Evaluation of Fracture Toughness by Energy Release Rate for Interface Crack in Adhesively Bonded Joints (에너지 방출률에 의한 접착이음의 계면균열에 대한 파괴인성의 평가)

  • In this paper, the evaluation method of interfacial fracture toughness to apply the fracture toughness was investigated in adhesively bonded joints of AI/Ced./A1. Four types of adhesively bonded double-cantilever beam(DCB) joints with the interface crack were prepared for the test of interfacial fracture toughness. The experiments to measure the interfacial fracture toughness were performed under the various mixed-mode conditions. The critical energy release rate, Gc, was obtained by the experimental measurement of compliances. From the experimental results, the interfacial fracture toughness for the mixed-mode specimens is well characterized by the energy release rate, and the method of strength evaluation by the interfacial fracture toughness was discussed in adhesively bonded joints.

  • Recently, as the feasibility study shows that trans-Korea railway and trans-continental railway are advantageous, interest in high-speed railway system is increasing. Because railway vehicle is environment-friendly and safe compared with airplane and ship, its market-sharing increases gradually. KHST(Korean High Speed Train) has been developed by KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute) for last 6 years to satisfy the need. An electric railway system is composed of high-tech subsystems, among which main electric equipment such as transformers and converter are critical components determining the performance of rolling stock. We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of KHST. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. A now method to measure temperature was applied to the measurement system. By using the system, fault diagnosis and performance evaluation of electric equipment in Korean High Speed Train was conducted during test running.

  • In the study, the feasibility of landscape ecological measures as indices system for interpretation and evaluation of regional ecosystem was investigated through the application to Yongin City. Each patch metrics well showed the class structure and supplemented the class metrics, and class metrics also showed well the landscape structure and supplemented the landscape metrics. And the change analysis through subtraction of two set of landscape ecological measurement in two point of time showed the dynamic trends very well. One of the dynamic trends in Yongin City was the rapid fragmentation. While there was no landcover data on Yongin City, using Landsat data and remote sensing techniques were proved to be efficient and effective to produce the digital landcover data.

  • This study proposes the analysis method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extraction for degradation extent evaluation. Features extracted from time series data using the chaotic time series signal analyze quantitatively degradation extent. For this purpose, analysis objective in this study is fractal dimension, lyapunov exponent, strange attractor on hyperspace. The lyapunov exponent is a measure of the rate at which nearby trajectories in phase space diverge. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive lyapunov exponent. The fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical system. In experiment, fractal correlation) dimensions, lyapunov exponents, energy variation showed values of 2.217∼2.411, 0.097∼ 0.146, 1.601∼1.476 voltage according to degardation extent. The proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study can enhances precision ate of degradation extent evaluation from degradation extent results of the degraded materials (SA508 CL.3)

  • The piston prover was developed and the flow measurement uncertainty of this piston prover was evaluated according to ISO/IEC 17025. The laser interferometer, instead of the optical sensors used in the typical provers, was employed in this prover to measure accurately the testing time and the moved distance of the piston. Uncertainty was calculated with evaluation of various uncertainty factors affecting flow measurement. The expanded uncertainty (U) of the piston prover was $1.3{\times}10^{-3}$ (at the confidence level of $95\%$). This evaluation example will be useful in the flow measurement uncertainty determination of other gas flow measurement system.

  • According to Korea Standard Association (KSA-0013) storage facilities are so broadly defined that one cannot easily understand the area and contents of storage facilities. Generally speaking warehouse represents storage facilities which links two nodes in various logistics activities, and storage facilities should contain other facilities like mechanization equipment, automation equipment, information equipment, etc. This study is to show the direction of the evaluation method on the effectiveness of standardized storage facilities. The storage facilities treated in this research are not only storage facilities like warehouse but also storage supporting facilities like mechanization equipment, automation equipment, information equipment, etc. The method for evaluating the effectiveness of standardized storage facilities is to developing some measure of effectiveness (MOE) which represents the entire standardized effectiveness of storage related facilities. This study has originality in that the method for evaluation of standardized storage facilities has not been developed up to now.

  • Although the urban rail vehicle is exposed to the fire disaster, most country, except only a few advanced country, is insufficient to take a measure against the fire accident. Safety regulation modification, fire safety standard of the materials. and each material's fire resistance of the rail vehicle have been upgraded until the Daegu fire disaster in Korea. For that reason, In this study, current techniques of fire safety evaluation are analyzed and fire safety degrees of rail vehicles are compared with the change of interiors which is met to the fire safety standard of urban rail vehicle.

  • This study introduced deterioration evaluation item and criteria that could be applied to industrial facilities with the most widely used carbon steel pipe installed for ordinary piping (KSD 3507). Experimental industrial pipes were evaluated with pipe sectionalizing method combined with the established evaluation item and criteria to measure and manage semi-continuously for overall piping system. After applying outcomes from this study to a plant of incineration facility, a 42% saving in repairing and remodeling cost was achieved.

  • Concrete is the most generous, universal main structural material. There is active study for processing quality, stable quality mangement. Especially, strength is basic factor of evaluating stability of concrete building. Regaining required strength and homogeneity is very important to get self-stability in building to evaluate another characteristic. Concrete strength is important to the quality management. But, result of hardened concrete's quality test is hardly reflected to works immediately. When required strength is not enough, it could bring out safe problem, economic and administrative cost. It is pointed out that problems from strength evaluation, so early evaluation of concrete quality is required. From the trend that accelerating high quality concrete development, improving the method of quality test and early evaluation measure is urgent project. Throughout this report, it is suggested the method with use of microwave to evaluate 28-days concrete strength.

  • This paper describes a novel quantitative discomfort evaluation method based on motion data and its application to discomfort analysis of ingress/egress motions for cars. To develop the discomfort evaluation model, we introduced the discomfort regression curve and the range of motion for each degree-of-freedom of the joints of a whole human body. The maximum discomfort value for the joints at a specific time is selected to represent the discomfort value of the whole body at the time. The results of the experiments and questionnaires support the claim that our discomfort measure matches experimental subjective discomfort levels.
