Metadata standardization of resources, having a heterogeneous metadata structure for each presidential archive and presidential library and museum is preferentially required for utilizing and sharing presidential records. An integrated operation model of metadata to manage various types of presidential records is then needed. The purpose of this study is to create a design principle of integrated metadata, and to suggest relationships and attributes of metadata, needed for developing integrated metadata operation system on presidential records. The design principle includes "creation of relationship among presidential records", "design of each entity, applicable multiple entity data model", "design to describe various types of presidential records", "design to reflect lifelong management on records of holding institutes", and "designing hybrid metadata for long term preservation". Metadata element set consists of elements for common attributes with all types of presidential records for a unique attribute for a specific presidential record and for reference information among different records related to the production of presidential records.

It's important to develop Metadata standard to manage a large of marine geospatial data such as observation, ocean survey, satellite image more effectively. If we use metadata in Marine GIS we can make sense marine geospatial data, make the most of marine dataset. International standard organization's work and NGIS's standard are a good example to illustrate metadata standard's importance. This study is to develope the structures and the elements of the metadata for harvesting, management and preservation of a valuable web resources in the web archiving. For this study, we investigated the available metadata in the web archiving and surveyed the requirements of web archiving process. And we analyzed the characteristics of web resources. Also, this study was used a based on the ISO 14721 OAIS Reference Model. Finally, to share the metadata elements among the web archiving system, this study considered the interoperability for the exchange of the metadata. Based on the result, this study designed four structures of the metadata and defined the 28 core metadata elements for the web archiving.

The purpose of this study is to develop descriptive metadata elements of contents of oral history records. First, the meaning of contents in transcripts and detailed interview lists, as well as the characteristics of metadata for oral history records, were examined. Second, elements related contents of domestic and international oral history metadata were compared to identify 18 elements, then streamlined 12 elements were set by removing duplicates. Third, 12 elements were compared with detailed interview lists based on transcripts of 6 interviewees who had interviews on knit business in Haebangchon. The result of this study discovered 1 additional element that designated as 'basic' and these were further categorized into 15 element of 'enhanced'. These elements are expected to contribute to expanding the scope of utilization of oral history records by supporting the structure and expression of that contents.

Various metadata registries have been built in many countries of the world. Although the metadata registry is an international standard, it does not provide a consistent access interface for handling the metadata registries. Therefore, all systems for managing them were developed by using different operations and access interfaces. It requires duplicate efforts on the same operations whenever metadata registry systems are developed. As a result, it causes unnecessary costs and efforts for building metadata registries, and also incurs inconsistency between the metadata registries because the previous developed systems use the different interfaces for the metadata registry elements This paper analyzes and defines operation patterns that are commonly used for the metadata registries. We defined and designed SQL/MDR extended from SQL using the analyzed operation patterns. SQL/MDR provides a standardized access interface for developing metadata registry systems. This paper shows the implementation of SQL/MDR and the result that we actually applied it to the bibliographical databases. By developing the metadata registry systems using SQL/MDR, we can reduce much time and efforts owing to its standard interface. It allows metadata registries to be accessed consistently. Additionally, it makes all metadata registries follow the international standard, ISO/IEC ll179.

The purpose of this study is to design textbook metadata as a basic task for building a textbook database. To this end, reading textbooks were defined as a category of textbooks, and a metadata development methodology was established through previous research. In order to ensure that bibliographically essential elements are not omitted, the catalog description elements of institutions that collect, accumulate, and service textbooks such as the National Library of Korea were investigated. The elements of Dublin Core, MODS, and KEM were mapped to derive elements suitable for describing textbooks. Finally, a set of textbook metadata elements consisting of 14 elements in three categories - bibliography, context, and textbook characteristics were presented by adding publication type, genre, and curriculum period elements. The 14 elements are titles, authors, publications, formats, identification sign, languages, locations, subject names, annotation, genres, table of contents, subjects, curriculum period, and curriculum information. In this study, we contributed to this field by discussing how to organize textbook resources with national knowledge resources, and in future studies, we proposed to evaluate usability by applying metadata elements to actual textbooks and revise and supplement them according to the evaluation results.

The advances in communication technology and the popularity of network have rendered the increment of demand and desire to digital contents, and a number of creative digital contents produced. According to the time of compilation and a production of raw data, and manners, the format of digital contents may be variable and there can be existed in many connection information about digital contents. Although there are many metadata for standardizing the digital contents, they do not consider for expressing the connection relation about digital contents. In this paper, we proposed the new metadata for expressing the connection information about digital contents. This metadata is compatible the metadata of dublin core out of international standard of digital contents. Our metadata can express the variable direct or indirect connection relation about digital contents by expanding the relation element of dublin core. Also, our system can provide more useful information since we develop a system for managing connection information of digital contents based on our metadata.

It is important to manage large amount of information from various information providers for supporting recent information services such as providing global research trends, detecting emerging signal and listing leading researchers. For integrated management, definition of integrated metadata schema, data transformation and schema matching are needed. It is first necessary to analyze existing various metadata for defining integrated metadata schema. In this paper, we have analyzed several metadata of scientific journal papers by classifying semantics, content rules and syntax, and looked around considerations to make integrated schema or transform metadata. We have known that XML is used as a syntax for supporting convenience and various usage condition, and hierarchy element names and common elements in semantics are needed. We also have looked at elements having various content rules and related standards. We hope that this study will be used as basic research material of metadata integrated management, data transform and schema matching for interoperability.

The purpose of this study was to designed the structure and elements of metadata that can manage and share research data produced in the food composition database. In order to derive metadata elements, mapping crosswalk was performed on 5 metadata such as DCAT, DataCite metadata schema 4.4, TTAK.KO-10.0976, AgMES, and FoodData Central. As a result of the study, the top 15 elements of the 'Resource information' metadata were derived, and 7 mendatory, 3 recommended and 5 optional elements, and the 'Composition analysis' metadata included 8 mendatory, 3 recommended and 1 optional element were derived to describe food composition research data, respectively. The derived metadata elements will be used as an item for systematic management of food composition data and can be used as basic data for sharing with domestic and international food composition databases.

The Information of Technology Trend is one of the critical factors for research activities. In addition, this information tremendously affects the decision-making process of Science and Technology Policy. However, metadata of this information has not gain much attention so far. This research suggests metadata element and encoding scheme that is based on NewsML and using metadata of domestic Information of Technology Trend service system. The result of this research provides the basic resources for developing standard metadata of Information of Technology Trend which is suitable for domestic information technology situation.
