Development of Media Processing Board for Multi-Party Voice and Video Telephony using Open Source Software (공개소프트웨어 기반 다자간 음성 및 영상통화용 미디어처리보드 개발)

  • Korean military uses 'Tactical information communication network' to exchange information between units. In this study, we developed a media processing board for multi-party voice and video telephony based on open source software. On the other hand, in order to apply open source software for weapon systems and parts that are mounted on weapon systems, appropriate review is required according to the weapon system software development and management manual of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). In this study, the analysis of the requirement items was performed and the appropriate countermeasures were proposed for the open software applied to the media processing board with respect to 'the guidelines for the application of weapon systems to open source software', an appendix to the DAPA's manual.

  • An automated system using a embedded board is required to generate the notation input of the offline Go game. This paper integrates shape and color information of the objects on the Go game board for light-insensitive processing and reduces the computation step. This paper combined the detection of obstacles using connected components with the computation of canny edge detection and HSV-based detection. As a result, the processing time is reduced in the embedded environment so that reliable notation can be automatically stored even in real-time play environment.

  • Big data processing processes various types of data such as files, images, and video to solve problems and provide insightful useful information. Currently, various platforms are used for big data processing, but many organizations and enterprises are using Hadoop for big data processing due to the simplicity, productivity, scalability, and fault tolerance of Hadoop. In addition, Hadoop can build clusters on various hardware platforms and handle big data by dividing into a name node (master) and a data node (slave). In this paper, we use a fully distributed mode used by actual institutions and companies as an operation mode. We have constructed a Hadoop cluster using a low-power and low-cost single board for smooth experiment. The performance analysis of Name node is compared through the same data processing using single board and laptop as name nodes. Analysis of influence by number of data nodes increases the number of data nodes by two times from the number of existing clusters. The effect of the above experiment was analyzed.

  • In this thesis, remote conveyor control and monitoring system is designed and Implemented for shoes production process based on Lego prototyping mechanism by using the I/O interface control board for the ISA Interface control board. A conveyor server for real time profess control is implemented based on RTLinux(Real-Time Linux) so that users deride priority of work. And device driver is implemented bated on the RTLinux. Through this system, real-time Client/server monitoring environments Is implemented and tested. And the JMF(Java Media Framework) based monitoring system was implemented and the total processing status war monitored.

  • The ISO(International Standard Organization) has standardized MPEG-2 audio. The MPEG-2 audio compression algorithm is based upon subband analysis and exploits the human auditory characteristics to achieve a low bit rate with minimum perceptual loss of audio signal quality. This thesis presents an enhanced MPEG-2 audio encoder using multiple TMS320C30 general purpose DSP's. The developed system is made up of five slave boards and one master board. Each slave board performs susband analysis psychoacoustic parameter calculation for one channel, and the master board manages bit allocation, quantization, and bit-stream formatting for all channels. Parallel processing and pipelining techniques are used in hardware structure and fast algorithms are applied in each subroutine to implement a real-time process. The implemented system supports multichannel up to 5.1 and various bitrates.

  • 컴퓨터 환경의 급속한 발전과 더불어 게임 산업도 발전하고 있다. 또한 보다 현실감 있는 컴퓨터 게임 환경과 인터페이스에 관한 연구도 많이 진행되고 있다. 이를 위한 환경으로는 증강현실과 가상현실이 있으며, 사용하는 인터페이스로는 사이버글러브, 데이터글러브, 전자펜, 마커 등과 같은 하드웨어 장비가 있다. 이러한 장비를 이용하면 현실감이 떨어지고 사용자에게 많은 경제적 부담감을 주며, 복잡한 기술이 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문은 추가적인 장비의 도움 없이 손만을 사용하여 실감형 오델로 게임을 할 수 있는 기술과 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 손을 찾기 위하여 스킨 칼라 모델을 사용하고, 원하는 위치에 돌을 놓기 위하여 손의 좌표와 마커 좌표간의 켈리브레이션을 수행하여 좌표변환을 하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 오델로 게임뿐만 아니라 다른 증강현실 보드게임에 적용될 때 사용자에게 보다 현실감 있는 환경을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Rapid and Brief Communication GPU implementation of neural networks

  • Graphics processing unit (GPU) is used for a faster artificial neural network. It is used to implement the matrix multiplication of a neural network to enhance the time performance of a text detection system. Preliminary results produced a 20-fold performance enhancement using an ATI RADEON 9700 PRO board. The parallelism of a GPU is fully utilized by accumulating a lot of input feature vectors and weight vectors, then converting the many inner-product operations into one matrix operation. Further research areas include benchmarking the performance with various hardware and GPU-aware learning algorithms. (c) 2004 Pattern Recognition Society. Published by Elsevier Ltd.   • The information delivery and transmission media(DID or PID) market is making remarkable growth as the high-speed networks are spreading and LCD/LED TVs are more and more popularized, and display devices are increasingly large and high-definition. In addition, the popularization of smart devices and the expansion of the information delivery and transmission media market make a demand for N-Screen in content service. Colleges and universities have installed and operated various types of DID to promote their schools and departments and deliver information about them, still remaining in the level of media content implementation. So, we implement and evaluate a next-generation electronic bulletin board for each department that allows for interactive N-Screen communication based on the integration of smart phone and internet. This board enhanced efficiency as supporting N-Screen, inserting and deleting the contents at real time and offering bidirectional communication.

  • With the recent development of IT technology, various digital media to which new information technology is applied are being developed. In classroom lessons, the learning environment centered on lectures has changed to a learning environment in which learners participate. In particular, Interactive WhiteBoard (IWB) are used as an effective digital medium for teacher-learners to collaborate for interaction. However, existing IWB are expensive to purchase and maintain, and provide various and complicated functions to operate the IWB, which imposes a heavy burden on users. In this paper, we develop a low-cost IWB that supports collaborative learning to facilitate interaction in the space where projectors are installed to improve the teaching-learning environment. In addition, it is implemented so that learning activities using the IWB are interlocked and stored in the learning management system.

  • This paper presents design and implementation of infrared thermal image processing system based on the digital media processor for disaster monitoring. The digital thermal image processing board is designed and implemented by using commercial chips such as DM642 processor and video encoder, video decoder. The implemented functions for disaster monitoring are to analyze temperature distribution of a monitoring infrared thermal image and to detect disaster situation such as fire. For the input of infrared thermal image processing system, an infrared camera of type of the $320\;{\times}\;240\;{\mu}$-bolometer is used. The required functions are confirmed with 10 frame/second of processing performance by testing of the prototype and Practicality of the system was verified.
