement, horizontal displacement of the wall, tensile strain of the reinforcement, and settlement of the rail top on the side track. Based on the results of the measurements made until now, we concluded that it had sufficient safety and serviceability for use as a railway subgrade. It is expected that RSR technology could be frequently used at sites which lack the necessary construction materials for an embankment and are located close to functional railway lines and boundaries, in order to settle civil complaints.

This study aims to calculate reliable sectional travel speeds with the consideration of the characteristics of the probe data collected in the interrupted traffic flow. First, in order to analysis the characteristics of the probe data, we looked into the distribution of the sectional travel times of each probe vehicle and compared the difference in the sectional travel speeds of each probe vehicle collected by DSRC. As a result, it is shown that outliers should be removed for the distribution of the sectional travel times. However, The comparison results show that the sectional travel speeds from the DSRC probe vehicles are not significantly different. Finally, based on the distribution characteristics of the sectional travel speeds of each probe vehicle and the representative values counted during a collection period, we drew the optimal outlier removal procedure and evaluated the estimation errors. The evaluation results showed that the DSRC sectional travel speeds were found to be similar to the observed values from actually running vehicles. On the contrary, in the case of the sectional travel speeds of intra-city bus, it was analyzed that they were less accurate than the DSRC sectional travel speeds. In the future, it will be necessary to improve BIS process and make use of the travel information on intra-city buses collected in real time to find various ways of applying it as traffic information.
Recognition for the importance and roles of public transportation is increasing because of traffic problems in many cities. In spite of this paradigm change, previous researches related with public transportation trip assignment have limits in some aspects. Especially, in case of multimodal public transportation networks, many characters should be considered such as transfers. operational time schedules, waiting time and travel cost. After metropolitan integrated transfer discount system was carried out, transfer trips are increasing among traffic modes and this takes the variation of users' route choices. Moreover, the advent of high-technology public transportation card called smart card, public transportation users' travel information can be recorded automatically and this gives many researchers new analytical methodology for multimodal public transportation networks. In this paper, it is suggested that the methodology for establishment of brand new multimodal public transportation networks based on computer programming methods using transportation card data. First, we propose the building method of integrated transportation networks based on bus and urban railroad stations in order to make full use of travel information from transportation card data. Second, it is offered how to connect the broken transfer links by computer-based programming techniques. This is very helpful to solve the transfer problems that existing transportation networks have. Lastly, we give the methodology for users' paths finding and network establishment among multi-modes in multimodal public transportation networks. By using proposed methodology in this research, it becomes easy to build multimodal public transportation networks with existing bus and urban railroad station coordinates. Also, without extra works including transfer links connection, it is possible to make large-scaled multimodal public transportation networks. In the end, this study can contribute to solve users' paths finding problem among multi-modes which is regarded as an unsolved issue in existing transportation networks.

Recently in Korea, in the case of metropolis, the urban signalized intersections are controlled by traffic information center or ITS center. Cheon-an City also established traffic information center through the 1st.-$\sim$3rd. ITS public construction and has managed this center that includes bus information service, traffic information collection and providing service, parking information service, and traffic responsive control system. In the Cheon-an metropolitan traffic signal operation, traffic signal controllers were grouped by the each main traffic flow axes and performed with coordinated signal timing for the signalized arterials, and also cycle and split changed by realtime traffic demands. Cheon-an urban traffic responsive control system was evaluated by intersection delay and speed, then it was verified that the delay decreased and vehicle speed improved. However, the rural signal control system to connect adjacency town was evaluated to have lower status than urban area due to the unimproved TOD (Time of day) plan. Therefore actuated signal control was examined for substitutive control system in isolated signal intersection. The aim of this article is to compare actuated signal control with TOD mode in the rural intersection of Cheon-an and to fine superiority of these two control mode, with evaluation of vehicle delay by using HCM(2000) method and by micro-simulation CORSlM. The result of field test show that actuated signal control gave better performance in delay comparison than the existing TOD signal control. And simulation outcome verified that non-optimized TOD has higher delay than optimized TOD mode, non-optimal actuated mode, and optimal actuated signal control mode. Particularly, these three modes delays had not different values according to the paired sample t-test. This is because small traffic demands were loaded in each links. This suggested actuated signal control is expected to be more effective than TOD mode in some rural isolated intersections which frequently need to survey for traffic volume.
