The Effect of Heat Curing Methods on the Protection against Frost Damage at Early Age of the Concrete Under Extremely Cold Climate

  • This study aimed to examine whether heat curing methods of concrete subjected to $-10^{\circ}C$ could be effective by varying the combination of heating cable and surface heat insulations. Three different concrete specimens incorporating 30% fly ash with 50% W/B were fabricated to simulate wall, column and slab members with dimensions of $1600{\times}800{\times}200$ mm for slab, $800{\times}600{\times}200$ mm for wall and $800{\times}800{\times}800$ mm for column. For heat curing combinations, Type-1 specimens applied PE film for slab, plywood for wall and column curing. Type-2 specimens applied double layer bubble sheet (2LB) and heating coil for slab, and 50 mm styrofoam for wall and column curing. Type-3 specimen applied 2LB for slab, electrical heating mat for wall and column inside heating enclosure. The test results revealed that the temperature of Type 1 specimen dropped below $0^{\circ}C$ beginning at 48 hours after placement due to its poor heat insulating capability. Type 2 and 3 specimens maintained a temperature of around $5{\sim}10^{\circ}C$ after placement due to favorable heat insulating and thermal resistance.

전자식 선박디젤엔진의 엔진제어기 개발/연구 (A Development Study on an Engine Control Module of an Electronic Marine Diesel Engine)

  • A control program of an engine control module (ECM) was developed, and its control performance was verified on a 750Ps marine diesel engine. The control method was designed for an engine rotational speed control system. For ECM hardware, the commercial rapid control prototype (RCP) ECM was used. The programming tool for control algorithm development was the MatLab/Simulink. The main control algorithm assembled many control models as engine cranking, run, and stall. Each model has sub-models to input/output control signals. The target engine speed was input signal from a speed control lever, and control output signal of the ECM was sent to the unit-injectors for fuel injection. The engine test was performed under various conditions of engine rotational speeds and dynamometer loads. The test results show that the control function of the ECM is suitable for electrical marine diesel engines.

유리 섬유 강화 복합재료의 유전 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Dielectric Properties of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Composites)

  • In this study, epoxidized bisphenolic resins laminated with glass fiber mat(GFRP) are ivestigated on surface, bulk aspect and dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}'$ and ${\varepsilon}''$) vs. frequency characteristics with temperature. The investigation shows the different characteristics accordig to the attachments of fiber surface, filler content, matrix properties, and the others. Especially, dielectric properties of this sample are highly increased above $100^{\circ}C$ and decreased with the rise of frequency. There is a resonance at the high frequency region ($1MHz{\sim}10MHz$). So, dielectric properties show the shift with frequency and temperature. Dielectric properties of EGL 10 are higher than those of EGL 40 with the frequency. Generally, dielectric properties of EGL 10 are more unstable than those of EGL 40 on the shift of frequency and temperature.

Effects of the Support Surface Condition on Muscle Activity of Trunk Muscles during Balance Exercises in Patients with Stroke

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the muscle activity of the trunk muscles during balance exercises on a stable and unstable surface in patients with stroke. Methods: Thirteen subjects (8 males, 5 females) with stroke were enrolled in the study. Muscle activity was recorded using surface EMG electrodes from the affected side of the erector spinae, external oblique, and internal oblique muscles. The exercise was performed under three conditions. For the first condition for balance exercise, subjects were instructed to sit on an exercise mat with legs extended. The second condition was to sit with legs extended, with a balance pad under their buttocks. The third condition was to sit with legs extended, have a balance pad under the buttocks and a balance cushion under the lower legs. Results: This study showed significant differences in EMG activities during both arm lifting exercise and weight shifting exercise between conditions. This study showed that the EMG activities of the erector spinae, external oblique, and internal oblique muscles were significantly higher when the trunk exercise was performed using the balance pad with balance ball than when using the stable surface. Conclusion: In conclusion, performing balance exercises using an unstable surface is a useful method for facilitating trunk-muscle strength and hence trunk stability.

Effect of PBD to improve soft marine sedimentary ground

  • The effect of plastic board drains (PBDs)on ground improvement was checked out considering three crucial factors: ground settlement, undrained shear strength, and residual water head. First, the settlement analysis including initial settlement induced by reclamation of sand mat was conducted by back calculation analysis with measured data. Its result showed toot the PBDs used for this site worked well on improving soft ground. Secondly, the undrained shear strength was investigated by laboratory and in-situ tests including unconsolidated-undrained triaxial compression (UU) tests, unconfined compression tests, in-situ vane tests, and cone penetration tests. From the test results, they showed that the undrained shear strength of the improved ground by PBDs was significantly increased as well as the strength increasing ratio especially $10{\sim}15m$ below the ground surface on site. Thirdly, the residual water head measurement from the in situ dissipation test was found the same as the static water head, which indicated primary consolidation was completed and the effect of soil improvement with PBDs can be confirmed.

폐쇄공간 송수관로 수역내 민물담치의 생태특성 (Ecological Characteristics of Limnoperna fortunei in an Enclosed Facility of Water Supply Pipeline)

  • In this study, the ecological characteristics of Limnoperna fortunei were surveyed as a preceding research to solve the problem such as biofouling or biowaste caused by those organisms in the closed water pipeline. Limnoperna fortunei was collected not in the main reaches of Somjin River but inside and outside of the intake tower which is located in the lower part of Sueo Reservoir. The dense populations were found at the inlet mouth and near part of the pipeline. Their byssuses were formed as a thick and tightly interwind mat. The rusted parts of the pipeline hold relatively more shells than those of the normal parts. Average count of the numbers ranged $12.1{\sim}136.5ind./m^2$ through the sampling stations (A,B and C). The amount of attached shells at each station were A=386, B=258, and C=71, respectively. The relationships of shell height-length and shell length-width were proportional. The majority sizes in each station ranged A=20.01~22.00 mm (33.9%), B=10.01~14.00 mm (51.2%), and C=18.01~20.00 mm (22.5%), 24.01~26.00 mm (21.1%), respectively. Most of the bigger size of shells on C station was found dead. The ecological habitat seemed less suitable for Limnoperna fortunei when they located farther away from the intake tower of reservoir. From now on, it is necessary to consider the continuous monitoring of this organism.

금속 알콕사이드로부터 PSZ-seeding Mullite 복합체의 합성 및 소결체의 특성 (Synthesis of PSZ-seeding Mullite Composite from Metal Alkoxides and Its Characteristics of Sintered Body)

  • Mullite-PSZ composite was prepared by sol-gel method using $Al(sec-OC_4H_9)_3,\;Si(OC_2H_5)_4,\;ZrOCl_2\;8H_2O\;and\;Y_2O_3$. The sinterability ana mechanical properties of powder compacts sintered at $1,650^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs were investigated for various PSZ contents. In result Al-Si spinel formed at $980^{\circ}C$ from amorphous dried gel, and zirconia as well as mullite crystal formed above $1,200^{\circ}C$. The sintered body was densified to $97{\sim}98%$ except the specimen containing 25vol% PSZ which showed the relative density of about 95% obtained by sintering at $1,650^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The flexural strength of the sintered body was a maximum value of 290 MPa in 20 vol% PSZ, which was also considerably larger than the value of 200 MPa without PSZ. The value of the fracture toughness increased linearly with increase of PSZ content and showed a maximum value of $4.3MPam^{1/2}$ in 25 vol% PSZ, Namely this value was remarkably larger than the $value(2.6MPam^{1/2})$ of pure mullite without PSZ.

파모티딘-양이온 교환수지 복합체의 약물방출 특성 및 흰쥐에서의 체내동태 (Drug Release Characteristics of Famotidine-Cationic Exchange Resin Complexes and Their Pharmacokinetics in Rats)

  • Ion exchange resin complexes of famotidine have been prepared by the reaction of famotidine solution with activated ion exchange resins. Complex formation efficiency between famotidine and ion exchange resin was about $80{\sim}90%$ in average, calculated by HPLC determination. Drug release characteristics from the resin complexes were evaluated by the modified percolation method. Famotidine release was dependent on the type of ion exchange resins. In the case of weakly acidic resin complexes, the cumulative released amount of famotidine was more than 90% for 1hr in pH 1.2 buffer solution. However, in the case of strongly acidic resin complexes, it was less than 5% for 3hr in the same medium. Strongly acidic resins revealed some advantages over weakly, acidic resins for overcoming instability of famotidine in gastric juice. In addition, strongly acidic resin complexes showed controlled release of famotidine in pH 6.8 buffer solution, showing the result of about 60 to 70% of drug release for 5hr. After oral administrations of famotidine-resin complexes to rats as dose of 40 mg equivalent/kg, the pharmacokinetic parameters of famotidine were obtained by model independent analysis and compared with those of famotidine solution or suspension. $C_{max}$ of famotidine-resin complex was lower than that of famotidine solution or suspension. MRT, MAT, and MDT of the complexes were greater than those of famotidine solution or suspension. From these results, it was expected that famotidine was released slowly from the complexes and absorbed continuously into systemic circulation. It was recognized that drug release from the complexes was the rate-limiting step in drug absorption, since there were close correlations between in vitro drug release and in vivo pharmacokinetic parameters.

반응 용탕단조한($Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+Ni$)/Al 하이브리드 금속복합재료의 제조 및 특성 (Fabrication and Properties of Reaction Squeeze Cast ($Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+Ni$)/Al Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites)

  • Mechanical properties of ($10%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+5%Ni$)/Al hybrid composites fabricated by the reaction squeeze casting were compared with those of ($15%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2$)/Ai composites. Al-Ni intermetallic compounds ($10{\sim}20 {\mu}m$) formed by the reaction between nickel powder and molten aluminum were uniformly distributed in the Al matrix. These intermetallic compounds were identified as $Al_3Ni$ using X-ray diffraction analysis and they resulted in beneficial effects on room and high temperature strength and wear resistance. Microhardness values of ($10%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+5%Ni$)/Al hybrid composite were greater by about 100Hv than those of ($15%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2$)/Al composite. Wear resistance of ($10%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+5%Ni$)/Al hybrid composites was superior to that of ($15%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2$)/Al composites regardless of the applied load. While tensile and yield strength of ($10%Al_2O_3{\cdot}SiO_2+5%Ni$)/Al hybrid composites were greater at room temperature and $300^{\circ}C$, strength drop at high temperature was much smaller in hybrid composites.

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum에 의한 포도나무 균핵병 발생 (Sclerotinia Shoot Rot of Grapevine (Vitis spp.) Caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in Korea)

  • 경기도 가평과 강원도 영월에서 포도나무 가지가 수침상으로 물러지고 시들어 죽는 증상을 관할하고 병원균을 분리였다. 병원균의 균총은 PDA 배지에서 처음에는 무색이었으나 배양기간이 길어짐에 따라서 흰색을 거쳐 연한 초콜릿색을 나타내었다. 균핵형성 적온은 $20^{\circ}C$이었으며, 균핵을 멸균한 모래의 1~2 cm 깊이에 매몰하고 $20^{\circ}C$ 항온기에서 90일간 배양하여 자낭반 형성을 유도하였다. 자낭반은 자루가 가늘고 긴 컵 모양의 황갈색이었고 원통형의 수많은 자낭이 존재하였으며 자낭 안에서는 무색, 타원형이며 단세포로 된 8개의 자낭포자를 관찰할 수 있었다. 자낭포자의 크기는 $8.2{\sim}24.4{\times}3.6{\sim}7.2{\mu}m$ 정도였다. 병원성을 확인한 결과, 캠벨얼리와 거봉 품종 모두에서 병원성을 확인할 수 있었으며 상대적으로 캠벨얼리 품종이 감수성을 나타내었다. 이상과 같이 포도나무에 발생한 병징, 병원균의 균학적 특징 및 병원성 검정 결과, 병원균을 Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary으로 동정하였으며, 이 병을 포도나무 균핵병으로 명명할 것을 제안한다.
