  • In order to overcome these disadvantages, the halogen light source, which was previously used as a vehicle fog light, has increased power consumption and a short lifetime, and thus, an automobile light source is gradually being replaced with an LED. However, when the vehicle LED fog light is turned on, there is a disadvantage in reducing the life of the fog lamp due to the high heat generated from the LED. The heat generated by the LED inside the fog lamp is mainly emitted by the heatsink, but most of the remaining heat is released to the outside through convection. When cooling efficiency decreases due to convection, thermal energy generates heat to lenses, reflectors, and bezels, which are the main parts of lamps, or generates high temperatures in LED, thereby shortening the life of LED fog lights. In this study, we tried to improve the heat dissipation performance by convection in addition to the heat dissipation method by heat sink, and to determine the installation location of vents that can discharge the internal air or intake the external air of LED fog lamp for vehicle. Thermal fluid analysis was performed to ensure that the optimal data were reflected in the design. The average velocity of air increased in the order of Case3 and Case2 compared to Case1, which is the existing prototype, and the increase rate of Case3 was relatively higher than that of other cases. This is because the vents installed above and below the fog lamps induce the convective phenomena generated according to the temperature difference, and the heat is efficiently discharged with the increase of the air speed.

  • This paper deals with the dynamical analysis of a two-point mooring vessel under surge excitations. The characteristics of nonlinear behaviors are investigated completely including bifurcation and limit cycle according to particular input parameter changes. The strong nonlinearity of the mooring system is mainly caused by linear and cubic terms of restoring force. The numerical simulation is performed based on the fourth order Runge-Kutta algorithm. The bifurcation diagram and several instability phenomena are observed clearly by varying amplitudes as well as frequencies of surge excitations. Stable periodic solutions, called the periodic windows, can be obtained in succession between chaotic clouds of dots in case of frequency ${\omega}=0.4rad/s$. In addition, the chaotic region is unexpectedly increased when external forcing amplitude exceeds 1.0 with the angular frequency of ${\omega}=0.7rad/s$. Compared to the cases for ${\omega}=0.4$, 0.7rad/s, the region of chaotic behavior becomes more fragile than in the case of ${\omega}=1.0rad/s$. Finally, various types of steady states including sub-harmonic motion, limit cycle, and symmetry breaking phenomenon are observed in the two-point mooring system at each parameter value.

  • The miscibility, molecular interaction and tensile properties of the blends of poly (${\varepsilon}$-caprolactone) (PCL) with poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) have been studied. The measured glass transition temperature values of PCL/PVC blends were found to be well fitted by Fox equation. We found that PCL/PVC blends are amorphous up to 23% PCL content. The blends showed the highest Young's modulus and yield strength at 5% PCL content and the highest tensile strength at 11% PCL content. The blends with low contents of PCL(up to 13%) show increased tensile strength and decreased elongation of PCL/PVC blends. Consequently, the antiplasticization phenomenon is observed in the PCL/PVC blends.

  • High frequency squeal noise can be generated when a railroad vehicle runs a sharp curved section; this noise causes environmental complaints and excessive wear on the wheel and the railroad track. In this paper, curved squeal noise experiments on a commercial railway were carried out to investigate this phenomenon. The relationship of the squeal noise pressure level, the frequency characteristics, the railway running speed, and the modal behavior of the wheel were investigated. At the same time, the lateral motion of the wheel relative to the rail was captured using a video camera; wheel movement was calculated when the noise was generated. queal noise occurred at the highest level at the inner front wheel; this phenomena is considered to be related to the lateral vibration response characteristics of the wheel. It can be seen that the magnitude of this squeal noise is not directly related to the increase in vehicle speed.

  • Recently, integration of parts is accelerating according to the growth of the smart mobile industry. The integration of these parts causes problems of interference phenomena between the parts, and the importance of electromagnetic wave shielding technology to solve this problem is highlighted. Electromagnetic wave shielding technology is implemented so as to reflect or absorb electromagnetic waves, and generally conductive materials are utilized for electromagnetic wave shielding. Transparent shielding technology is required according to recent industrial changes. In this research, we propose transparent the shielding film using imprint technology with conductive composite binder. Utilizing UV polymerized acrylic binder to produce a conductive composite binder. Spherical, plate and stacked silver particles were used for conductivity. The changes of the curing characteristics, conductivity and adhesion were observed according to the structural characteristics of the silver particles. The use of spherical particles was the most efficient in the curing process, and an additional curing system was required to complement the UV-shadowing structure. In the conductivity evaluation, the stacked structure showed excellent characteristics. The adhesion of spherical system was the best. It is evaluated as a result of irregularities on the surface. Ultimately, the patterned film using this showed excellent transparency characteristics.

  • The paper relates to a study on the changes in performance of insulation sheath resulting from accelerated degradation of IV and HIV insulated wire. To assume insulation degradation of IV and HIV insulated wire, accelerated life tests using Arrhenius equation were conducted among accelerated life test models, and experimental samples of 0 year, 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, and 40 years in equivalent life were produced. Whereas the maximum tensile load were increased as accelerated degradation of IV and HIV insulated wire progressed, elongation percentage, rupture time, and flexibility of insulated wires were found to be gradually reduced. According to the additional surface analysis results for the insulated wires per equivalent life using a scanning electron microscope, mechanical properties of the insulator were observed to be reduced as insulation degradation resulting from aging progressed since phenomena such as formation of crystalline structures and perforation, etc. occurred on the sample surface with progression of accelerated degradation. Consequently, institutional replacement of insulated wires and preparation of repair times considering performance degradation of the insulator installed inside buildings are considered necessary in order to prevent in advance the risks of electrical fire resulting from degradation in insulation performance.

  • This paper addressed the problems of controlling the coupled pitch-roll motions in a marine vessel exposed to the regular waves in the longitudinal and transversal directions. Stabilization of the pitch and roll motions can be regarded as the essential task to ensure the safety of a ship's navigation. One of the important features in the pitch-roll motions is the resonance phenomena, which result in unexpected large responses in terms of pitch and roll modes in some specific conditions. Besides, owing to its inherent characteristics of coupled combination and nonlinearity of restoring terms, the vessel shows various dynamical behaviors according to the system parameters, especially in the pitch responses. Above all, it can be seen that suppression of pitch rate remains the most significant challenge to overcome for ship maneuvering safety studies. To secure the stable upright condition, a quasi-sliding mode control scheme is employed to reduce the undesirable pitch and roll responses as well as chattering elimination. The Lyapunov theory is adopted to guarantee the closed stability of the pitch-roll system. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the control scheme. Finally, the control goals of state convergences and chattering reduction are effectively realized through the proposed control synthesis.

  • Recently, research and development of quantum computers, which exceed the limits of classical computers, have been actively carried out in various fields. Quantum computers, which use quantum mechanics principles in a way different from the electrical signal processing of classical computers, have various quantum mechanical phenomena such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement. It goes through a very complicated calculation process compared to the calculation of a classical computer for performing an operation using its characteristics. In order to utilize each element efficiently and accurately, it is necessary to visualize the data before driving the actual quantum computer and perform error verification, optimization, reliability, and verification. However, when visualizing all the data of various elements configured inside the quantum computer, it is difficult to intuitively grasp the necessary data, so it is necessary to visualize the data selectively. In this paper, we visualize the data of various elements that make up a quantum computer, and hierarchically visualize the internal circuit components of a quantum computer that are complicatedly configured so that the data can be observed and utilized intuitively.

  • The estuary dam is a structure installed and operated in a closed state except when flood event occurs to prevent inland saltwater intrusion and secure freshwater supply. However, the closed state of dam leads to issues such as eutrophication, so it is necessary to examine the extent of saltwater intrusion resulting from the opening of sluice gates. Groundwater, due to its subsurface conditions and slow flow characteristics, is widely analyzed using numerical models. OpenGeoSys, an open-source software capable of simulating Thermal- Hydraulic- Mechanical- Chemical phenomena, was adopted for this study. Simulations were conducted assuming natural flow conditions without dam and operating considering busy farming season, mostly from March to September. Verification of the model through analytical solutions showed error of 3.7%, confirming that OpenGeoSys is capable of simulating saltwater intrusion for these cases. From results simulated for 10 years, considering for the busy farming season, resulted in about 46% reduction in saltwater intrusion length compared to natural flow conditions, approximately 74.36 m. It may be helpful to make choices to use groundwater as a water resource.

  • Axial-flow fans are used to transport fluids in relatively low-pressure flow regimes, and a variety of design variables are employed. The tip geometry of an axial fan plays a dominant role in its flow and noise performance, and two of the most prominent flow phenomena are the tip vortex and the tip leakage vortex that occur at the tip of the blade. Various studies have been conducted to control these three-dimensional flow structures, and winglet geometries have been developed in the aircraft field to suppress wingtip vortices and increase efficiency. In this study, a numerical and experimental study was conducted to analyze the effect of winglet geometry applied to an axial fan blade for an air conditioner outdoor unit. The unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equation and the FfocwsWilliams and Hawkings (FW-H) equation were numerically solved based on computational fluid dynamics techniques to analyze the three-dimensional flow structure and flow noise numerically, and the validity of the numerical method was verified by comparison with experimental results. The differences in the formation of tip vortex and tip leakage vortex depending on the winglet geometry were compared through a three-dimensional flow field, and the resulting aerodynamic performance was quantitatively compared. In addition, the effect of winglet geometry on flow noise was evaluated by numerically simulating noise based on the predicted flow field. A prototype of the target fan model was built, and flow and noise experiments were conducted to evaluate the actual performance quantitatively.
