필터 뱅크를 사용한 효율적인 short-length running convolution 알고리즘 (Efficient short-length running convolution algorithm using filter banks)

  • 이 논문에서는 FIR 필터의 연산의 양을 줄이는 효율적인 직접방식의 고속 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 임의의 다운샘플링 크기로 병렬화가 가능하며, 다운샘플링의 크기가 결정되면 쉽게 구조를 유도할 수 있다. 특히 제안된 알고리즘은 이론적인 샘플당 곱셈연산의 수를 감소시킴과 동시에 실제 구현에 있어서도 효과가 있음을 실험을 통하여 입증하였다. 이론적으로 연산의 양이 감소함을 보이기 위하여 부필터의 수와 샘플당 곱셈연산의 수를 기존의 고속 알고리즘과 비교하였으며, 실제적으로 구현의 효과를 입증하기 위하여 하드웨어 구현소자의 수와 MAC 프로세서를 사용한 소프트웨어 구현으로 역시 기존의 방식들과 비교하여 제안된 구조가 효과적임을 보였다.

반사 스펙트럼을 이용한 VCSEL 에피층의 두께 오차 평가 (Estimating the Thickness Errors in Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser Structures from Optical Reflection spectra)

  • vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser(VCSEL) 웨이퍼에서 측정한 반사 스펙트럼을 전달 매트릭스 방법으로 계산한 반사스펙트럼과 비교함으로써 비파괴적인 방법으로 구조적인 두께 오차가 발생한 층을 찾아 내고 오차의 크기를 추정하는 방법론을 제시하였다. DBR 층의 오차를 종합하여 나타낸 n-DBR 층의 두께 오차, 즉 유효 오차를 도입하면, 반사 스펙트럼의 모양은 유효 오차에만 의존한다는 사실에 이 방법의 근거를 두고 있다. 활성층 영역의 두께 오차는 Fabry-Perot 발진파장에만 영향을 주며, 랜덤 두께 오차의 표준 편차 값이 0.005 이하일 때에 측정과 계산된 반사 스펙트럼의 비교는 신뢰성을 갖는다. 이 방법론은 VCSEL 웨이퍼 제작시 측정되는 반사 스펙트럼을 이용하므로 비파괴적이며, 0.5 nm의 두께 오차를 찾아 낼 수 있을 정도로 정밀도가 높다.

A meso-scale approach to modeling thermal cracking of concrete induced by water-cooling pipes

  • Cooling by the flow of water through an embedded cooling pipe has become a common and effective artificial thermal control measure for massive concrete structures. However, an extreme thermal gradient induces significant thermal stress, resulting in thermal cracking. Using a mesoscopic finite-element (FE) mesh, three-phase composites of concrete namely aggregate, mortar matrix and interfacial transition zone (ITZ) are modeled. An equivalent probabilistic model is presented for failure study of concrete by assuming that the material properties conform to the Weibull distribution law. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient introduced by the statistical method is incorporated into the Weibull distribution formula. Subsequently, a series of numerical analyses are used for investigating the influence of the correlation coefficient on tensile strength and the failure process of concrete based on the equivalent probabilistic model. Finally, as an engineering application, damage and failure behavior of concrete cracks induced by a water-cooling pipe are analyzed in-depth by the presented model. Results show that the random distribution of concrete mechanical parameters and the temperature gradient near water-cooling pipe have a significant influence on the pattern and failure progress of temperature-induced micro-cracking in concrete.

Exact solutions of free vibration of rotating multilayered FGM cylinders

  • A modified Pagano method is developed for the three-dimensional (3D) free vibration analysis of simply-supported, multilayered functionally graded material (FGM) circular hollow cylinders with a constant rotational speed with respect to the meridional direction of the cylinders. The material properties of each FGM layer constituting the cylinders are regarded as heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate, and then specified to obey a power-law distribution of the volume fractions of the constituents, and the effects of centrifugal and Coriolis accelerations, as well as the initial hoop stress due to rotation, are considered. The Pagano method, which was developed for the static and dynamic analyses of multilayered composite plates, is modified in that a displacement-based formulation is replaced by a mixed formulation, the complex-valued solutions of the system equations are transferred to the real-valued solutions, a successive approximation method is adopted to extend its application to FGM cylinders, and a propagator matrix method is developed to reduce the time needed for its implementation. These modifications make the Pagano method feasible for multilayered FGM cylinders, and the computation in the implementation is independent of the total number of the layers, thus becoming less time-consuming than usual.

New twelve node serendipity quadrilateral plate bending element based on Mindlin-Reissner theory using Integrated Force Method

  • The Integrated Force Method (IFM) is a novel matrix formulation developed for analyzing the civil, mechanical and aerospace engineering structures. In this method all independent/internal forces are treated as unknown variables which are calculated by simultaneously imposing equations of equilibrium and compatibility conditions. This paper presents a new 12-node serendipity quadrilateral plate bending element MQP12 for the analysis of thin and thick plate problems using IFM. The Mindlin-Reissner plate theory has been employed in the formulation which accounts the effect of shear deformation. The performance of this new element with respect to accuracy and convergence is studied by analyzing many standard benchmark plate bending problems. The results of the new element MQP12 are compared with those of displacement-based 12-node plate bending elements available in the literature. The results are also compared with exact solutions. The new element MQP12 is free from shear locking and performs excellent for both thin and moderately thick plate bending situations.

Ultra-fine Grained Aluminum Alloy Sheets fabricated by Roll Bonding Process

  • Ultra-fine grained (UFG) Al alloys, which have submicron grain structures, are expected to show outstanding high strength at ambient temperature and excellent superplastic deformation at elevated temperatures and high strain rate. In order to get the UFG microstructure, various kind of severe plastic deformation (SPD) processes have been developed. Among these processes, accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process is a promising process to make bulky Al sheets with ultrafine grained structure continuously. The purpose of the present study is to clarify the grain refinement mechanism during the ARB process and to investigate on the effects of ultra-fine grained structure on the mechanical properties. In addition, UFG AA8011 alloy (Al-0.72wt%Fe-0.63wt%Si) manufactured by the ARB had fairly large tensile elongation, keeping on the strength. In order to clarify the reason for the increase of elongation in the UFG AA8011 alloy, detailed microstructural and crystallographic analysis was performed by TEM/Kikuchi-line and SEM/EBSP method. The unique tensile properties of the UFG AA8011 alloy could be explained by enhanced dynamic recovery at ambient temperature, owing to the large number of high angle boundaries and the Al matrix with high purity.

Zr-1.0Nb-xSn 합금의 부식거동에 대한 Sn첨가의 영향 (Effect of Sn Addition on Corrosion Behavior of Zr-1.0 Nb-xSn Alloy System)

  • To investigate the corrosion behavior of Zr-1.0Nb-xSn (x=1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5wt. %)alloy system, the corrosion tests of Zr-1.0Nb-xSn alloys were carried out in steam at $400^{\circ}C$ for 125 days and in 70ppm LiOH solution at $360^{\circ}C$ for 180 days. The matrix microstructures of the test specimens were analyzed using TEM and the oxide structures on the test specimens were analyzed using XRD. It was found from the analyses that the more Sn content the alloy had, the faster it was corroded and with the increase of Sn content in the alloy the fraction of $t-ZrO_2$ to $m-ZrO_2$ was decreased. It was also found that the alloys having more Sn showed more dislocation density than those having less.

Static FMM을 이용한 FC-PGA 패키지 핀에서의 기생 임피던스 추출 (Paratic Impedance Extraction of FC-PGA Package Pin using the Static Fast Multipole Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 균일한 유전체 내의 복잡한 3차원 구조체에 대한 효율적인 기생(Parasitic) 임피던스 성분 추출을 위하여 반복법의 일종인 GMRES(Generalized Minimal RESidual Method)와 결합된 고속 멀티폴(FMM : Fast Multipole Method) 알고리즘을 구현하였다. 이 알고리즘은 준정적 기반 고속 멀티폴 방법으로 다중 도체들 간의 임피던스를 계산하는데 있어 기존의 모멘트법(MoM: Method of Moment)이 가지고 있는 계산량과 시간의 문제를 극복하기 위한 고속화 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 기존 MoM과의 비교를 통해 FMM의 정확성과 효율성을 입증하였다. 또한 멀티폴 알고리즘을 이용하여 기존 MoM으로는 해석이 불가능한 FC-PGA (Flip Chip Pin Grid Array) 패키지 핀에서의 기생 임피던스 성분들을 추출함으로써 신호간의 간섭에 의한 EMI/EMC 문제의 발생 가능성을 확인하였다.

사각 링 마이크로스트립 안테나 해석 (Analysis of Rectangular Ring Microstrip Antenna)

  • 본 논문에서는 디세그멘테이션 기법을 이용하여 사각 링 패치 안테나를 해석하였으며, 그린함수로부터의 직사각형 세그먼트의 임피던스 계산과 평면 전자기 구조체에 대한 디세그멘테이션 방법이 논의되고 있다. 사각 링 캐버티는 큰 사각형 캐버티에서 작은 사각형 캐버티를 빼낸 구조이므로, 사각형 캐버티에 대한 그린함수의 항으로 표현된 각각의 임피던스 행렬들에 다 단자 결합법을 적용하여 사각 링 캐버티의 전체 임피던스 매트릭스를 구한다. 전자계는 8개 경계조건을 만족하는 벡터 포텐셜로부터 구할 수 있다. 각 에지에서의 전자계 분포는 여기된 모드에 따라 막대 그래프로 표현하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여 사각 링 패치 안테나의 동작모드를 분석할 수 있다.

Analysis of trusses by total potential optimization method coupled with harmony search

  • Current methods of analysis of trusses depend on matrix formulations based on equilibrium equations which are in fact derived from energy principles, and compatibility conditions. Recently it has been shown that the minimum energy principle, by itself, in its pure and unmodified form, can well be exploited to analyze structures when coupled with an optimization algorithm, specifically with a meta-heuristic algorithm. The resulting technique that can be called Total Potential Optimization using Meta-heuristic Algorithms (TPO/MA) has already been applied to analyses of linear and nonlinear plane trusses successfully as coupled with simulated annealing and local search algorithms. In this study the technique is applied to both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional trusses emphasizing robustness, reliability and accuracy. The trials have shown that the technique is robust in two senses: all runs result in answers, and all answers are acceptable as to the reliability and accuracy within the prescribed limits. It has also been shown that Harmony Search presents itself as an appropriate algorithm for the purpose.
