  • In this paper, to identify the dynamic characteristics of antenna system, the antenna is divided into 4 components and those were analyzed with a conventional FEM package MSC/NASTRAN. Using a Component Mode Synthesis Method, dynamic characteristics of total system is also identified. The Coherence of each component to total system is evaluated by using strain and kinetic component to total system is evaluated by using strain and kinetic energy. The improving strategy of dynamic characteristics is suggested by changing mass and stiffness of large coherence components.

  • The wind responses of twin buildings are determined by the characteristics of wind loads and the dynamic characteristics of the structural systems of the buildings. In this study, the characteristics of wind pressure that influence wind responses were identified for two different spacings between the twin buildings using a wind tunnel test and the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method. Structural dynamic characteristics were also identified using 3D structural system modeling. The double modal transformation method was utilized to evaluate the characteristics of wind pressure for across-wind and along-wind conditions and the effect of the dynamic characteristics of each structure on the wind responses. The channeling and vortex effects were identified through the POD method. Across-wind loads were significantly affected by the spacings between the twin buildings, whereas along-wind loads were minimally affected. Similarly, while using the double modal transformation method, a significant difference was noticed in case of the cross-participation coefficients in the across-wind direction condition for the different spacings between the buildings; however, the along-wind direction condition showed negligible difference. Therefore, the spacing between the two buildings plays a more important role in across-wind responses compared to along-wind responses.

  • This paper investigates the convergence characteristics of the modified artificial compressibility method proposed by Turkel. In particular, a focus is mode on the convergence characteristics due to variation of the preconditioning factor (${\alpha}_u$) and the artificial compressibility (${\beta}$) in conjunction with an upwind method. For the investigations, a code using the modified artificial compressibility is developed. The code solves the axisymmetric incompressible Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The cell-centered finite volume method is used in conjunction with Roe's approximate Riemann solver for the inviscid flux, and the central difference discretization is used for the viscous flux. Time marching is accomplished by the approximated factorization-alternate direction implicit method. In addition, Menter's k-${\omega}$ shear stress transport turbulence model is adopted for analysis of turbulent flows. Inviscid, laminar, and turbulent flows are solved to investigate the accuracy of solutions and convergence behavior in the modified artificial compressibility method. The possible reason for loss of robustness of the modified artificial compressibility method with ${\alpha}_u$ >1.0 is given.

  • In this paper, the resonance characteristics and radiation characteristics of a spherical patch on a dielectric sphere are analyzed. Resonance characteristics can be obtained from the resonant frequency and the quality factor. Radiation characteristics can be also analyzed from the E-field in the far region. In order to calculate these parameters, spectral domain analysis method is applied. Algebraic equation can be obtained in spectral domain through Vector Legendre transform pair and Galerkin's method. So, efficient calculation is possible numerically. It is investigated that radius, curvature of a spherical patch, and dielectric constant of a dielectric sphere have an effect on characteristics of a spherical patch.

  • Impossible differential characteristics distinguish the corresponding block cipher from random substitution and can also be used for key recovery attack. Recently Cui et al. proposed an automatic method for searching impossible differential characteristics of several ARX - based block ciphers using Mixed Integer Linear Programming(MILP). By optimizing the method proposed by Cui et al., It was possible to find new impossible differential characteristics which could not be founded by the method by using less linear constraint expression than the existing method. It was applied to the SPECK family and LEA using the modified method. We found 7-rounds for SPECK32, SPECK48, SPECK64, SPECK96 and 8-rounds impossible differential characteristics of SPECK128. These impossible differential characteristics are all newly found. We also found existing 10-rounds of impossible differential characteristic and new 10-rounds of impossible differential characteristics of LEA.

  • This study proposes an information retrieval method reflecting the user's preferences based on the fuzzy set theory to develop information contents which support pedestrian's navigation. Firstly, the research evaluated subjects' preferences on commercial spaces set to a hypothetical destination. Also it surveyed the causal relationship between the visual characteristics and the emotional characteristics to propose methods of Navigation Knowledge Base (NKB). The NKB was composed of three elements; 1. the correlation model between emotional characteristics, 2. the causal relationship between visual characteristics and emotional characteristics, 3. the transformation model between visual characteristics and the physical characteristics. Secondly, this study classified the pedestrian's destination search into 4 types with his or her preferences and the time conditions limited during navigation. For each type it presented the Destination Search Algorithm (DSA). Finally, the research simulated the destination search in 4 navigation types using NKB and DSA and verified the availability of the information retrieval method reflecting pedestrian's preferences. In conclusion, the proposed information search method will be applied to reflect the user's preferences to develop information appliances.

  • Consumers require various quality characteristics including safety. The reduction of risk concerned on product safety becomes an urgent issue in leading companies. The strategy for customer satisfaction by choosing attractive quality characteristic is not enough for risk reduction in view of producer. This paper presents a method for choosing quality characteristics and risk characteristics by integrating QFD based on quality requirements and AHP based on safety requirements, also shows its application for complex equipment.

  • In this study, the general characteristics, and theories of cochlear concerning with hearing are examined. Also the digital method is studied in order to analyze with microcomputer on the model equation of basiliar membrane in the cochlear derived from 3-dimensional rectangular block model which is studied by Boer. The method is illustrated for the amplitude characteristics of basiliar momtrane wave velocity. The results obtained are as follows; 1. In the magnitude characteristics, the velocity gradually increases from the stapes, shows the maximum magnitude, and then rapidly decreases to the Helicotrema. 2. The characteristics of 3-dimensional model is located between 1-and 2- dimensional models in the velocity characteristics coefficients, magnitude characteristics, and the pattern of 2-dimensional model shoves the different features from the 1-dimensional and 3-dimensional rectangular block model. 3. In the 3-dimensional rectangular block model, the characteristics of the waveform and the maximum resonant point are same whether Z(X) is linear or nonlinear.

  • So far, the Taguchi Method has dealt with multiple quality characteristics under the assumption that they are independent. Since the relationships between quality characteristics are practically important, this study proposes a new performance measure considering the correlation among characteristics. In this paper, we impose weight on each characteristic and correlation among characteristics. The loss function of multiple characteristics is defined in accordance with combination of simple characteristic types, and it is divided into terms of loss that characteristic itself and the correlation among characteristics cause. And the proposed method uses the expected loss of multiple characteristics as the new performance measure. The data in literature are used to compare with the existing performance measures.

  • Various types of damper are usually applied to reduce noise and vibration for mechanical systems. Especially, for washing machines, the free-friction stroke damper is installed. The behavior of the free-friction stroke damper has nonlinear characteristics such as hysteresis and viscoelastic properties because of its foam material. First of all, the dynamic experiments were carried out by using a MTS machine to find characteristics of the free-friction stroke damper. And the simulation model of the free-friction stroke damper and characteristics of a foam material were evaluated by using optimization technique. To make a good simulation model which can show the dynamic characteristics, it is important to understand the working mechanism of the damper. The Finite Element Method (FEM) technique can help us instinctively understand the damping phenomenon under operating conditions, because we can observe the condition of damper at every step in the simulation by using it. Also, by changing factors, we can comprehend the variation of characteristics of damper. So, in this paper, a study on the dynamic characteristics of free-friction stroke damper by FEM is focused on. Finally, the possibility which physical experiments can be replaced into simulations is shown.
