Advanced tactile sensors are receiving significant attention in various industries such as extended reality, electronic skin, organic user interfaces, and robotics. The capabilities of advanced tactile sensors require a variety of functions, including position sensing, pressure sensing, and material recognition. Moreover, they should comsume less power and be bio-friendly with human contact. Recently, a tactile sensor based on the triboelectrification effect was developed. Triboelectric tactile sensors have the advantages of wide material availability, simple structure, and low manufacturing cost. Because they generate electricity by contact, they have low power consumption compared to conventional tactile sensors such as capacitive and piezoresistive. Furthermore, they have the ability to recognize the contact material as well as execute position and pressure sensing functions using the triboelectrification effect. The aim of this study is to introduce the progress of research on triboelectrification-based tactile sensors with various functions such as position sensing, pressure sensing and contact material recognition.
In this paper, the thermal effect on buckling and free vibration characteristics of functionally graded (FG) size-dependent Timoshenko nanobeams subjected to an in-plane thermal loading are investigated by presenting a Navier type solution for the first time. Material properties of FG nanobeam are supposed to vary continuously along the thickness according to the power-law form and the material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. The nonlocal equations of motion are derived based on Timoshenko beam theory through Hamilton's principle and they are solved applying analytical solution. According to the numerical results, it is revealed that the proposed modeling can provide accurate frequency results of the FG nanobeams as compared to some cases in the literature. The detailed mathematical derivations are presented and numerical investigations are performed while the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of the several parameters such as thermal effect, material distribution profile, small scale effects, aspect ratio and mode number on the critical buckling temperature and normalized natural frequencies of the temperature-dependent FG nanobeams in detail. It is explicitly shown that the thermal buckling and vibration behaviour of a FG nanobeams is significantly influenced by these effects. Numerical results are presented to serve as benchmarks for future analyses of FG nanobeams.

This study was performed to examine the anti-metastatic effect of ethanol extract of Samguikoeui-Tang (SGKE), a formula consisting of four oriental herbs, in highly-metastatic HT1080 human fibrosarcoma cells. SGKE significantly inhibited the adhesion of HT1080 cells to matrigel at nontoxic concentrations in a dose-dependent manner, while it did not exert cytotoxicity against HT1080 cells up to the concentration of 100 ${\mu}g$/ml. Also, SGKE depressed the activity of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) by gelatin zymography. However, SGKE did not affect the mRNA expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2, an inhibitor of MMP-2, by RT-PCR analysis. In addition, the effect of SGKE on HT1080 cell invasion was determined using Boyden chamber assay. SGKE suppressed the invasion of HT1080 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Taken together, these results suggest that SGKE has an anti-metastatic effect via inhibition of MMP-2 and -9 activities.

PURPOSE: In this study investigated the thermal effect in tissue mimicking phantom by the material of the ultrasonic transducer in low intensity sonication. METHODS: The material of the ultrasonic transducer was made of ceramic, stainless steel, aluminum. Korea Testing Laboratory was measured of the three kinds of materials the total output of the ultrasonic transducer. Each material was measured core temperature and the actual output depending on the type of transducer. Agarose tissue mimicking phantom and silicone tissue mimicking phantom was made. Transducers made of three kinds of materials were emitted in the phantom. It is shown as a graph about time and temperature and the surface temperature rising speed and deep temperature rise rate was investigated. RESULTS: Ceramic transducers were highest output. Higher than the stainless steel transducer, aluminum had the lowest total output. Deep temperature was the highest in the ceramic transducer, and the surface temperature was the highest in the stainless steel transducer. Thermal images of ceramic transducer showed that a valid output is formed deeper wider than the metal. CONCLUSION: Ceramic transducer is confirmed the excellence than the metal transducer in deep thermal effect and the actual output of the ultrasound.
When grains is subjected to oscillating load, the dynamic viscoelastic behavior of the material will be describe the complex modulus of the material. The complex modulus and therefore the storage modulus, the loss modulus, and the phase angle for the sample should be obtainable with a given static viscoelastic property of the material under static load. The complex relaxation moduli of the rough rice kernel were computed from the Burger's model describing creep behavior of the material which were obtained in the previous study. Also, the effects of cyclic load and moisture content of grain on the dynamic viscoelastic behavior of the samples were analized. The storage modulus of the rough rice kernel slightly increased with the frequency applied but at above the frequency of 0.1 Hz it was nearly constant with the frequency, and the loss modulus of the sample very rapidly decreased with increase in the frequency on those frequency ranges. It was shown that the storage modulus and the loss modulus of the sample increased with decrease in grain moisture content. Effect of grain moisture content on the storage modulus of the sample was highly significant than effect of the frequency applied, but effect of the frequency on the loss modulus of the sample was more significant than effect of grain moisture content.

Sand dam is a successful water harvesting method in mountainous areas with ephemeral rivers. The success is dependent on several factors including material type, hydrogeology, slope, riverbed thickness, groundwater recharge, and streamflow. In this study, the effect of a sand dam on the groundwater level in the Chuncheon area, South Korea was assessed using the MODFLOW model. Using the model, multiple scenarios were tested to understand the groundwater head before and after the construction of the sand dam. The effect of groundwater abstraction before and after sand dam construction and the sand material type were also assessed. The results show, the groundwater level increases substantially after the application of a sand dam. The comparison of model outputs, simulated groundwater head before and after sand dam application with and without pumping well, shows a clear difference in the head. The material type has also an effect on the groundwater head. As the conductivity of the material increases, the head showed a significant rise.
In this paper thermo-mechanical vibration analysis of a porous functionally graded (FG) Timoshenko beam in thermal environment with various boundary conditions are performed by employing a semi analytical differential transform method (DTM) and presenting a Navier type solution method for the first time. The temperature-dependent material properties of FG beam are supposed to vary through thickness direction of the constituents according to the power-law distribution which is modified to approximate the material properties with the porosity phases. Also the porous material properties vary through the thickness of the beam with even and uneven distribution. Two types of thermal loadings, namely, uniform and linear temperature rises through thickness direction are considered. Derivation of equations is based on the Timoshenko beam theory in order to consider the effect of both shear deformation and rotary inertia. Hamilton's principle is applied to obtain the governing differential equation of motion and boundary conditions. The detailed mathematical derivations are presented and numerical investigations are performed while the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of several parameters such as porosity distributions, porosity volume fraction, thermal effect, boundary conditions and power-low exponent on the natural frequencies of the FG beams in detail. It is explicitly shown that the vibration behavior of porous FG beams is significantly influenced by these effects. Numerical results are presented to serve benchmarks for future analyses of FG beams with porosity phases.

The purpose of this research was to develop a low Ni austenitic cast iron through replacing Ni by Cu and Mn because they are cheaper than Ni. The effect of the Cu content (6-12 wt%) on the microstructure characteristics was investigated in Fe-3%C-16%(Ni+Cu+Mn) cast iron. Contrary to general effect of the Cu on cast iron, the result of the microstructure analysis indicated that bainite and cementite were formed in high Cu content (>8 wt%Cu). A crystallized Cu-solution (Cu-Mn) phase and MnS in the Cu-solution were formed. The quantity of those phases increased as the Cu content increased. Consequently, the high Cu content in the composition ratio (Ni+Cu+Mn=16%) caused the formation of Cu-Mn/MnS and those phases decreased the effect of Cu and Mn on austenite formation. For this reason, bainite and cementite were formed in high Cu content.
In this paper, the nonlocal integral Timoshenko beam model is employed to study the free vibration characteristics of singled walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) including the thermal effect. Based on the nonlocal continuum theory, the governing equations of motion are formulated by considering thermal effect. The influences of small scale parameter, the chirality of SWCNTs, the vibrational mode number, the aspect ratio of SWCNTs and temperature changes on the thermal vibration properties of single-walled nanotubes are examined and discussed. Results indicate significant dependence of natural frequencies on the nonlocal parameter, the temperature change, the aspect ratio and the chirality of SWCNTs. This work should be useful reference for the application and the design of nanoelectronics and nanoelectromechanical devices that make use of the thermal vibration properties of SWCNTs.

This study suggests the tangent modulus $E_t$ associated with partially yielded section of steel member under axially compressed. The provisions for column strength does not provide a information about failure mode of structural system. So, designers can not evaluate that a failure comes from member buckling or material yielding. The material of the axially compressed column under inelastic behavior reaches yielding point before the axial force renders the column bent. If axial members yields not by buckling effect but gradually yielding effect of material, the design code should accept related tangent modulus Et which is based on gradual yielding effect of material. This study provides the new effective tangent modulus $E_t$ derived in the case that residual stress is 30 percent and 50 percent of yielding stress respectively. The study considers idealized I section of steel which ignores web and general I section of steel with web respectively and makes conclude that tangent modulus $E_t$ with idealized I section of steel is rational.
