In this study, we have analyzed the effects of the membrane layer and the bragg reflector layers on the resonance characteristics through comparing the characteristics of the membrane type FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator) and the one type bragg reflector layers with those of the ideal FBAR with top and bottom electrode contacting air by using equivalent circuit technique. It is assumed that ZnO is used for piezoelectric film, $SiO_2$ are used for membrane layer and low acoustic impedance layer, W are used for the high acoustic reflector layer and Al is used for the electrode. Each layer is considered to have a acoustic propagation loss. ABCD parameters are picked out and input impedance is calculated by converting 1-port equivalent circuit to simplified equivalent circuit that ABCD parameters are picked out possible. From the variation of resonance frequency due to the change of thickness of electrode layers, reflector layers and membrane layer it is confirmed that membrane layer and the reflector layer just under the electrode have the greatest effect on the variation of resonance frequency. From the variation of resonance properties, K and electrical Q with the number of layers, K is not much affected by the number of layers but electrical Q increases with the number of layers when the number of layers is less than seven. The electrical Q is saturated when the number of layers is large than six. The electrical Q is dependent of mechanical Q of reflector layers and membrane layer. Both ladder filter and SCF (Stacked Crystal Filters) show higher insertion loss and out-of-band rejection with the increase of the number of resonators. The insertion loss decreases with the increase of the number of reflector layers but the bandwidth is not much affected by the number of reflector layers. Ladder Filter and SCF with membrane layer show the spurious response due to spurious resonance properties. Ladder filter shows better skirt-selectivity characteristics in bandwidth but SCF shows better characteristics in insertion loss.
HP0894 (SwissProt/TrEMBL ID O25554) is an 88-residue conserved hypothetical protein from Helicobacter pylori strain 26695 with a calculated pI of 8.5 and a molecular weight of 10.38 kDa. Proteins with sequence similarity to HP0894 exist in Vibrio choierae, Enterococcus faecalis, Campylobacter jejuni, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli O157, etc. Here we report the sequence-specific backbone resonance assignments of HP0894. About 97.5% (418/429) of the HN, N, CO, $C{\alpha}$, $C{\beta}$ resonances of the 88 residues of HP0894 were assigned. On the basis of these assignments, three helical regions and four strand regions were identified using the CSI program. This study is a prerequisite for calculating the solution structure of HP0894, and studying its interaction with its substrates, if any, and/or with other proteins.
Human sterol ${\Delta}8-{\Delta}7$ isomerase, commonly known as emopamil binding protein (EBP), is an essential protein in the cholesterol-synthetic pathway, and mutations of this protein are critically associated with human diseases such as Conradi-Hunermann-Happle or male EBP disorder with neurological defects syndrome. Due to such a clinical importance, EBP has been intensively investigated and some important features have been reported. EBP is a tetra-spanning membrane protein, of which $2^{nd}$, $3^{rd}$, and $4^{th}$ membrane-spanning ${\alpha}$ helices play an important role in its enzymatic function. However, detailed structural feature at atomic resolution has not yet been elucidated, due to characteristic difficulties in dealing with membrane protein. Here, we over-expressed EBP using Escherichia coli and performed detergent screening to find suitable membrane mimetics for structural studies of the protein by NMR. As results, DPC and LMPG could be evaluated as the most favorable detergents to acquire promising NMR spectra for structural study of EBP.
[ $^{31}P$ ] powder pattern spectra were measured to investigate the aspects of the interaction between the MLV (Multilamellar vesicle) and PMAP-23, a membrane of cathelicidin family and then CSAs(chemical shift anisotropy) were calculated to indentify the extent of perturbation of phospholipid mobility by the peptides. We found that acidic phospholipid interacts strongly with PMAP-23, and the analogues which modified to increase the amphipathic property showed that larger change of CSA. The analogue which introduced positive charge showed the same effects with amphipathic property.
Caveolae are small plasma membrane invaginations that play many roles in signal transduction, endocytosis, mechanoprotection, lipid metabolism. The most important protein in caveolae is the integral membrane protein, caveolin, which is divided into three families such as caveolin 1, caveolin 2, and caveolin 3. Caveolin 1 and 3 are known to incorporate palmitate through linkage to three cysteine residues. Regulation of the protein palmitoylation cycle is important for the cellular processes such as intracellular localization of the target protein, membrane association, conformation, protein-protein interaction, and activity. However, the detailed aspect of individual palmitoylation has not been studied. In the present work, the role of each lipid modification at three cysteines was studied by NMR. Our results suggest that each lipid modification at the natively palmitoylation site has its own roles. For example, lipidations to C106 and C129 are play a role in structural stabilization, however, interestingly, lipid modification to C116 interrupts the structural stabilization.

This study was conducted to develope a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (cMUT) which enable to high efficient non-contact transmit and receive the ultrasonic wave in air. Theoretical analysis and finite element analysis of the behavior of membrane (such as resonance frequency, membrane deflection, collapse deflection and collapse voltage) of the cMUT were performed. The design parameters of the cMUT such as the dimension and thickness of membrane, thickness of sacrificial layer, thickness and size of electrode were estimated. The resonance frequency of the membrane increased as the thickness of the membrane increased but decreased as the diameter of the membrane increased. The deflection of the membrane increased as d-c bias voltage increased. The collapse voltage of the membrane was analyzed.

Objective : Preoperative prediction of the arachnoid membrane descent in pituitary surgery is useful for achieving gross total removal and avoiding cerebrospinal fluid leakage resulting from tearing of the arachnoid membrane in the chiasmatic cistern. In this study, we analyzed the patterns of arachnoid membrane descent during or after pituitary tumor surgery and identified the factors related to this descent. Methods : Analysis was restricted to pituitary macroadenomas not extending into the third ventricle or over the internal carotid artery. To minimize confounding factors, patients who underwent revision surgery, those who had a torn arachnoid during operation or small medial diaphragma sellae (DS) opening, and subtotal resections were excluded. We enrolled 41 consecutive patients in this retrospective analysis. The degree of arachnoid descent was categorized using intraoperative videos. Preoperative magnetic resonance findings, including tumor height, suprasellar extension, and variables including DS area and medial opening size, tumor composition, and displacement of the pituitary stalk and gland were evaluated to determine their correlations with arachnoid membrane descent. Results : Arachnoid membrane descent was significantly correlated with DS area and medial opening size. Based on T2-weighted images (T2WI) magnetic resonance (MR) images, tumor composition was significantly associated with arachnoid membrane descent. Other factors were not significantly correlated with arachnoid membrane descent. Conclusion : T2WI of tumor composition and preoperative MR imaging of DS area and medial opening provided valuable information regarding arachnoid membrane descent. These parameters may serve as fundamental measures to facilitate complete resection of pituitary macroadenomas.
