  • This study aims to theoretically examine the validity of argument that market-opening will improve the audience welfare of media and cultural contents. To accomplish its purpose, first of all, this study classifies the spectrum of approaches on cultural market-opening in Korea. Then, it examines, by the concept of public goods, whether market-opening can bring on economic gains for audience as consumer. Finally, this study inspects the profit and loss for audience as citizen which will be brought on by market-opening on the grounds of democratic value. As a result of this study, the improvement of economic efficiency and competence, the expansion of consumer‘s choices, the preservation of cultural value that the positive approach on market-opening is promising cannot be justified theoretically and logically. Therefore, at least in theoretically, the conclusion that market-opening cannot improve the audience welfare is deduced. However, the objection of market-opening cannot be related to the distorted protectionism of nation culture. On the contrary, this study suggests the condition of market-opening debate must be a opportunity to reconsider and reform of cultural diversity in Korea.

  • This study aims to deal with hospital staff's recognition on the opening of the medical services market, their attitude to the opening - agreement and disagreement, and their intention to use a foreign hospital or to consult its doctors again. It was conducted for 450 employees of one university hospital located in Gyeonggi Province, Korea with systemized questionnaires. The main results of this study are as follows: First, Medical technicians showed the highest level recognition on the opening of the medical services market. Second, The percentage of agreement to the opening was the highest for medical technicians and lowest for doctors while that of agreement was the highest for doctors and lowest for nurses. For residents, among doctors, the percentage of disagreement was the lower than that of agreement. Third, the intention to use a foreign hospital and to consult its doctor again was the lowest for medical engineers and the highest for doctors. Fourth, The most urgent task for local hospitals to accomplish in response to the opening was the improvement of the diagnosis and treatment technologies for nurses, and the improvement of the service provided by the hospital staff for the others. For doctors, in particular, the improvement of the diagnosis and treatment technologies was just the fourth urgent task. In conclusion, the result varies to the type of occupation. Apparent difference was found for doctors, in particular, that seem to be directly affected by the opening of medical services market. Local hospitals and doctors, therefore, should make efforts together to improve the diagnosis and treatment technologies. All the hospital employees of every type of occupation, meanwhile, need to prepare for the opening with medical service of improved quality.

  • There hardly have been support policies for small wholesale vendors or any materials such as proper statistical standards and figures compared to diversity of support policies and size of budget for small and medium manufacturing business. The biggest concern coming from it is that there have never been any policies for small and medium wholesale vendors. This study proposes some ways to improve support policies through investigating the current status of those vendors as their true values haven't been properly recognized, while diverse support systems have been devised for manufacturing business thanks to the traditional industrial development process. According to the study on support policies for domestic and international small and medium wholesale vendors, I realized that those vendors need a policy to ensure them to be promptly adjusted to the rapidly changing distribution environment and to be competitive to access to the global distribution market to finally become hidden champions through systematical operations of small and medium wholesale vendors and implementing educational business through sales management. Therefore, I propose five ways to improve support policies for small and medium wholesale vendors by considering social and economic value, systematizing small wholesalers and scaling small and medium wholesale vendors, reinforcing support for wholesalers, support policies for new online market opening and offline market opening.

  • This study attempts to classify 1008 alley markets in Seoul through cluster analysis using Dynamic Time Warping, one of the methods used to analyze the similarity of time series, and evaluate the possibility of opening new stores. The sequence of the gross sales of an alley market and that of gross sales per store stand for the potential of growth and profitability of the market, respectively and are used as variables for cluster analysis. Five clusters are obtained for the gross sales and four clusters for the gross sales per store. These two types of clusters are again classified as rising and falling trends, respectively, and the combination of these trends produces four categories. These categories are used to evaluate the possibility of opening new stores in alley markets. The results show that the southeast which is relatively wealthy inferior to other regions in opening new stores. Alley markets in the northeast and the southwest are better than other regions such that opening a new store is justified. In the northwest, there are many markets with trend of gross sales and that of gross sales per store moving in opposite directions, and new store openings in these markets should be postponed.

  • This paper investigates the effectiveness of economic policy on the stock market in Korea around foreign currency crisis and stock market opening. For this purpose, the paper applied SUR technique to a set of monthly data over the period 1982.01 to 2004.12. The study finds the following results. First, for the entire sample period, Korean stock market appears to have effectively incorporated all of the past information about fiscal policy moves. However, the paper finds an evidence that some of the past monetary actions have significant impacts upon current stock returns implying that the information about past monetary moves has been overlooked. Second, there is an evidence to suggest that, after foreign currency crisis, the macro economic policy actions may influence stock market in a different way. In particular, after foreign currency crisis, monetary policy influences stock market in a more delayed pattern while past fiscal policy moves are well incorporated into current stock returns. Third, before stock market opening to foreign investors, some of the past economic policy actions have significant effects on current stock returns. On the contrary, after stock market opening, none of the past macro economic information has significant impact upon current stock returns. The results imply that stock market opening may contribute to the active utilization of economic information for market participants in Korea.

Thus, this article explore international norms which encompass cultural market and its stakeholder through Global Governance frame. Specifically, first, this article review the theory of Global Governance.
