  • In this paper, an advanced successive elimination algorithm was proposed using mean absolute difference of neighboring search points. By using mean absolute difference of neighboring search points, the search point in motion estimation can be eliminated effeciently without matching evaluation that requires very intensive computations. By using adaptive MAD calculation algorithm, the candidate matching block can be eliminated early. So, the number of the proposed algrorithm was verified by experimental results.

  • An adaptive bit-reduced mean absolute difference (ABRMAD) is presented as a criterion for the block-matching algorithm (BMA) to reduce the complexity of the VLSI Implementation and to improve the processing time. The ABRMAD uses the lower pixel resolution of the significant bits instead of full resolution pixel values to estimate the motion vector (MV) by examining the pixels Ina block. Simulation results show that the 4-bit ABRMAD has competitive mean square error (MSE)results and a half less hardware complexity than the MAD criterion, It has also better characteristics in terms of both MSE performance and hardware complexity than the Minimax criterion and has better MSE performance than the difference pixel counting(DPC), binary block-matching with edge-map(BBME), and bit-plane matching(BPM) with the same number of bits.

  • Stator current spectrum by the fast Fourier transform (FFT) of current signals has been widely used for fault detection in induction motors. In this paper, we propose efficient rotor fault detection of Induction motors using stator current spectrum monitoring. The proposed method utilizes the mean absolute difference (MAD) between a Predetermined reference vector and a feature vector extracted from the stator current spectrum. Our proposed approach requires a smaller amount of computations when compared to fault detection algorithms based on neural networks, since it uses simple MAD criterion to detect rotor faults related broken rotor bars. Experimental results show that our proposed method can successively detect the rotor fault of the induction motor.

  • This study was examined for effects of acupuncture of Chok-Samni(ST36) on the facial thermography in health subjects, The volunteers who participating in this study had taken rest for 15 mins in room temperature (19-21 ℃) before the examination and informed them what to prohibit smoking, drinking and administration of drug for the previous day, The thermography of face was taken using Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging (D.I.T.I. : Dorex, DTI-16UT1, U.S.A.) by time interval of 35 minutes at 15 min before and 20 min after acupuncture stimulation. Thermal temperature of Yangbaek(GB14), Myon-koryo(ST3) and Chichang(ST4) was measured and compared, The results showed that acupuncture of Chok-Samni(ST36) decreased the Absolute difference of temperature between Myon-koryo(ST3) and Chichang(ST4) (p<0,05, Data were represented mean±S,E.M.(n=33)), But, acupuncture of Chok-Samni(ST36) particularly decreased the absolute difference of temperature between Yangbaek(GB14) and Chichang(ST4) and particularly decreased the absolute difference of temperature between Vangbaek(GB14) and Myon-koryo(ST3) (p<0,05, Data were represented mean±S,E.M.(n=33)). Also, it was observed that acupuncture of Chok-Samni(ST36) decreased variety of the color tone of thermographic contour line and decreased thermal distribution. The results showed that acupuncture of Chok-5amni(ST36) significantly decreased the absolute difference of temperature of partial facial surface. Hereafter, study about if acupuncture of Chok-Samni(ST36) significantly decrease the absolute difference of temperature of all the areas of facial surface is requested. Also, continued study of effects of acupuncture of other meridian on the facial thermography is requested.

  • This study explores whether Russian, known to have a process of syllable-final devoicing, reveals differences in vowel duration as a function of the underlying voicing of the coda stop. This paper also examines whether non-native speakers of Russian and English learn typical L2 values in vowel duration. The results indicate that vowels in Russian have a slightly longer mean duration before a voiced stop than before a voiceless stop (a mean difference of 9.52 ms), but in most cases the differences did not exhibit statistical significance. In English the mean difference was 60.05 ms, and the differences were in most cases statistically significant. All native Russian speakers of English produced larger absolute differences in vowel duration for English than for Russian, and all native English speakers of Russian produced smaller absolute differences for Russian than for English. More experienced learners seemed to achieve more native-like values of vowel duration than less experienced learners did, suggesting that learning occurs gradually as the learners gain more experience with the L2.

  • In this paper, the multi feature extraction algorithm for estimation of wrist movements based on Electromyogram(EMG) is proposed. For the extraction of precise features from the EMG signals, the difference absolute mean value(DAMV), the mean absolute value(MAV), the root mean square(RMS) and the difference absolute standard deviation value(DASDV) to consider amplitude characteristic of EMG signals are used. We figure out a more accurate feature-set by combination of two features out of these, because of multi feature extraction algorithm is more precise than single feature method. Also, for the motion classification based on EMG, the linear discriminant analysis(LDA), the quadratic discriminant analysis(QDA) and k-nearest neighbor(k-NN) are used. We implemented a test targeting twenty adult male to identify the accuracy of EMG pattern classification of wrist movements such as up, down, right, left and rest. As a result of our study, the LDA, QDA and k-NN classification method using feature-set with MAV and DASDV showed respectively 87.59%, 89.06%, 91.75% accuracy.

  • This paper presents a convergence analysis of the stocastic gradient adaptive algorithm based on the least mean absolute third (LMAT) error criteriohn. Under the assumption that the signals involved are zero-mean, wide-sense sateionaryand gaussian, a set of nonlinear difference equations that characterizes the mean and mean-squared behavior of the algorithm is derived. Computer simulation resutls show fairly good agreements between the theoetical and empirical behaviors of the algorithm.

  • The TCD is used as one of the indicators for determining whether TSV Hole is defective. If the TCD is not normal size, it can lead to contamination of the CMP equipment or failure to connect the upper and lower chips. We propose a deep learning model for measuring the TCD. To verify the performance of the proposed model, we compared the prediction results of the proposed model for 2461 via holes with the CD-SEM measurement data and the prediction results of the existing model. Although the number of trainable parameters in the proposed model was about one two-thousandth of the existing model, the results were comparable. The experiment showed that the correlation between CD-SEM and the prediction results of the proposed model measured 98%, the mean absolute difference was 0.051um, the standard deviation of the absolute difference was 0.045um, and the maximum absolute difference was 0.299um on average.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the influence of threshold value of computed tomography on the accuracy of rapid prototyping (RP) medical model Material and Methods : CT datas of a human dry skull were transferred from CT scanner via compact disk to a personal computer (PC). 3-dimensional image reconstruction on PC by V-works/sup TM/ 3.0 (CyberMed. Inc.) software and RP models fabrication were followed. 2-RP models were produced by threshold value of 500 and 800 selected in surface rendering process. Linear measurements between arbitrary 12 anatomical landmarks on dry skull, 3-D image model, and 2-RP models were done and compared. Thus, the accuracy of 500 RP and 800RP models was respectively evaluated. Results: There was mean difference (% difference) in absolute value of 2.27 mm (2.73%) between linear measurements of dry skull and 500 RP model. There was mean difference (% difference) in absolute value of 1.94 mm (2.52%) between linear measurements of dry skull and 800 RP model. Conclusion: Slight difference of threshold value in rendering process of 3-D modelling made a influence on the accuracy of RP medical model.

  • In this paper, an efficient FFT-based fault detection algorithm is proposed. In our proposed method, fault detection is accomplished by process similar to the conventional FFT-based fault detection. However, the proposed technique adopts fast algorithms for preprocessing, where the conventional operation such as averaging is replaced with recursive average operation that outperforms the former in computational cost. And, the proposed approach utilizes the feature vector with the small dimension, which is extracted from spectral components of the lower and upper sidebands around the fundamental frequency. The mean absolute difference (MAD) criterion is used to finally determine whether motor...
