  • Recently, many enterprises have attempted to capitalize knowledge assets on data warehouse (DW). It has been recognized as strategic core process to create corporate competitive advantage and implement enterprise e-biz strategies. However, most approaches to represent knowledge and decision process have limits in considering various knowledge types, their relationships and continuity in knowledge formulation. In addition, they are so inclined to one side such as concept-oriented frameworks or technology-oriented ones. They lack universal and wide-ranging features. This paper presents a comprehensive methodology to accumulate knowledge capital on DW via a properly grained hypermedia model. The methodology consists of three phases: knowledge requirement elicitation, hypermedia modeling, and system implementation. A real-life case for medical DW development is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed methodology. This methodology is effective when an organization accumulates knowledge assets to put the corporate e-biz or cre-biz strategy into practice.

  • Today's product development environment is characterized as abrupt changes in consumer needs and short lifecycle of the product, which requires manufacturing companies to be equipped with time-to-market and time-to-volume strategies as prime factors for the successful product launch on market. They especially need to bring a product to the market faster with smart methodologies that enable assembly manufacturers to efficiently simulate and manage part assembly information throughout product development process. The research in this paper provides n e-manufacturing methodology considering geometric constraints in order to decide assembly process sequences. The methodology organizies the part layout (position & orientation) in order to optimize human postures during the assembly processes. As the case studies, assembly parts for two commercial products have been generated as CAD models and analyzed for the desired solutions for part assembly sequences using the proposed methodology.

  • For optimal design of a deep-sea ocean mining collector system, based on self-propelled mining vehicle, it is imperative to develop and validate the dynamic model of a tracked vehicle traveling on soft deep seabed. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the fidelity of the dynamic simulation model by means of response surface methodology. Various statistical techniques related to response surface methodology, such as outlier analysis, detection of interaction effect, analysis of variance, inference of the significance of design variables, and global sensitivity analysis, are examined. To obtain a plausible response surface model, maximum entropy sampling is adopted. From statistical analysis and prediction for dynamic responses of the tracked vehicle, conclusions will be drawn about the accuracy of the dynamic model and the performance of the response surface model.

  • This paper presents a simple methodology for reducing the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers in the mixed sensitivity control problems. The key point of this methodology is to transform the generalized plant expression to new one, where the control object and the weighting functions for the sensitivity function may have some poles on the imaginary axis. So that, this methodology makes it possible to use the standard method to solve the general H$_{\infty}$ design problems about the mixed sensitivity problems, even for a servo system or a oscillatory system. We derive that the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers designed by this methodology may be reduced to n$_{p}$ where n$_{p}$ is the order of the denominator of the control object. It is clear that n$_{p}$ is lower than n$_{p}$ + n$_{s}$, which is the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers obtained by the ordinary H$_{\infty}$ design method up to now, where n$_{s}$ is the order of the denominator of the weighting function for sensitivity. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the results..lts.ts..lts.lts.

  • In this study, we introduce a noble neurogenetic approach to the design of fuzzy controller. The design procedure dwells on the use of Computational Intelligence (CI), namely genetic algorithms and Fuzzy-Set based Neural Networks (FSNN). The crux of the design methodology is based on the selection and determination of optimal values of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controllers, which are essential to the entire optimization process. First, the tuning of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controller is carried out by using GAs, and then the development of a nonlinear mapping for the scaling factors is realized by using GA based FSNN. The developed approach is applied to a nonlinear system such as an inverted pendulum where we show the results of comprehensive numerical studies and carry out a detailed comparative analysis.

  • Recently AEC industry has required construction automation according to becoming large and complex. Thus BIM-based construction project is increased and used in whole fields of AEC industry. Quantity take-off and estimation fields are important factor for decision-making in conceptual and schematic design stages of construction projects. The purpose of this study improves reliability of the estimation through QTO based on Open BIM. Scope and method to apply QTO is to select conceptual design stage through LoD(Level of Detail) in AEC field and to extract information from BIM model through analysis of IFC structure. This study proceeds three step to make BIM model and check the model quality and calculate QTO. The methodology of QTO using IFC is to verify of result in this study and expects utilizing in design stage of construction projects. The result from this study is expected to decrease the risk factor and time of estimation in the project early phase through improving reliability of schematic estimation.

  • This study investigates the direct displacement based design (DDBD) approach for different types of reinforced concrete structural systems including single moment-resisting, dual wall-frame and dual steel-braced systems. In this methodology, the displacement profile is calculated and the equivalent single degree of freedom system is then modeled considering the damping characteristics of each member. Having calculated the effective period and secant stiffness of the structure, the base shear is obtained, based on which the design process can be carried out. For each system three frames are designed using DDBD approach. The frames are then analyzed using nonlinear time-history analysis with 7 earthquake accelerograms and the damage index is investigated through lateral drift profile of the models. Results of the analyses and comparison of the nonlinear time-history analysis results indicate efficiency of the DDBD approach for different reinforced concrete structural systems.

  • The fuel injector is a pa.1 that controls the fuel supply of automotive engine. The housing of the fuel injector supports the rod, the needle valve and the solenoid. In this study, the rigid-plastic FE-analysis by using the design of experiments (DOE) and the response surface methodology (RSM) has been performed to produce the product reducing the under-fill and the maximum effective strain. From the results of DOE, the stem of counter punch and the face angle of punch at the $1^{st}$ process, and the stem of punch at the $2^{nd}$ process were determined as the significant design variables far each response such as the upper under-fill, lower under-fill and the maximum effective strain. From the results of RSM, the optimal values of the design variables have been also determined by simultaneously considering the responses.

  • Shipbuilding process takes a long time for producing final products, and needs many different resources. Because of these characteristics, it has been studied about shipyard simulation and virtual manufacturing that is able to implement the virtual manufacturing process. However, among the previous researches, it requires considerable time and effort to construct simulation model since the systematic methodology has not been used for simulation modeling. Also, reusability of constructed simulation model was low. Therefore, this research defines the method to construct shipyard simulation system using the process-centric simulation modeling methodology and shipyard simulation framework. This paper also validates the utility of this methodology through applying to construct simulation model for the shipyard master plan validation.
