Measurement System of the Transverse Temperature Profile of Hot Rolled Strip (열간압연공정에서의 스트립 폭방향온도 모니터링시스템 개발)

  • Output and cost efficiency in the production of hot-rolled strip depend to a large content on the uniformity of geometric and mechanical properties over the length and width of the rolled end product. To ensure the homogeneous temperatures required for this during the rolling process a system to measure and evaluate the transverse temperature profile was developed and implemented in production. The systems used consist of temperature scanners and computers for measurement and data evaluation. The systems have been installed in Kwangyang hot strip mills, in the cases at the exit of the finishing train and at the entry of the coiler. They are used in production to determine the effect of the finishing train and the cooling zone on the technological properties of the hot rolled strip.

A Study on Electricity Properties of Polyethylene Terephthalate Film due to Thermally Degradation (열 열화에 의한 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트 필름의 전기 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the thermal degradation properties of polyethylene terephthalate film has been examined by the capacitance, Tan ${\delta}$, thermography, FTIR, and SEM results at temperatures of $90{\sim}170^{\circ}C$ and frequencies of 0.3~3,000 kHz. It was found that the capacitance decreased with increasing thermal imaging temperature, probably caused by weakening of chemical bond with increasing temperature. Tan ${\delta}$ decreased upon increasing temperature from $90^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$, probably due to the molecular motion of COOH radical or OH radical. The FT-IR measurement reveals that no structural change of the material occurs upon thermal radiation. The SEM measurement shows that the material is stabilized by thermal decomposition with increasing temperature; however, excessive thermal degradation obstructs the stabilization of the material.

  • In this study, The RF magnetron sputter and evaporator was on glass substrates 30 mm ${\times}$ 30 mm OMO multilayer thin film structure is applied to the low-e. Structural and optical properties, a thin film was produced, the variable was placed into a variable deposition time of the oxide layer. According to the XRD measurement results there is no peak that satisfies the Bragg's law ($2dsin{\theta}=n{\lambda}$) which confirmed that it is an amorphous structure. RMS value of the results of the AFM measurement, has a roughness of less than 2 nm. transmittance measurements results, visible light region an average 80%, IR region 40% showed.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice, brown rife and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The effect of density fluctuation, which is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation and moisture density is proposed for reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • Material characterizations were performed for In$_{0.53}Ga_{0.47}As/In$_{0.52}Al_{0.48}$/As MQWs grown on InP substrates by low-temperature modlecular beam epitaxy. MQW samples were grwon at different temperatures of 200.deg.C, 300.deg. C and 500.deg. C, and doped with 10$^{18}$ cm$^{3}$ Be. High resolution x-ray diffraction measurement showed the change in crystal qualities according to growth temperature. Hall measurement showed the changes in carrier concentrations and mobilities for different growth temperatures. The optical properties of MQW samples were investigated with photoluminescence and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy measurements.

  • In this study, P-doped ZnO thin films were prepared on sapphire substrates by pulsed laser deposition and annealing method. The electrical properties were investigated as a function of annealing temperatures at a fixed oxygen pressure. The XRD measurement showed that p-doped ZnO thin films were c-axis oriented. The Hall measurement showed that p-type ZnO thin film was observed. The carrier concentration of $1.18{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$ and the mobility of $0.96\;cm^{-3}/Vs$ were obtained for the P-doped ZnO thin film fabricated annealing temperature $850^{\circ}C$.

A Study on the Leakage Current Voltage of Hybrid Type Thin Films Using a Dilute OTS Solution

  • To improve the performance of organic thin film transistor, we investigated the properties of gate insulator's surface according to the leakage current by I-V measurement. The surface was treated by the dilute n-octadecyltrichlorosilane solution. The alkyl group of n-octadecyltrichlorosilane induced the electron tunneling and the electron tunneling current caused the breakdown at high electric field, consequently shifting the breakdown voltage. The 0.5% sample with an electron-rich group was found to have a large leakage current and a low barrier height because of the effect of an energy barrier lowered by, thermionic current, which is called the Schottky contact. The surface properties of the insulator were analyzed by I-V measurement using the effect of Poole-Frankel emission.

  • KOMPSAT-1(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite), which opened the space era in Korean peninsula, was developed from 1994 and launched successfully in December of 1999 at VAFB, USA. This paper presents a launch environment test of KOMPSAT and a short description of environment test facilities at Korea Aerospace Research Institute as well. The launch environment tests of KOMPSAT-1 satellite, such as vibration, acoustic, pyro-shock and mass properties measurement test, were performed during its system integration and test period. The participating engineers concluded that KOMPSAT-1 satellite would withstand environment during its launch period.

The magnetic properties in Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_8$ single crystal with columnar defects

  • We have studied the magnetic properties in Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_8$ single crystal with columnar defects using micro Hall-probe array. We found that fold profiles inside sample were similar to the Bean's critical state model from the magnetic hysteresis measurement. In the magnetic relaxation measurement, the normalized relaxation rates were maximum near the center and decreased toward the edge of the sample expect zero gauss. The relaxation rates as a function of the temperature were maximum near the 40K and rapidly decreased both sides of the peak.

  • In this study, the polyurethane resin was synthesized by applying PTMG and DMBA of different composition ratios for the synthesis of water-dispersible polyurethane used in wound coating resin. The varying properties of the synthesized water-dispersible polyurethane were measured through tensile strength, elongation, and abrasion resistance analysis. As for the tensile strength measurement result according to the PTMG content, the sample with the highest reaction molar ratio was measured as 1.08 kgf/mm2 and the elongation was measured as 520%. As for the tensile strength result according to the DMBA content, the sample with the highest reaction molar ratio was measured as 0.51 kgf/mm2, and the elongation was measured as 435%. The degree of surface destruction by the abrasion resistance measurement was visually confirmed through SEM.
