  • In recent years, the number of scams related to voice phishing has been on the decline, but the number of messenger phishing attacks, a new type of crime, is increasing. In this study, by analyzing SNS posts containing messenger phishing cases, criminal trends of the main methods, imposture of trusted relative and fake payment were identified. Through the analysis, main words and patterns composing the message and the similarity and continuity of the phone numbers used were derived as criminal attributes, and criminal organizations were grouped. As the results of the analysis, we propose a cooperative system to prevent damage from messenger phishing by disseminating the criminal information collected by investigative agencies to private operators, and a plan to respond to messenger phishing predicted through grouping of criminal organizations.

  • Messenger phishing, communications frauds crime, exploits remote control of smartphones and non-face-to-face financial transactions, causing property damage due to money transfers, as well as account opening and loans in the name of victims. Such financial accidents may be careless of victims, but the current messenger phishing criminal method is intelligent and can be seen as digging into loopholes in the non-face-to-face user verification process. In this paper we analyze how messenger phishing uses loopholes in user identification procedures in non-face-to-face financial transactions. Through experiments, it is suggested to improve the non-face-to-face verification process for safer financial transactions.

  • Phishing is an attack to theft an user's identity by masquerading the user or the device. The number of phishing victims are sharply increased due to wide spread use of smart phones and messenger programs. Smart phones can operate various wi-fi based apps besides typical voice call and SMS functions. Generally, the messenger program such as Kakao Talk or Nate On is consisted of client and server functions. Thus, the authentication between the client and the server is essential to communicate securely. In this paper, we propose the messenger authentication protocol safe against smart phone phishing. To protect communications among clients, the proposed method provides message encryption and authentication functions.

  • With the rapid development of IT technologies, many people talk to each other in real time on-line using messenger or use the messenger to share files for work. However, using this convenience, phishing crimes occur: e.g. demanding money, and if a criminal uses a bypassing technique like proxy in order to hide the IP address the criminal has used to log on, it is in fact, difficult to find the criminal's real IP address. This paper will propose a plan to measure against messenger phishing that may occur in advance by collecting the IP address with which a user has used in a dual channel mode and the real IP address obtained by ARIT Agent using ARIT technique, going through a separate identification process and deciding whether the user has accessed in a normal method.

  • While overall crime has been on the decline since 2009, voice phishing has rather been on the rise. The government and academia have presented various measures and conducted research to eradicate it, but it is not enough to catch up with evolving voice phishing. In the study, researchers focused on catching criminals and preventing damage from voice phishing, which is difficult to recover from. In particular, a voice phishing prediction method using the Fraud Detection System (FDS), which is being used to detect financial fraud, was studied based on the fact that the victim engaged in financial transaction activities (such as account transfers). As a result, it was conceptually derived to combine big data such as call details, messenger details, abnormal accounts, voice phishing type and 112 report related to voice phishing in machine learning-based Fraud Detection System(FDS). In this study, the research focused mainly on government measures and literature research on the use of big data. However, limitations in data collection and security concerns in FDS have not provided a specific model. However, it is meaningful that the concept of voice phishing responses that converge FDS with the types of data needed for machine learning was presented for the first time in the absence of prior research. Based on this research, it is hoped that 'Voice Phishing Damage Prediction System' will be developed to prevent damage from voice phishing.

  • The recent increase in smartphone usage has ignited the development of new applications which have changed the way of living in this internet era in the world. Almost all users which have smartphone have used many kinds of applications for lots of part. Especially, Social Network Service is the most popular part for smartphone users. The greater part of smartphone users take messenger service for smartphone. This kinds of applications provide to manage as deactivation of user or change of device. When users take to manage their information, their information would be deleted securely. If secure deletion didn't work correctly and released, their personal information can be easily abused to by others through various means such as internet phishing. In this paper, we analysis that the messenger application's management function keeps on the Personal Information Protection Act and suggest to prevent legally and technically for user's personal information and privacy.
