  • Lithium (Li) is a key resource driving the rapid growth of the electric vehicle industry globally, with demand and prices continually on the rise. To address the limited reserves of major lithium sources such as rock and brine, research is underway on seawater Li extraction using electrodialysis and Li-ion selective membranes. Lithium lanthanum titanate (LLTO), an oxide solid electrolyte for all-solid-state batteries, is a promising Li-ion selective membrane. An important factor in enhancing its performance is employing the powder synthesis process. In this study, the LLTO powder is prepared using two synthesis methods: sol-gel reaction (SGR) and solid-state reaction (SSR). Additionally, the powder size and uniformity are compared, which are indices related to membrane performance. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy are employed for determining characterization, with crystallite size analysis through the full width at half maximum parameter for the powders prepared using the two synthetic methods. The findings reveal that the powder SGR-synthesized powder exhibits smaller and more uniform characteristics (0.68 times smaller crystal size) than its SSR counterpart. This discovery lays the groundwork for optimizing the powder manufacturing process of LLTO membranes, making them more suitable for various applications, including manufacturing high-performance membranes or mass production of membranes.

먹이영양과 물만들기에 따른 붉은쏨뱅이(Sebastiscus tertius) 자어의 성장과 생존 (Effects of Feed Nutrition and Green Water on Growth and Survival of Red Marbled Rockfish(Sebastiscus tertius) Larvae)

  • 붉은쏨뱅이의 인공종묘생산을 위하여 자어의 성장과 생존에 영향을 미치는 초기먹이생물의 영양학적인 측면과 수질안정을 위한 첨가물들의 농도에 대하여 조사하였다. 영양가치가 다른 먹이생물로 rotifer를 배양하여 자어에게 공급하였을 때 농축 Chlorella로 배양된 rotifer를 공급하였을 때 전장의 성장이 11.90 mm로 가장 좋았으며 생존율은 유지효모로 배양한 rotifer를 공급한 실험구가 47.0 %로 가장 높게 나타났다. Rotifer를 영양강화 시킨 후 먹이로 공급하였을 때의 super selco로 영양강화시킨 실험구에서 전장과 체중이 각각 13.0 mm, 12.7 mg로 가장 좋은 성장을 보였으며 생존율도 48.0 %로 가장 높게 나타났다. Artemia의 경우는 다른 실험구와 성장차이는 보이지 않았으나 생존율에서는 super selco로 영양강화한 실험구에서 비교적 높게 나타났다. 먹이종류에 따른 자어의 성장은 rotifer+Artemia+배합사료를 공급한 실험구에서 전장과 체중이 각각 18.4 mm와 18.1 mg으로 가장 좋았고, 생존율에 있어서는 rotifer+Artemia 실험구가 57.5%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 물만들기는 Chlorella 농도가 10×105 cells/ml인 실험구에서 전장과 체중 성장이 각각 11.83mm와 14.3mg로 나타나 가장 효과적이였던 것으로 나타났으며 생존율은 20×105 cells/ml 실험구에서 54.5%로 가장 높게 나타났다 PSB의 첨가 효과는 PSB 농도가 15×105 cells/ml 실험구에서 전장과 체중이 각각 13.98mm와 13.15mg으로 가장 좋았으며 생존율은 PSB 농도 10×105 cells/ml 실험구에서 61.0 %로 가장 높게 나타났다.

  • 리포좀을 제조하는 방법으로 여러가지 알려져 있다. 그 중 Bangham법이 가장 간단하며 일반적으로 많이 이용되어 왔다. 소규모 실험 수준에서는 효과적으로 리포좀을 제조할 수 있지만 유기용매 제거의 어려움과 지질막 형성에 반응기 크기 등의 문제로 대규모 생산을 할 수 없다는 문제점이 있다. 반면 톤(t) 단위로 대량생산이 가능한 Emulsion Method는 균일한 입자를 가진 리포좀으로 제조가 가능하나 포집률이 현저히 낮은 단점이 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서 높은 포집율과 안정성을 향상시킨 Heating Method으로 리포좀 최적의 공정방법을 개발하여 포집률, 입자크기, 제타전위 및 SD rat에 경구 투여하여 흡수율 실험을 수행하였다. 약 214 nm의 작고 균일한 리포좀을 형성하였고, 포집률은 Emulsion Method는 26.46%, Heating Method는 38.67%으로 Heating Method법을 제조된 리포좀이 높은 포집률을 보여주는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 혈중 농도 대비 모든 군에서 1.5-2배 정도 증가한 경향을 보여주었고, 4-12 hr까지 점차 낮아지는 양상을 나타냈다. Ascorbic acid powder의 혈중 최고 농도는 약 12.017 ㎍/ml, Emulsion Method 리포좀 13.871 ㎍/ml, Heating Method 리포좀은 16.322 ㎍/ml 순으로 ascorbic acid powder보다 향상된 흡수율 결과를 보여주었다.

한국 스포츠문화의 지향점과 선진화 대안 찾기 (Finding Pointing Spot of Korean Sports Culture and Alternative to its Advancement)

  • 이 연구는 한국 스포츠문화의 현재성을 살펴보고, 지향점과 선진화 대안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 첫째, 학교체육의 현재성은 가장 중요한 스포츠문화의 토대임에도 모순으로 가득 차 변화의 속도가 더디고, 엘리트스포츠는 학교체육이 정상적으로 운영되어 연계될 때 안정된 영역으로써 존재의 가치를 지닐 것이며, 대중스포츠는 그동안 국가의 체육정책이 엘리트스포츠에 집중된 관계로 자생력이 부족하다고 진단하였다. 둘째, 스포츠문화의 지향점은 아직도 승리제일주의에 매몰되어 있음을 강조하였고, 스포츠문화의 새로운 지향점으로 스포츠컬처리즘이 스포츠의 선진화 의식임을 강조하였다. 따라서 스포츠문화의 지향점은 승리제일주의에서 휴머니즘에 기반을 둔 스포츠컬처리즘으로의 변화 가능성이 확장될 것으로 기대하였다. 셋째, 스포츠문화의 대안 찾기는 우선 학교체육진흥법 제정이 중요한 의미를 지니며 학교체육 정상화를 위한 개정의 필요성도 요구된다. 다음으로 엘리트스포츠의 주요문제로써 체육단체의 비윤리성, 승부조작, 심판오심 등을 설정하였고, 각 영역의 대안도 설정하였다. 마지막으로 대중스포츠는 시대적 중요성을 담아내기 위한 생활체육법이 제정되어야함을 역설하였다.

  • If we may practice the nutrition education planned on the basis which carefully grasped the inappropriate behavioral determinants of middle-school students, it might be an effective method achieving the change in perception and behavior improving the distorted perception about the ideal body shape, so we are to suggest the 8 week program of body shape perception improvement for successful nutrition education as follows. The body shape perception improvement program is a step-by-step group consulting program. At the introduction stage, we let them understand the meaning of true beauty and body change of teenage period and forming of sexual identity. At the stage of perception conversion, we let them have the opportunity to observe the status of body perception of the teenager and self-observation. At the stage of correction, we let them criticize the distorted body image in the society with mass media at the same time with the self-reflection. At the stage of maintenance and evaluation, we suggested the behavior guidance while preparing it. Setting this as the basis, we applied the contents such as the evaluations through cultural sharing events making somethings while directly participating. As the target groups to practice education were middle school students, we considered the learning level and behavioral features of the middle school students, and composed the programs including the methods such as role play, watching real things, media production, discussions and experiences. If the program of body shape perception improvement developed at this study could be utilized at the field of schools, the teenagers can change their ways of thought naturally avoiding the view about unified appearance rightly perceiving negative self-image that the teenagers can have and if the group consulting can be practiced regularly at each school, many students may experience the change in perception, so it might solicit the improvement of health of the families and local societies as well as that of the individual student.

침향(沈香)의 국내외 연구동향과 본초학에 대한 문헌고찰 (Agarwood's Domestic and International Research Trends and Literature Review of Herbal Medicine)

  • Objectives : To investigate the modern research achievements of agarwood and its association with the efficacy of herbal medicine based on the in vivo and in vitro activities of volatile compounds detected in agarwood. Methods : Databases such as PubMed and ScienceOn were searched for medicinal in vivo and in vitro activity studies on agarwood. They were categorized into "medicine and pharmacy" and "others not related to medicine and pharmacy," and the studies on medicine and pharmacy were organized according to active efficacy. The efficacy and virtue of agarwood as identified in the book (or herbal medicine/herbology) corresponded to modern medical terms and diseases in reference to the . Separately, the Gas Chromatography & Mass spectrometer (GC-MS) analysis results of agarwood from a total of 5 production areas of Aquilaria crassna from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Cambodia as identified in previous studies were consulted to search for research papers on the medicinal activity of the 13 compounds of the aromatic sesquiterpene family detected in agarwood, and they were categorized according to topic. Results : There were 123 studies on the medicinal activity of agarwood. Overall, 46 studies on single extracts of agarwood reported activities such as improving mental health, including anti-anxiety and stability, and antiallergic, antioxidant, antibacterial, and digestive system protective effects. In total, 59 papers on the activities of single compounds isolated from agarwood reported anti-inflammatory and mental health benefits. Separately, 13 compounds detected in agarwood, such as α-agarofuran and β-caryophyllene, were reported by 110 studies to have anticancer, stabilizing, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities. There were also papers on the cultivation methods and resin formation conditions of agarwood trees unrelated to the efficacy of herbal medicine. Conclusion : Among the pharmacological papers, a total of 57 papers corresponded to the effects of agarwood in traditional herbal medicine, including 33 papers related to agarwood extracts and 24 papers analyzing 8 types of sesquiterpenes, such as β-caryophyllene and cedrol, from previous studies. Based on the research findings of each paper, it was possible to correlate the effects of agarwood in traditional herbal medicine with the achievements of modern pharmacological research. In addition, further research is anticipated in new areas related to traditional herbal medicine, including the improvement of mental health such as anti-depression, as well as activities related to anticancer, antioxidant, and hair growth.

Production of a New Biosurfactant by a New Yeast Species Isolated from Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc.

  • Biosurfactants reduce surface and interfacial tension due to their amphiphilic properties and are an eco-friendly alternative for chemical surfactants. In this study, a new yeast strain JAF-11 that produces a biosurfactant was selected using drop collapse method, and the properties of the extracts were investigated. The nucleotide sequences of the strain were compared with closely related strains and identified based on the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit ribosomal DNA (LSU) and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions. Neodothiora populina CPC 39399T, the closest species with strain JAF-11, showed a sequence similarity of 97.75% for LSU and 94.27% for ITS, respectively. The result suggests that the strain JAF-11 represents a distinct species that cannot be assigned to any existing genus or species in the family Dothideaceae. Strain JAF-11 produced a biosurfactant reducing the surface tension of water from 72 mN/m to 34.5 mN/m on the sixth day of culture and the result of measuring the critical micelle concentration (CMC) by extracting the crude biosurfactant was found to be 24 mg/l. The molecular weight 502 of the purified biosurfactant was confirmed by measuring the fast atom bombardment mass spectrum. The chemical structure was analyzed by measuring 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 13C NMR, and two-dimensional NMRs of the compound. The molecular formula was C26H46O9, and it was composed of one octanoyl group and two hexanoyl groups to myo-inositol moiety. The new biosurfactant is the first report of a compound produced by a new yeast strain, JAF-11.

Purification and Characterization of Mitochondrial Mg2+-Independent Sphingomyelinase from Rat Brain

  • Sphingomyelinase (SMase) catalyzes ceramide production from sphingomyelin. Ceramides are critical in cellular responses such as apoptosis. They enhance mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization (MOMP) through self-assembly in the mitochondrial outer membrane to form channels that release cytochrome c from intermembrane space (IMS) into the cytosol, triggering caspase-9 activation. However, the SMase involved in MOMP is yet to be identified. Here, we identified a mitochondrial Mg2+-independent SMase (mt-iSMase) from rat brain, which was purified 6,130-fold using a Percoll gradient, pulled down with biotinylated sphingomyelin, and subjected to Mono Q anion exchange. A single peak of mt-iSMase activity was eluted at a molecular mass of approximately 65 kDa using Superose 6 gel filtration. The purified enzyme showed optimal activity at pH of 6.5 and was inhibited by dithiothreitol and Mg2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, and Fe3+ ions. It was also inhibited by GW4869, which is a non-competitive inhibitor of Mg2+-dependent neutral SMase 2 (encoded by SMPD3), that protects against cytochrome c release-mediated cell death. Subfractionation experiments showed that mt-iSMase localizes in the IMS of the mitochondria, implying that mt-iSMase may play a critical role in generating ceramides for MOMP, cytochrome c release, and apoptosis. These data suggest that the purified enzyme in this study is a novel SMase.

Optimal flammability and thermal buckling resistance of eco-friendly abaca fiber/ polypropylene/egg shell powder/halloysite nanotubes composites

  • Upon direct/indirect exposure to flame or heat, composite structures may burn or thermally buckle. This issue becomes more important in the natural fiber-based composite structures with higher flammability and lower mechanical properties. The main goal of the present study was to obtain an optimal eco-friendly composite system with low flammability and high thermal buckling resistance. The studied composite consisted of polypropylene (PP) and short abaca fiber (AF) with eggshell powder (ESP) and halloysite clay nanotubes (HNTs) additives. An optimal base composite, consisting of 30 wt.% AF and 70 wt.% PP, abbreviated as OAP, was initially introduced based on burning rate (BR) and the Young's modulus determined by horizontal burning test (HBT) and tensile test, respectively. The effects of adding ESP to the base composite were then investigated with the same experimental tests. The results indicated that though the BR significantly decreased with the increase of ESP content up to 6 wt.%, it had a very destructive influence on the stiffness of the composite. To compensate for the damaging effect of ESP, small amount of HNT was used. The performance of OAP composite with 6 wt.% ESP and 3 wt.% HNT (OAPEH) was explored by conducting HBT, cone calorimeter test (CCT) and tensile test. The experimental results indicated a 9~23 % reduction in almost all flammability parameters such as heat release rate (HRR), total heat released (THR), maximum average rate of heat emission (MARHE), total smoke released (TSR), total smoke production (TSP), and mass loss (ML) during combustion. Furthermore, the combination of 6 wt.% ESP and 3 wt.% HNT reduced the stiffness of OAP to an insignificant amount by maximum 3%. Moreover, the char residue analysis revealed the distinct differences in the formation of char between AF/PP and AF/PP/ESP/HNT composites. Afterward, dilatometry test was carried out to examine the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of OAP and OAPEH samples. The obtained results showed that the CTE of OAPEH composite was about 18% less than that of OAP. Finally, a theoretical model was used based on first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) to predict the critical bucking temperatures of the OAP and OAPEH composite plates. It was shown that in the absence of mechanical load, the critical buckling temperatures of OAPEH composite plates were higher than those of OAP composites, such that the difference between the buckling temperatures increased with the increase of thickness. On the contrary, the positive effect of CTE reduction on the buckling temperature decreased by raising the axial compressive mechanical load on the composite plates which can be assigned to the reduction of stiffness after the incorporation of ESP. The results of present study generally stated that a suitable combination of AF, PP, ESP, and HNT can result in a relatively optimal and environmentally friendly composite with proper flame and thermal buckling resistance with no significant decline in the stiffness.

니체의 허무주의가 재현된 애니메이션의 연출적 특성 -<진격의 거인>을 중심으로 (Directorial Characteristics Depicting Nietzschean Nihilism in Animation: A Focus on 'Attack on Titan')

  • 니체의 허무주의 주창 이후 많은 문학, 드라마, 영화에서 허무주의와 연관한 인간 심리에 대한 묘사가 이루어졌으며, 애니메이션 또한 허무주의를 담아낸 서사가 TV 시리즈와 극장용 애니메이션으로 제작되고 있다. 특히, 애니메이션은 여타 매체와 달리 어떠한 상상의 이미지도 구현할 수 있는 시각 영상매체로써 실사 촬영 영상과 다른 특성을 보이며, 시간적 속성을 가짐으로써 만화와 차별된다. 이에 본 연구는 니체가 정의한 허무주의의 세 단계가 어떻게 애니메이션 캐릭터에서 재현되고, 어떠한 상황을 연출하는지 애니메이션 <진격의 거인>을 사례로 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위한 연구의 전개는 첫째, 니체의 허무주의의 유형과 세 단계에 대해 문헌을 중심으로 고찰하고, 대중매체에 재현된 허무주의와 애니메이션의 특성에 대해 살펴본다. 둘째, 문헌연구에 기초하여 사례분석 대상의 서사와 구축된 세계관을 통해 허무주의적 관점에서 해석하며, 수동적 허무주의, 능동적 허무주의, 영원회귀의 삶의 세 단계 허무주의를 통해 네 명의 주요 등장인물을 분석한다. 그 결과 해당 애니메이션은 자신의 삶과 존재의 의미를 향한 부정과 긍정이라는 두 가지 메시지를 전달하며, 이를 통해 관객들은 인간의 실존에 대해 심도 있게 고찰할 기회를 맞이한다. 본 연구는 니체의 허무주의가 대중오락 매체인 애니메이션에서 어떻게 재현되는지 살펴볼 수 있는 연구라 사료된다.
