The Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology has advanced in many application areas. In this research, two different types, cylinder and scaffold, of implantable Drug Delivery System (DDS) were fabricated using Nano Composite Deposition System (NCDS), one of the RP systems. The anti-cancer drug (5-fluorouracil, 5-FU), biodegradable polymer (PLGA(85: 15)), and bio ceramic (Hydroxyapatite, HA) were used to form drug-polymer composite material. Both types of DDS were evaluated in vivo environment for two weeks. For evaluation, the cumulative drug release and shape stability were measured. Test results showed that the scaffold DDS provide higher cumulative drug release and has better stability than cylinder DDS.

Recently, a wide variety of simulation techniques such as structure analysis and structure-fluid interaction analysis are being employed in the field of forensic engineering for resolving the problem of legal liability for accidents and disasters. In this study, we performed a forensic engineering investigation of a sinking accident of a DCM (deep cement mixing) vessel. The accident vessel was built as a dedicated SCP (sand compaction pile) vessel at the time of vessel building, and the DCM vessel was structurally modified, e.g., by increasing the leader height and constructing for leader expansion, without a stability review. To determine the effects of expansion and modification of structures in this sinking accident, structural stability evaluation was performed using commercial software for structural analysis, ADINA software. Through an analysis and comparison of simulation results obtained using ADINA software with the results of the structural modification and expansion, we could determine the exact cause of the sinking accident of the DCM vessel.

Artificial joints are used when joints lose their function because of either the destruction or damage of the composing bones of the joints. To evaluate the primary stability of a femur-implant system, the relative displacement caused by a repeated load is measured immediately after the insertion of the artificial joint. For more accurate stability evaluation, the accurate measurement of the penetration displacement of the artificial joint to the bone and the rotation angle of the artificial joint is essential. In this study, to evaluate the primary stability of the femur-implant system, we propose a new relative displacement measurement method. By using this new method, we comparatively evaluate the primary stability for various surgical methods and the varying stiffness of the cadaver femur-implant itself.

An analysis is presented on the stability of an elastic cantilever column subjected to a concentrated follower force as to the influence of the elastic restraint and a tip mass at the free end. The elastic restraint is formed by the rotatory springs. For this purpose, the governing equations and boundary conditions are derived by using Hamilton's principle, and the critical flutter loads and frequencies are obtained from the numerical evaluation of the eigenvalue functions of the considered system.

Numerical simulation and experimental study to evaluate the critical speed of the railway bogie according to the tread inclination of wheel profile were conducted using 1/5 scale model. It has been shown that the results of the critical speed analysis for the scale bogie model is very close to the test results using scale bogie model and the critical speed is decreased in proportion to the increase of equivalent conicity of wheel profile. Results of this study show that the scale model could be applied to research area relating to vehicle stability as an alternative to overcome the experimental problems caused by full scale test on the roller rig.
The important use of the desuperheater(multi spray type) changes the superheated steam into the saturated steam. It is more efficient and suitable for using the process. Also, it is more convenient and stable regarding the process temperature control. In this study, transient and quasi-static analysis were done for the evaluation of structural integrity of the multi spray type desuperheater of the power plant. Computational analysis was used to calculate the thermal stress, and the vibration test was done to evaluate the structural stability. This paper is verified by analysis that water spray nozzle(${\phi}=28mm$) shows the best ability. The results show that structural stability of the desuperheater under the real operating condition was proven.

With the increasing amount of resources required by the society development, mining operations go deeper, which raises the requirements of studying the effects of temperature on the physical and mechanical properties of coal and adjacent rock. For now, these effects are yet to be fully revealed. In this paper, a mechanical-electromagnetic radiation (EMR) test system was established to understand the mechanical deterioration characteristics of coal by the effect of thermal treatment and its deformation and fracture characteristics under thermo-mechanical coupling conditions. The mechanical properties of high-temperature-treated coal were analyzed and recorded, based on which, reasons of coal mechanical deterioration as well as the damage parameters were obtained. Changes of the EMR time series under unconstrained conditions were further analyzed before characteristics of EMR signals under different damage conditions were obtained. The evolution process of thermal damage and deformation of coal was then analyzed through the frequency spectrum of EMR. In the end, based on the time-frequency variation characteristics of EMR, a method of determining combustion zones within the underground gasification area and combustion zones' stability level was proposed.
Due to the low strength and high compressibility characteristics, the loess deposits tunnels are prone to large deformations and collapse. An accurate stability evaluation for loess deposits is of considerable significance in deformation control and safety work during tunnel construction. 37 groups of representative data based on real loess deposits cases were adopted to establish the stability evaluation model for the tunnel project in Yan'an, China. Physical and mechanical indices, including water content, cohesion, internal friction angle, elastic modulus, and poisson ratio are selected as index system on the stability level of loess. The data set is randomly divided into 80% as the training set and 20% as the test set. Firstly, principal component analysis (PCA) is used to convert the five index system to three linearly independent principal components X1, X2 and X3. Then, the principal components were used as input vectors for probabilistic neural network (PNN) to map the nonlinear relationship between the index system and stability level of loess. Furthermore, Leave-One-Out cross validation was applied for the training set to find the suitable smoothing factor. At last, the established model with the target smoothing factor 0.04 was applied for the test set, and a 100% prediction accuracy rate was obtained. This intelligent classification method for loess deposits can be easily conducted, which has wide potential applications in evaluating loess deposits.

Meteorological Measurement was performed for evaluation of the horizontal vertical standard deviation $(\sigma_y, \sigma_z)$, surface roughness length and stmospheric stability during the period of March to October 1985 The major results are as follows; 1) The average value of surface roughness length was 144cm at NEPI. 2) In frequency distribution of atmospheric stability, neutral state (D class) was dominent in Seoul (29%) and Pusan (30%). Unstable states (A. B. C. class) were 26% in Seoul and 24% in Pusan. Also, stable states (D. E. F class) were 74% in Seoul and 76% in Pusan. 3) Standard deviations of horizontal ad vertical direction were evaluated as a function of downwind distance and atmospheric stability at NEPI, Jamsil and Pujeondong (Pusan). Standard deviation of horizontal direction was largest at NEPI among 3 areas because of mechanical turbulence resulting from difference of surface roughness length.

The objective of vehicle aerodynamic design is on the fuel economy, reduction of the harmful emission, minimizing the vibration and noise and the driving stability of the vehicle. Especially for a sedan, the driving stability of the vehicle is the main concern of the aerodynamic design of the vehicle indeed. In this theoretical study, an evaluation algorithm of aerodynamic driving stability of a vehicle was made to estimate the dynamic stability of a vehicle at the given driving condition on a road. For the stability evaluation of a driving vehicle, CFD simulation was conducted to have the rolling, pitching and yawing moments of a model vehicle and compared the values of the moments to the resistance moments. From the case study, it is found that a model sedan running at 100 km/h in speed on a straight level road is stable under the side wind with 45 m/s in speed. But the different results may be obtained on the buses and trucks because those vehicles have the wide side area. From the case study of the model vehicle moving on 100 km/h speed with 15 m/s side wind is evaluated using the numerical algorithm drawn from the study, the value of yawing moment is $608.6N{\cdot}m$, rolling moment $-641N{\cdot}m$ and pitching moment $3.9N{\cdot}m$. These values are smaller than each value of rotational resistance moment the model vehicle has, and therefore, the model vehicle's driving stability is guaranteed when driving 100 km/h with 15 m/s side wind.
