정신치료와 신경생물학적 연구결과의 관계 (The Relationship between Psychotherapy and Neurobiological Findings)

  • The mechanism of psychotherapy is explained by the recent developments in neuroscience and neuroimaging. The purpose of this study is to understand the nature of psychotherapy and to discuss the future of psychotherapy improvement with the help of advances of the neurobiological findings in psychotherapy. For this study, we investigated a wide range of materials. We searched for various researches on psychotherapy, brain, and neurobiology. In addition to the conventional psychodynamic psychotherapy, we investigated research findings on cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Moreover, based on the actual experiences of treating patients, we speculated the neurobiological mechanisms of the process and results of psychotherapy. With the development of neuroscience, we are now able to understand the personal consciousness, unconsciousness and developmental process. Also subdividing the disease is made possible. Personalized treatment has become available, and we are able to predict the prognosis of patients. Our memories are composed by implicit memory and explicit memory. By psychotherapy, we can consciously remember explicit memory, and it becomes easier to explore implicit memory through free association. Through psychotherapy, we will also be able to learn the effect of acquired environment and experience. Psychotherapy is able to correct human behaviors by modifying the memories. Through the regulation of emotions, it becomes possible to modify the memories and correct the behaviors. In this process, doctor-patient relationship is the main factor which cause positive treatment effects. Furthermore imagination therapy or unconscious, non-verbal stimuli could bring about positive treatment effects. Now psychotherapy could be explained and studied by neuroscientific researches. In this sense, we could provide the direction of future advances in neuroscience by the neurobiological understanding of psychotherapy.

The Effects of Donepezil, an Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitor, on Impaired Learning and Memory in Rodents

  • A previous study in humans demonstrated the sustained inhibitory effects of donepezil on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity; however, the effective concentration of donepezil in humans and animals is unclear. This study aimed to characterize the effective concentration of donepezil on AChE inhibition and impaired learning and memory in rodents. A pharmacokinetic study of donepezil showed a mean peak plasma concentration of donepezil after oral treatment (3 and 10 mg/kg) of approximately $1.2{\pm}0.4h$ and $1.4{\pm}0.5h$, respectively; absolute bioavailability was calculated as 3.6%. Further, AChE activity was inhibited by increasing plasma concentrations of donepezil, and a maximum inhibition of $31.5{\pm}5.7%$ was observed after donepezil treatment in hairless rats. Plasma AChE activity was negatively correlated with plasma donepezil concentration. The pharmacological effects of donepezil are dependent upon its concentration and AChE activity; therefore, we assessed the effects of donepezil on learning and memory using a Y-maze in mice. Donepezil treatment (3 mg/kg) significantly prevented the progression of scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice. As the concentration of donepezil in the brain increased, the recovery of spontaneous alternations also improved; maximal improvement was observed at $46.5{\pm}3.5ng/g$ in the brain. In conclusion, our findings suggest that the AChE inhibitory activity and pharmacological effects of donepezil can be predicted by the concentration of donepezil. Further, $46.5{\pm}3.5ng/g$ donepezil is an efficacious target concentration in the brain for treating learning and memory impairment in rodents.

멤리스터의 모델링과 연상메모리(M_CAM) 회로 설계 (Modeling for Memristor and Design of Content Addressable Memory Using Memristor)

  • 멤리스터(Memristor)는 메모리 레지스터의 합성어로 흐른 전하량에 따라 저항이 스스로 변하고 전원이 끊긴 상태에서도 저항 상태가 기억되는 특수한 메모리 소자이다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 메모리소자로 주목받고 있는 멤리스터를 모델링하고 SPICE 시뮬레이션을 위한 behavior모델을 제시한다. 그리고 제안된 모델을 바탕으로 멤리스터 기반의 M_CAM(Memristor MOS content addressable memory)을 설계하였다. 제안된 M_CAM은 기존의 CAM에 비해서 단위 셀 면적과 평균 전력소모가 각각 40%, 96% 감소하였다. 칩은 0.13${\mu}m$ CMOS 공정에서 공급전압이 1.2V를 갖도록 설계되었다.

  • 전력증폭기는 기지국의 효율을 결정하는 중요한 요소이며, 효율성 제고를 위하여 GaN증폭소자를 사용한 Doherty 전력증폭기 구조에 대한 연구가 지속되고 있다. Doherty 전력증폭기의 메모리 효과는 선형성과 효율특성과 연관된 동작특성에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 GaN Doherty 전력증폭기의 전열적인 비선형성 모델링과 전열적 메모리 효과가 GaN Doherty 증폭기의 왜곡형성과 보상에 대하여 연구하였다. GaN Doherty 증폭기의 전열적 메모리 특성을 모델링하기 위하여 순시적으로 소모되는 전력과 순시 접합온도의 정확한 관계식을 정립하였다. 제안된 모델의 파라미터로부터 GaN Doherty 전력증폭기의 비선형왜곡과 전열적 메모리 효과를 보상할 수 있는 전치왜곡선형화기 모델을 설계하였다. 제안된 모델의 성능평가는 37dBm GaN Doherty 전력증폭기와 ADS Tool을 사용하여 왜곡특성 성능개선정도를 검증하였다. 선형화된 GaN 전력증폭기의 2-tone 출력스펙트럼에서 약 16 dB의 왜곡개선효과를 보였다.

Krill-Derived Phosphatidylserine Improves TMT-Induced Memory Impairment in the Rat

  • The present study examined the effects of krill-derived phosphatidylserine (Krill-PS) on the learning and memory function and the neural activity in rats with trimethyltin (TMT)-induced memory deficits. The rats were administered vehicle (medium-chain triglyceride: MCT) or Krill-PS (50, 100 mg/kg, p.o.) daily for 21 days. The cognitive improving efficacy of Krill-PS in TMT-induced amnesic rats was investigated by assessing the Morris water maze test and by performing choline acetyltransferase (ChAT), acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and cAMP responsive element binding protein (CREB) immunohistochemistry. The rats with TMT injection showed impaired learning and memory of the tasks and treatment with Krill-PS produced a significant improvement of the escape latency to find the platform in the Morris water maze at the $2^{nd}$ and $4^{th}$ day compared to that of the MCT group (p<0.05). In the retention test, the Krill-PS+MCT groups showed increased time spent around the platform compared to that of the MCT group. Consistent with the behavioral data, Krill-PS 50+MCT group significantly alleviated the loss of acetylcholinergic neurons in the hippocampus and medial septum compared to that of the MCT group. Treatment with Krill-PS significantly increased the CREB positive neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area as compared to that of the MCT group. These results suggest that Krill-PS may be useful for improving the cognitive function via regulation of cholinergic marker enzyme activity and neural activity.

Eye Movement Program Consisting of Saccadic Eye Movement and Pursuit Eye Movement Improved Visual Memory in Institutionalized Elderly Person: Randomized controlled pilot study

  • Background: Aging reduces cognitive abilities, including visual memory (VM) and visual discrimination (VD). Since common cortical networks subserve eye movement and attention, voluntary eye movement may improve visual attention. Visual selective attention was major role for memory, and visual memory and visual attention are intimately related. Objective: To identify the improvement in VD and VM, after implementing the eye movement program consisting of saccadic eye movement (SEM) and pursuit eye movement (PEM) in the institutionalized healthy elderly. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: The study involved a sample of 36 participants, and the mean age was 79.03 years (range 76~84 years). They were randomly allocated to the experimental group (n=16) and control group (n=20). Participants in the experimental group performed SEM 5 times per week for 4 weeks: twice daily at the same time in the morning and afternoon. The program was carried out for 3 minutes, and it consisted of SEM and PEM. The target's moving frequency was set at 0.5 Hz. VM and VD at the baseline and post-intervention were measured using Motor-Free Visual Perception test-4 (MFVPT-4). Results: VM significantly improved in the experimental group (p < .01), and significant differences were observed compared to the control group (p < .01). There was no significant change in VD. Conclusion: The eye movement program consisting of SEM and PEM increased VM more than VD. Therefore, eye movement program was feasible interventions for improving VM in institutionalized elderly persons.

의식적 손가락 움직임이 인지기능 변화에 미치는 융합연구 (Convergence study on the change of cognitive function through the intentional finger movement)

  • 본 연구는 정상 성인을 무작위로 급속안구움직임(saccadic eye movement, SEM)군과 의식적손가락움직임(intentional finger movement, IFM) 군으로 구분하여 2주 동안 중재를 실시한 후 숫자외우기 검사와 n-back 검사를 사용하여 인지기능의 변화를 알아보았다. 그 결과 IFM군의 단기기억은 시간이 지날수록 유의하게 상승하였으며, 추적 검사에서는 군간 차이를 나타내었다. IFM군의 n-back은 수행시간, 오류횟수, 정확률에서 시간이 지날수록 유의한 효과를 나타내었다. SEM군의 n-back은 수행시간과 정확률에서 시간이 지날수록 유의한 효과를 나타내었다. 결론적으로 인지기능 향상에는 단일 자극인 SEM보다 대뇌겉질을 광범위하게 활성화 시킬 수 있는 다중 자극인 IFM 방법이 인지기능 향상의 중재 방법으로 더 유용할 것으로 생각된다.

이종 모바일 멀티태스킹 환경을 위한 실시간 작업 인지형 메모리 할당 기술 연구 (Real-time Task Aware Memory Allocation Techniques for Heterogeneous Mobile Multitasking Environments)

  • 최근 스마트폰의 성능이 급격히 향상되고 모바일 플랫폼에서 백그라운드 앱의 실행이 늘면서 모바일 환경의 멀티태스킹이 활성화되고 있다. 모바일 환경에서는 종래의 데스크탑 및 서버 응용들과 달리 응답시간이 중요한 대화형 작업들이 대부분을 차지하고 있으며, 일부 응용은 데드라인이 존재하는 실시간 작업에 해당된다. 본 논문에서는 스마트폰에서 실시간 작업과 대화형 작업이 동시에 실행될 때 메모리 관리를 어떻게 함으로써 이질적인 멀티태스킹 환경의 요구사항을 충족할 수 있는지에 대해 연구한다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 작업의 요구 조건 만족을 위해 필요한 메모리 크기를 분석 및 모델링하고 이에 기반해서 멀티태스킹 작업 간의 메모리를 할당하는 방안을 제안한다. 이종 앱의 스토리지 접근 트레이스를 추출하고 이에 기반한 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 기법이 실시간 작업의 요구를 일정 수준으로 보장하면서 대화형 작업에 합리적인 성능을 제공함을 확인하였다.

3D NAND Flash Memory에 Ferroelectric Material을 사용한 Current Path 개선 (Improvement of Current Path by Using Ferroelectric Material in 3D NAND Flash Memory)

  • 본 논문에서는 3D NAND Flash memory의 O/N/O(Oxide/Nitride/Oxide) 구조와 blocking oxide를 ferroelectric material로 대체한 O/N/F(Oxide/Nitride/Ferroelectric) 구조의 current path를 분석했다. O/N/O 구조는 Vread가 인가되면 neighboring cell의 E-field로 인해 current path가 channel 후면에 형성된다. 반면 O/N/F 구조는 ferroelectric material의 polarization으로 인해 electron이 channel 전면으로 이동하여 current path가 전면에 형성된다. 또한 channel thickness와 channel length에 따른 소자 특성을 분석했다. 분석 결과 O/N/F 구조의 전면 electron current density 증가는 O/N/O 구조보다 2.8배 더 높았고 O/N/F 구조의 전면 electron current density 비율이 17.7% 높았다. 따라서 O/N/O 구조보다 O/N/F 구조에서 전면 current path가 더 효과적으로 형성된다.

향부자팔물탕(香附子八物湯)이 Alzheimer's disease 모델 백서(白鼠)의 학습과 기억에 미치는 영향(影響) (The effects of Hyangbujapalmultang on Learning and Memory of AD Rats using Morris water maze paradigm)

  • The effects of Hyangbujapalmultang on the enhancement of learning and memory of AD model rats were studied with Morris water maze. Sample group was electrolytically lesioned on nucleus basalis of Meynert(nbM), and then daily treated with the medicine for two months. Control group with nbM lesion, and sham group with the sham operation were treated the vehicle for the same duration. The following results were observed. 1. As the learning trials of Morris water maze were proceeded, sham group showed the escape latency from $54.7{\pm}2.28$ seconds in 1st trial to $13.3{\pm}3.27$ seconds in 7th. The control group showed the escape latency from $58.0{\pm}1.78$ seconds in 1st trial to $51.3{\pm}3.52$ seconds in 7th. The sample group showed the escape latency from $57.0{\pm}2.21$ seconds in 1st trial to $28.4{\pm}4.82$ seconds in 7th. Therefore, these data shows that all three groups were improved in learning capacity as trials were proceeded, but the sample group showed more prominent improvement in learning compared with the control group(p<0.05). 2. In memory retention test of Morris water maze that counts the staying time in the target area during 30 seconds of freely swimming period, sham group stayed for $4.81{\pm}1.15$ seconds, the control group stayed for $1.27\pm}0.78$ seconds, and the sample group stayed for $4.17{\pm}1.47$ seconds. The analysis of the memory retention data shows that the sample group marked more improvement in memory retention compared with the control group, but could not obtained statistically significant result(p<0.05). With the experimental results above, Hyangbujapalmultang can be supposed to have the improving effects on the learning of AD model rats induced by electrolytic lesion of nbM.
