The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of housework for home education. The methodology applied in this study bases on reinterpretation of references concerned with 'housework' and 'education'. The meaning of housework for home education can be analyzed in three aspects, that is, individual, domestic, and social aspect. Houseworkers be capable of developing their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social ability through houseworks. What is more, they are to internalize the culture of home and society. The meaning of housework for home education, however, has gradually been forgotten in people's mind with the appearance of rationalism of modern society. The particular process of modernization in our country has uncovered the negative aspect of housework and continually emphased that point. Thus now people consider housework as only something troublesome. The conclusion of this study is that, for the purpose of our 'noble life as man', we should recover and emphasize the importance of the meaning of housework for home education. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a finding meaning in life CD program about life-esteemed education and to identify the effect of the program. Methods: The life-esteemed education philosophy and the concepts of logotherapy were applied as a theoretical framework for this program. This program was developed through the process of planning, designing, developing, and evaluating with a content validity test. To identify the effect of the program, one experimental group design was applied to 54 students. Data were collected before the program started and one week and five weeks after the program finished. Results: The program was developed based on the students' needs and evaluation of the CD's content and consists of five periods: Dinosaur Park of Promise, Hill of Fragrance, Garden of Love, Forest of Acceptance, and My Lake. Each post-test score of knowledge, attitude, and practice on meaning of life was significantly higher than pretest scores. Conclusion: This program can be effective for life-esteemed education in elementary school students. Moreover, it is encouraged that the program will be utilized in more life-esteemed education for elementary school students.

The purpose of the study was to develop a death education program and evaluate the effectiveness of the program on the attitudes toward death, suicidal ideation and meaning in life among university students. The participants were 24 students, 11 in the experimental group and 13 in the control group. The death education program was developed and practiced with the experimental group for 8 sessions. The death education program reduced the negative attitude significantly toward death, and increased the meaning in life significantly in the experimental group. Suicidal ideation was also decreased but it was not statistically significant. There were significant differences in attitude toward death and meaning in life between the experimental and control group but not in suicidal ideation.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the level of senior nursing students' knowledge about palliative care, meaning of life, and willingness to palliative care and to identify factors affecting their willingness to palliative care. Methods: Data were collected from 192 senior nursing students at six nursing schools in four cities in Korea from December 8, 2022 to January 5, 2023. Descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple linear regression test were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean±standard deviation score of knowledge about palliative care and meaning of life were 8.44±2.20 and 146.48±19.32. Factors affecting senior nursing students' willingness to palliative care were the knowledge about palliative care (β=.18, p=.005), meaning of life (β=.36, p<.001), and motivation for admission into a nursing school based on aptitude and interest (β=.16, p=.020). Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a nursing education program for enhancing knowledge about palliative care and meaning of life to prepare the palliative care competency of nursing students.
This study has attempted to identify whether or not the effects of perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness of the elderly on a suicidal ideation is mediated by the meaning in life and, during this process, examined if social participation known as a protective factor against elderly suicide has a moderating effect. For this, a total of 403 elderly men and women residing in Honam area have been selected as the subjects of the study, among whom self-report surveys have been conducted as to perceived burdensomeness, thwarted belongingness, meaning in life (presence of meaning/search for meaning) and social participation. The mediating analysis with the use of the process macro has identified the path where the perceived burdensomeness encourages a suicidal ideation through the presence of the meaning in life. On the other hand, the thwarted belongingness has turned out to be significant only in a direct path to a suicidal ideation. The analysis results of moderated mediating effects, including social participation have found that social participation does mediate the path to a suicidal ideation caused by the perceived burdensomeness through the presence of the meaning in life, verifying its moderated mediating effects.

Purpose: This study aimed to describe the meaning of marriage and childbirth among Korean female university students living in the United States, who are influenced both by Korean culture at home and American culture in social contexts. Methods: This qualitative study used phenomenological approaches. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with five Korean female university students living in the United States. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's method to derive the meaning of marriage and childbirth. Results: From the data, 239 meaningful statements, 49 meaning formations, 22 themes, and 12 theme clusters were extracted. Additionally, five major categories emerged. These categories were 1) marriage as an opportunity for self-growth, 2) the mirror of life: parents, 3) oneself who cannot give up, 4) a desire to live a stable life, and 5) ambivalence on the culture of two countries. Conclusion: To improve the positive meaning of marriage and childbirth, a positive role model such as a happy married life of parents at home must be ensured. Finally, institutional strategies should be established to support the balance between home and work, as well as various policies which support women's pregnancy and childbirth.

Data were collected in 2013 through in-depth interviews. Individual interviews were recorded; and literary, art works and phenomenological literature were searched to identify the meaning of the experience. Results: The five essential themes of the life experience of middle-aged men who attempted suicide were 'Bitter reality confronted again', 'Anger buried deep inside', 'Broken family, inescapable fetters', 'Blocked relationships, closed world' and 'A step towards a new life'. Conclusion: The meaning of lived experience found in this study provides deep insight into the experience following suicide attempt in middle-aged men and crucial information to give directions to appropriate support and nursing interventions.

This study was conducted to evaluate the spirituality, perceived meaning in life, hospice perception, and attitudes towards terminal care among nursing students, as well as to identify the relationships between variables and examine factors influencing their attitudes towards terminal care. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire completed by 308 nursing students at two universities from April 11, 2017 to April 17, 2017. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, a t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/Win 14.0 program. Attitudes toward terminal care among nursing students were significantly correlated with hospice perception(r=0.30, p<0.001) and meaning in life(r=0.30, p<0.001). Meaning in life among nursing students was significantly correlated with hospice perception(r=0.25, p<0.01) and spirituality(r=0.53, p<0.01). The significant predictors of the attitudes towards terminal care in nursing students were hospice perception(${\beta}=0.40$, p<0.001) and meaning in life(${\beta}=0.27$, p<0.001). Hospice perception explained 22.7% and meaning in life explained 5.0% of the variance. These variables explained 27.7% of the variance in attitudes toward terminal care. Overall, these findings suggest that the terminal care education program, including hospice perception and meaning in life, is necessary to enhance the positive attitude toward terminal care among nursing students.
This study examined the structural relationship among personal belief in a just world, presence of meaning in life, self-control, and aggression in college students. For this research, self-reported data from 427 college students were analyzed by gender, using structural equation modeling. Results indicated that personal belief in a just world predicted aggression regardless of gender. The mediating effect of self-control was non-significant among both women and men groups. The mediating effect of presence of meaning in life and self-control was significant among only women. It means that personal belief in a just world predicted presence of meaning in life and self-control, which consequently contributed to aggression among women. It is noteworthy that this study examined the concrete mechanism to reduce aggression by gender. Based on these findings, intervention strategies were discussed.
