  • For the vibration analysis of 3-dimensional piping system containing fluid flow, a transfer matrix method is presented. The fluid velocity and pressure were considered, that coupled to longitudinal and flexural vibrations. Transfer matrices and point matrices were derived from direct solutions of the differential equations of motion of pipe conveying fluids, and the variations of natural frequency with flow velocity for 3-dimensional piping system were investigated.

  • This paper proposes a fault-tolerant strategy for indirect matrix converter (IMC) based on the concept of four-leg matrix converter in case of an open-circuit fault in the inverter stage. The proposed strategy can maintain the same output performance as the healthy condition during the faulty condition. Some simulated results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Exploiting Chaotic Feature Vector for Dynamic Textures Recognition

  • This paper investigates the description ability of chaotic feature vector to dynamic textures. First a chaotic feature and other features are calculated from each pixel intensity series. Then these features are combined to a chaotic feature vector. Therefore a video is modeled as a feature vector matrix. Next by the aid of bag of words framework, we explore the representation ability of the proposed chaotic feature vector. Finally we investigate recognition rate between different combinations of chaotic features. Experimental results show the merit of chaotic feature vector for pixel intensity series representation.

미꾸라지로부터의 복제원점 클로닝 및 그 특성에 관한 연구 (Cloning and Characterization of Replication Origins from Misgurnus mizolepis)

  • 미꾸라지의 간으로부터 핵을 분리하여, 저농도 염추출 및 제한효소 처리로 핵기질(nuclear matrix)을 분리하였다. 분리된 핵기질을 Proteinase K로 분해한 후, phenol-chloroform 추출로 크기가 약 0.3kb-15kb의 분포를 나타내는 핵기질 부착 DNA (nuclear matrix attachment regions : MARs)를 얻었다. 효모 URA 3 유전자를 가진 2.13 kb Eco47 III 단편을 제한효소 Ssp I 으로 절단된 pUC19 플라즈미드 벡타에 결합시켜, ARS (autonomously replication sequence) 클로닝을 위한 pURY19 플라즈미드 벡타를 만들었다. 이 pURY19 벡타는 Saccharomyces cerevisiae내에서 독립적으로 복제할 수 없기 때문에, 물고기의 효율적인 발현 벡타 개발을 위해, 이 system을 이용하여, S. cerevisiae내에서 독립적으로 복제 가능한 미꾸라지의 ARS를 클로닝하고자 하였다. 분리 된 MARs를 pURY19 벡타에 결합시 킨 다음, E. coli $DH5\alpha$에 형질전환시켜 $pURY19N_{l-62}$를 얻었다. MAR Libraries $(pURY19N_{1-62})$를 각각 $Ura^-\;S.\;cerevisiae$에 형질전환시켜, S. cerevisiae내에서 독립적으로 복제 가능한 M. mizolepis 유래의 복제원점들 (ARSs)을 분리하여, Sanger's dideoxy-chain termination method로 염기서열을 분석하였다. 염기서열 분석결과 모든 clones들은 AT-rich하였으며, 특히 $pURY19N_6$에는 ARS concensus sequence, Topoisomerase II consensus, near A-box, 그리고 T-box들이 존재하였다.

Natural stiffness matrix for beams on Winkler foundation: exact force-based derivation

  • This paper presents an alternative way to derive the exact element stiffness matrix for a beam on Winkler foundation and the fixed-end force vector due to a linearly distributed load. The element flexibility matrix is derived first and forms the core of the exact element stiffness matrix. The governing differential compatibility of the problem is derived using the virtual force principle and solved to obtain the exact moment interpolation functions. The matrix virtual force equation is employed to obtain the exact element flexibility matrix using the exact moment interpolation functions. The so-called "natural" element stiffness matrix is obtained by inverting the exact element flexibility matrix. Two numerical examples are used to verify the accuracy and the efficiency of the natural beam element on Winkler foundation.

  • Circulant and multiblock circulant matrices have many important applications, and therefore their inverses are of considerable interest. A simple recursive algorithm is presented to compute the inverse of a multiblock circulant matrix. The algorithm only uses complex variables, roots of unity and normal matrix/vector operations.

  • In this article we establish multivariate cumulative sum (CUSUM) control charts based on residual vector with correlated observations. We first find the residual vector and its expectation and variance-covariance matrix and then evaluate the average run length (ARL) of the control charts.

A New SVM Method to Reduce Common-Mode Voltage of Five-leg Indirect Matrix Converter Fed Open-End Load Drives

  • This paper proposes a cost-effective topology to drive a three-phase open-end load based on a five-leg indirect matrix converter (IMC) and a space vector modulation (SVM) method. By sharing an inverter leg with two load terminals, the proposed topology can reduce the number of power switches when compared to topologies based on a direct matrix converter or a six-leg IMC. The new SVM method uses only the active vectors that do not produce common-mode voltage (CMV), which results in zero CMV across the load phase and significantly reduces the peak value of the CMV at the load terminal. Furthermore, the proposed drive system can increase the voltage transfer ratio up to 1.5 and provide a superior performance in terms of an output line-to-line voltage with a three-level pulse-width modulation waveform. Simulation and experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology and the new SVM method.

  • This paper proposes the modulation and control of a three-to-six-phase matrix converter with an asymmetrical six-phase output. The matrix converter (MC) outputs consist of two sets of three-phase spatially shifted by $30^0$, where the two sets have two isolated neutrals. The space vector approach is considered for the modeling and subsequent modulation of the three-to-six phase MC. The intelligent selection of voltage space vectors is made to synthesize the reference voltages and to obtain a sinusoidal output. The dwell times of selected voltage space vectors are adjusted in such a way that the effect of the second and the third auxiliary plane vectors (i.e., x1-y1, and x2-y2) are nullified. To achieve the maximum output voltage gain and to ensure that no reactive power is drawn from the utility supply, the input side power factor is maintained at unity. Nevertheless, the source side power factor is controllable. The modulation technique is implemented in dSPACE working in conjunction with a FPGA. Hardware results that validate the proposed control algorithm are discussed.
