중학교 수학 수업에서 정수의 사칙계산의 원리에 따른 모델 선택에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Choice of Models for Teaching the Principle of Arithmetic Operations of Integers in the Middle School Mathematics Class)

  • The purpose of the study were to analyze teaching models of arithmetic operations of integers in Korean middle school mathematics textbooks of the first grade and Americans', from which we compare and analyze standards for choice of models of middle school teachers and preservice mathematics teachers. We also analyze the effect of the choice of teaching models for students to understand and appreciate number systems as a coherent body of knowledge. On the basis of that, we would like to find the best model to help students understand and reason the process of formulate the arithmetic operations of natural numbers and integers into the operation of the real number system. Furthermore, we help these series of the study to be applied effectively in the middle school mathematics class in Korea.

일본의 중학교 수학과 신교육과정 소개와 학습량 30% 감축에 대한 논의 (Critical issues of 30% reduction and introduction of the contents of the new Mathematics Curriculum at middle school in Japan)

  • The purpose of this paper was to discuss critical issues of 30% reduction and introduction of the contents for new Mathematics Curriculum at middle school in Japan in 2002. This paper consisted of three part: (1) The contents of the new mathematics curriculum in middle school in japan. (2) Discussion about critical issues of 30% reduction of the contents for new Mathematics Curriculum. (3) Proposal of the point of view about 2000 mathematics curriculum in Korea. The authors pointed out that the reduction of the mathematics curriculum in Korea should be considered of a true reduction more carefully.

수학과 서술형 평가에 대한 초·중학교 교사 간의 인식, 실행 및 기대효과에 대한 비교 연구 (A comparison of elementary and middle school mathematics teachers' beliefs and practices in constructed-response assessment)

  • This study examines whether there is discrepancy between elementary and middle school mathematics teachers' beliefs and practices in constructed-response assessment and how their beliefs and practices are interrelated. Analyzing the responses of 212 elementary teachers and 189 middle school mathematics teachers to the questionnaire, we found that there is lack of consistency among elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs, practices, and expected benefits regarding constructed-response assessment. In addition, there was a weak correlation between each group of teachers' beliefs and expected benefits about constructed-response assessment. The results from this study imply that such inconsistency in elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs and practices regarding assessments may determine the effects of constructed-response assessment.

우리나라 중학생의 수학에 대한 정의적 특성 변화와 수학 성취에 미치는 영향력 분석 (The Trend in the Korean Middle school students' Affective variables toward Mathematics and Its effect on their Mathematics achievements)

  • This study is to explore the ways in which the affective characteristics of Korean middle school students have been developed and the ways in which they have an effect on their mathematics achievements by using TIMSS (the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) data of 1995, 1999, and 2003. In addition, this study investigates the differences in affective variables between boys and girls toward mathematics. The result of the study indicates that the affective characteristics of Korean middle school students have changed a little, but that its effect on mathematics achievement increased a lot from 1995 to 2003. This study also shows that the Korean students study mathematics to get a job than to enter a university. However, girls have come to study it harder before going to college and it seems to have an impact on their mathematics scores; this happened in 1999. So we can infer from it that the decreasing in the difference between boys and girls in mathematics achievement may have been influenced by the girls' learning motivation to go to college. Lastly, it should be said that another analysis is needed to find out the reason for the devaluation of the importance of mathematics among the Korean middle school students.

중등학교 수학교사의 평가에 대한 인식 조사 (Secondary mathematics teachers' perceptions on assessment)

  • 본 연구는 중등학교 수학교사의 평가에 대한 인식을 조사하고 비교하기 위하여 진행되었다. 이를 위해 인천지역에 근무하는 중학교 188명, 고등학교 125명의 수학교사로부터 평가에 관한 6가지 영역과 과정 중심 평가에 대한 일반적인 인식에 대하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 자료는 중요도-수행도 분석기법(IPA)을 사용하여 학교급별, 경력별, 학교규모별로 비교 분석하였다. 주요 연구 결과로 대부분의 영역에서 중학교 수학교사들이 고등학교에 비해 중요도와 수행도 모두 높게 나타났다. 경력별로는 경력이 높을수록 높은 중요도-높은 수행도, 낮은 중요도-낮은 수행도가 많이 나타나고. 학교규모가 클수록 낮은 중요도-높은 수행도에 다양한 의견이 나타났다.

  • In order to educate future leaders of the new age, we should help students to increase their basic knowledge, thinking and problem solving ability. It is necessary that we should use multi-media, computer as well as old teaching-learning material to improve students' basic knowledge and to motivate their interest in mathematics in the small-sized Middle School situated on the agricultural and fishery village. In solving this problem, it is ultimately necessary that we should utilize CAI program on the learning achievement in mathematics for the students to understand basic concept, principle, law and to promote teaching-learning process considered on individual different abilities. Therefore, this study is on the effect of students' interest and learning achievement in mathematics when we develop CAI program focusing on the lesson statistics in the 3rd Grade Middle School Mathematics Textbook and explain the concept and principle of statistics through using exact and various techniques of computers

지각된 실행기능 수준이 중학생의 수학성적에 미치는 영향 (The impact of perceived executive function on the middle school students' mathematics achievement scores)

  • 수학 과목은 중고등학교 교과과정에서 매우 중요한 과목인 동시에 학생들이 가장 싫어하는 과목중의 하나이다. 본 연구는 중학생의 실제 수학성적을 예측하는 실행기능의 효과를 탐구하였으며, 이 변인의 효과가 다른 심리적 변인의 효과를 통제한 후에도 유의미한지를 검증하였다. 분석 결과 실행기능 수준은 동기와 태도변인을 통제한 후에도 그들의 수학성적을 예측하는 유의미한 변인이었다. 이 변인의 효과는 특히 수학성적이 낮은 중학생의 경우 더 강했으며, 오히려 수학성적이 높은 학생의 경우에는 생물학적 변인의 효과만이 유의미한 것으로 드러나, 성적에 따라 인지적, 심리적 요인을 고려한 다른 유형의 학습지도가 필요함을 시사하였다.

중학교 삼각형의 무게중심 단원에 대한 효과적인 지도 방안 (An Effective Teaching Method for the Centroid of Triangle in Middle School Mathematics)

  • Since the center of mass of mathematics curriculum in middle school is dealt with only on triangle and it is defined as just an intersection point of median lines without any physical experiments, students sometimes have misconception of the centroid as well as it is difficult to promote divergent thinking that enables students to think the centroids of various figures. To overcome these problems and to instruct effectively the centroid unit in middle school mathematics classroom, this study suggests a teaching and learning method for the unit which uses physical experiments, drawing, and calculation methods sequentially based on the investigation of students' understanding on the centroid of triangle and the analysis of the mathematics textbooks.
