Proposal for Deep Learning based Character Recognition System by Virtual Data Generation (가상 데이터 생성을 통한 딥러닝 기반 문자인식 시스템 제안)

  • In this paper, we proposed a deep learning based character recognition system through virtual data generation. In order to secure the learning data that takes the largest weight in supervised learning, virtual data was created. Also, after creating virtual data, data generalization was performed to cope with various data by using augmentation parameter. Finally, the learning data composition generated data by assigning various values to augmentation parameter and font parameter. Test data for measuring the character recognition performance was constructed by cropping the text area from the actual image data. The test data was augmented considering the image distortion that may occur in real environment. Deep learning algorithm uses YOLO v3 which performs detection in real time. Inference result outputs the final detection result through post-processing.

  • In this paper, I study the development of character in the fantasy genre of trans-media contents. In this study, I studied the novel " Songs of Fire and Ice " from the existing fantasy genre, and found that the content was expanded to include characters and features that were important to compared with the other fantasy genre content. Late fantasy genre writers since The Lord of the Rings have inherited a sort of genre of standards, and have established the genre of high fantasy. The genre has a typical characteristic of heroic characters or group adventures, based on the stage 12 heroic epic by mythologist Joseph Campbell. So the body of this paper will explore the journey of the heroic character in " Songs of Fire and Ice" and will be compared to the mythic motif and to the heroic epic narrative, and then find out the exceptional features of " Songs of Fire and Ice " as a fantasy genre.

  • The 3D game graphic technology has become an important factor in the contents field with the game contents development. In particular, game character technology provides a realistic technique and visual pleasure, as well as an intermediate step in the immersion of the game in which the game might create an optical illusion that enables the player to enjoy heroic adventure in the game. The high expression level of characters in 3D games is a key factor in the development process, with details and carefulness of the character setting work [3]. In this paper, we propose a character representative technique applied to mobile games using mathematical model of radiosity energy, spectral radiance model, and ray tracing model method using 3D unity game engine with sensible AI algorithm for game implementation. As a practical application to the game contents, it was found that the projection of the surface in the rendering process and the game simulation might change according to the lighting condition of the game content environment, so that the high quality of game characters was simulated.

  • As the speed of social change consumers' buying patterns change, with an effective and competitive means of communication is an effort to find ads world. Characters have to maximize its own image, the character font used for the situation fits perfectly expressed in the formative Calligraphy differentiated pay plan as part of Calligraphy is considered. People feel in the hand by writing letters that can not be standardized as a strong symbol and symbolism, and the appeal and beauty, dynamic motion, mystery, and can be expressed. Design disciplines across all areas of Calligraphy extensive coverage, digital coolness of the hard preparation for the soft and warm lyricism analogue availability is required to meet contemporary needs. Media ads that emphasize the use of the Calligraphy emotional representation of the contents of the ads favorable to improve cognitive function, attention, recall of positive affect and, therefore, character-driven emotional expression as an art communications capabilities with one of the media is situated in the heart of the culture.

Proposal for License Plate Recognition Using Synthetic Data and Vehicle Type Recognition System (가상 데이터를 활용한 번호판 문자 인식 및 차종 인식 시스템 제안)

  • In this paper, a vehicle type recognition system using deep learning and a license plate recognition system are proposed. In the existing system, the number plate area extraction through image processing and the character recognition method using DNN were used. These systems have the problem of declining recognition rates as the environment changes. Therefore, the proposed system used the one-stage object detection method YOLO v3, focusing on real-time detection and decreasing accuracy due to environmental changes, enabling real-time vehicle type and license plate character recognition with one RGB camera. Training data consists of actual data for vehicle type recognition and license plate area detection, and synthetic data for license plate character recognition. The accuracy of each module was 96.39% for detection of car model, 99.94% for detection of license plates, and 79.06% for recognition of license plates. In addition, accuracy was measured using YOLO v3 tiny, a lightweight network of YOLO v3.

A Design of AI Middleware for Making Interactive Animation Characters (인터랙티브한 애니메이션 캐릭터 제작을 위한 인공지능 미들웨어 설계)

  • Most designers use professional 3D animation tools such as 3DS MAX to manually create animation. This manual method requires a great deal of time and efforts, and does not allow animation characters to interact with one another. In this paper, we design an AI middleware of form as 3DS MAX plug-in to solve these issues. We present an AI expression structure and internal processing method for this middleware, and the method for creating AI character's structure. It creates AI character's structure by drawing figures and lines for representing AI elements. For experiment, we have produced same animations with the traditional method and our method, and measured the task volume in both methods. This result verifies that the task volume is similar or higher than the traditional method in small-scale tasks, but up to 43% of the task volume is reduced in large-scale tasks. Using the method proposed in this paper, we see that characters in an animation interact each other, and task volume in large-scale tasks are reduced.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze figurations of genders in on-line game character in order to find out the ways of building gender identity of on-line game characters. This study selects characters in on-line game to analyze figurations of genders in game systems, images, discourses of game characters by using gender identity theory and examine the reproducing process of players. As the result, the gender identity of on-line game characters which was pre-given by game developers follows the same conventions and stereotypes in real world and also the players follow it in the same manner. On-line game has the potential of text involvement and modification of the game players, and it has immanent possibilities of becoming alternative space of endless improvement and evolvement.

A decoupling FEM for simulating near-field wave motion in two-phase media

  • A decoupling technique for simulating near-field wave motions in two-phase media is introduced in this paper. First, an equivalent but direct weighted residual method is presented in this paper to solve boundary value problems more explicitly. We applied the Green's theorem for integration by parts on the equivalent integral statement of the field governing equations and then introduced the Neumann conditions directly. Using this method and considering the precision requirement in wave motion simulation, a lumped-mass FEM for two-phase media with clear physical concepts and convenient implementation is derived. Then, considering the innate attenuation character of the wave in two-phase media, an attenuation parameter is introduced into Liao's Multi-Transmitting Formula (MTF) to simulate the attenuating outgoing wave in two-phase media. At last, two numerical experiments are presented and the numerical results are compared with the analytical ones demonstrating that the lumped-mass FEM and the generalized MTF introduced in this paper have good precision.

  • In modern days, the iconic symbolicity of animal characters functions as a sign by the social promise after being made with voluntary intentions. Representing a public organization or corporation, an animal character is put to active use as a symbol. Today illusionary animal characters serve as important icons, and product developers incessantly put out animal contents. This study set out to examine the applications of animal characters in modern times according to media development by integrating animal characters into animation, which was the beginning of animal characters, based on the theoretical background of "symbolicity" in the aesthetics history. It also analyzed the symbolicity of "Haechi," which is Seoul's animal character and one of the good examples of utilization of a promotional animal character by a corporation or public organization.

  • Character of emoticon is considered suitable for expressivity in the digital era mixing and using contents of conversation with images in the course of having a talk with the other party in the mobile space. For the foregoing, this study carried out multiple regression analysis having factors of character attribute such as awareness, friendliness, self-expressivity and image differentiation as independent variables, and purchase intention of purchasers as a dependent variable. Analysis results show that awareness and image differentiation had a positive influence on the purchase intention, whereas friendliness and self-expressivity exerted no significant influence on the purchase intention.
