담론적 관점에서 그래프 해석에 대한 분석틀 재구성 및 적용 -우리나라 수학 교과서와 미국 CMP 교과서 중심으로- (Reconstruction and application of an analytic framework for discursive approach to interpretations of graph -The case of a Korean textbook and CMP-)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for improvement of mathematics textbook based on discursive approach to textbook analysis that complementarily combines a communicational approach to cognition and social semiotics. For this purpose, we reconstructed an analytic framework for discursive approach to written discourses of Korean textbook and CMP, and applied it to our analysis. Results show that several characteristics in meanings were developed by the use of words and visual mediators. First, in the case of ideational meaning, there were qualitative and quantitative differences between vocabularies used and between information addressed by visual mediators. Second, in the case of structural meaning, an offer and application of procedure was emphasized in a Korean textbook, whereas expectation and selection experiences of diverse possibilities for problem solving was underlined in CMP. In the case interpersonal meaning of student-author, imperative instructions were paid attentions in a Korean textbook. In contrast, students' interdependence and active participation were stressed in CMP. Therefore, this study addressed ideas about how to analyze mathematics textbooks based on integrated meanings developed by the use of words and visual mediators. In addition, it distributes implications for improvements of Korean mathematics textbooks through the analytic framework of both mathematical meanings and interpersonal meanings of student-author.

  • The existence of at least three weak solutions is established for a class of quasilinear elliptic equations involving the p(x)-biharmonic operators with Navier boundary value conditions. The technical approach is mainly based on a three critical points theorem due to Ricceri [11].

Solving a New Multi-Period Multi-Objective Multi-Product Aggregate Production Planning Problem Using Fuzzy Goal Programming

  • This paper introduces a new multi-product multi-period multi-objective aggregate production planning problem. The proposed problem is modeled using multi-objective mixed-integer mathematical programming. Three objective functions, including minimizing total cost, maximizing customer services level, and maximizing the quality of end-product, are considered, simultaneously. Several constraints such as quantity of production, available time, work force levels, inventory levels, backordering levels, machine capacity, warehouse space and available budget are also considered. Some parameters of the proposed model are assumed to be qualitative and modeled using fuzzy sets. Then, a fuzzy goal programming approach is proposed to solve the model. The proposed approach is applied on a real-world industrial case study of a color and resin production company called Teiph-Saipa. The approach is coded using LINGO software. The efficacy and applicability of the proposed approach are illustrated in the case study. The results of proposed approach are compared with those of the existing experimental methods used in the company. The relative dominance of the proposed approach is revealed in comparison with the experimental method. Finally, a data dictionary, including the way of gathering data for running the model, is proposed in order to facilitate the re-implementation of the model for future development and case studies.

수학교육의 기호학적 적용 (Some Semiotic Applications in Mathematics Education)

  • 최근 20여 년 동안 국제적으로 기호학의 관점에서 수학교육에 대한 다양한 연구와 실천이 진행되어 오고 있다. 멀티미디어는 표현 매체이며 기호로서 수학 및 수학교육과 다양한 관계를 가지고 상호 작용한다. 수학 및 수학교육의 활동은 기호학의 관점에서 기호적 활동으로 영향력, 역할 그리고 범위가 확대될 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 기호학의 기본 개념을 소개하고 수학교육에서의 적용 가능성을 제안하였다. 개념, 표상, 사회적 구성주의, 문화와의 맥락에 관한 수학교육의 기존 연구와 기호학관점의 연구는 유사성을 갖는다. 기호학의 관점에서 산술학습, 연역법, 귀납법, 가추법과 퍼스의 기호-삼항틀 적용 사례, 기하의 명제들 사이의 퍼스-삼항틀 관계, 대칭과 증명을 다루는 기하학습 등을 제시하였다.

실세계 상황에서 수학적 모델링 과제설정 효과 (The Effects of Tasks Setting for Mathematical Modelling in the Complex Real Situation)

  • 연구의 목적은 ICME(2008,Mexico) 모델링 TSG21에서 논의한 모델일의 두 과제 설정 MMa, MeA이 학교수학에 효율적으로 적용이 될 수 있는지를 알아보는데 있다. 이 실험에서 수학과 교육과정에 적용할 수 있는 몇 가지 중요한 점을 발견했는데, 첫째는 MMa집단이 통제집단 IPS에 모델링 문항에서 성취도에 우의미한 차이를 보였고, 정보처리 문항에서도 좋은 성취수준을 보였다. 다시 말하면 모델링 MMa, MeA 교육이 가능하게 현행 학교 문제 해결 또는 개념 학습에 포함이 되고 더욱 발전 되는 시스템을 가질 수 있다. 둘째는 실험집단의 학생들이 생성한 모델링 처음 3단계 상황분석, 수학질문 구성, 모델설정에서 독특한 발견전략을 사용하였고 후반 2단계에서도 전통적 IPS 문제해결과 좋은 연결성을 보였다. 또, 실험집단 MMa, MeA 학생들이 개념적 시스템의 구성과정을 잘 이해했으며 Lesh & Sriraman(2005a, 2005b)의 개념적 시스템의 구성을 뒷받침 해 주었다. 셋째는 과제설정 MMa, MeA 간에 모델링의 사고행동인 수학적 상황 센스를 만들기(S), 창조하기(C), 확장하기(E), 재정의하기(RF)가 교실에서 활발하게 일어났다는 점이다. 따라서 Pollak등이 제언한 모델링 활동은 현행 IPS 활동과 의미 있게 교류 될 수 있다.

  • This paper was performed on the automatic selection of cutting condition on multispindle machine. the several mathematical relationships were formulated for simulataneous selection of machining parameters and tool changing scheme. In this research we used two step generative approach; step 1 is mathematical modeling for the selection of optimal cutting conditions and the other is GMDH-TYPE modeling to find prediction equation of system performance. thus in this paper, mathematical machining models combined with a heuristic GMDH-TYPE modeling to estimate the system performance, these models are developed computer programs for practical application and it was shown that the proposed approach has a good potential and offers a valuable tools to performance evaluation for metal cutting system.

Understanding of Teaching Strategies on Quadratic Functions in Chinese Mathematics Classrooms

  • What strategies are used to help students understand quadratic functions in mathematics classroom? In specific, how does Chinese teacher highlight a connection between algebraic representation and graphic representation? From October to November 2009, an experienced teacher classroom was observed. It was found that when students started learning a new type of quadratic function in lessons, the teacher used two different teaching strategies for their learning: (1) Eliciting students to plot the graphs of quadratic functions with pointwise approaches, and then construct the function image in their minds with global approaches; and (2) Presenting a specific mathematical problem, or introducing conception to elicit students to conjecture, and then encouraging them to verify it with appoint approaches.

로보트의 시변 장애물 회피를 위한 수학적 접근 방법 (A Mathematical Approach to Time-Varying Obstacle Avoidance of Robot manipulators)

  • A mathematical approach to solving the time-varying obstacle avoidance problem is pursued. The mathematical formulation of the problem is given in robot joint space(JS). View-time concept is used to deal with time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacle is viewed and approximated by an equivalent stationary obstacle. The equivalent stationary obstacle is the volume swept by the time-varying obstacle for the view-time. The swept volume is transformed into the JS obstacle that is the set of JS robot configurations causing the collision between the robot and the swept volume. In JS, the path avoiding the JS obstacle is planned, and a trajectory satisfying the constraints on robot motion planning is planned along the path. This method is applied to the collision-free motion planning of two SCARA robots, and the simulation results are given.

Surface Model and Scattering Analysis for Realistic Game Character

  • In this paper, we considered that recently 3D game characters have been almost alike realistic expression because of a great mathematical computation and efficient techniques on GPU hardware. We presented the rendering technique and analysis for 3D game characters to simulate and render mathematical approach model from recent researches to perform the game engine for the surface reflection of lighting model. We compare our approach with the existing variant rendering techniques here using Open GL shader language on game engine. The experimental result will be provided the view-dependent visual appearance of variant and effective modeling characters for realistic expression using existing methods on the GPU for effective simulations and rendering process. Since there are many operations that are used redundantly while performing mathematical operations, the necessary functions and requirements have been to compute in advance.
