청소년의 약물 사용과 비행 실태 - 충청남도 일부 고등학교 3학년 학생을 중심으로 - (The Status of Drug Use of Juveniles and their Deliquent Behaviors -Based on those of Boys and Girls on the Third Years)

  • This study had conducted to push our society for getting some proper measures of the anti-drug abuse and adopting this study as a fundamental data for the school health education. Sample subjects were the 3rd grade of high school in Chungnam Province and the number were 1,014. The data had been collected on Dec. 3th-8th, 1990 according to the tool of Institute on Drug Abuse of Korea. And then Frequency and $x^2-test$ were need to analyse of data by SPSS-X program. The results of this study could be summarized as follows. 1. They had used 14 kinds of drugs: $70.1\%$ of the subjects students used alcohol, $69.2\%$ analgesics, $38.6\%$ cigarette, $15.0\%$ stimulants, $14.7\%$ antitussives, $11.2\%$ antithistamines, $8.9\%$ hypnotics, $7.1\%$tranquilizers, $4.2\%$ inhalants, $2.3\%$ marijuana, $1.4\%$ hallucinogens, $0.9\%$ cocaine, $0.6\%$ amphetamines, and $0.6\%$narcotics. The boys' drug using rate is higher than girls' except in analgesics and stimulants. 2. With respect to misbehaving, $43.0\%$ of the students said they had pop houses, $42.4\%$ adult video, $17.4\%$ unexcused absence from school, $11.0\%$ dangerous weapon, $9.1\%$ sexual intercourse, $70.1\%$ disappearance from home, 8.0% blackmail, and $6.0\%$ assault. In every kinds of misbehaving, the boys' misbehaving rate is higher than the girls'. 3. Almost every kinds of drugs have the students first used at the age of 15 through. 18. And $13.8\%$ of the students smoked every da·y and $1.7\%$ drank every day. 4. The frequency of the drug using such as cigarette (p<.01), marijuana (p<.05), cocaine (p<.05) and narcotics (p<.05) showed the stastically significant differences according to the religions of the subjects 5. The subjects who has complaints about someone use more drugs than the ones who doesn't, and who doesn't have any complaints about five elements have never used drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, narcotics, hallucinogens, and inhalants. 6. The drug using subjects have the more experiences of adult video, pop houses, and unexcused absent from school than the non-drug using ones. It means that the subjects who use drug were apt to do misbehaving more often than the ones who have never used them, and delinquent boys and girls use more drugs.

고체상 추출과 GC/MS를 이용한 소변 중 대마 대사체 (THCCOOH) 분석 (Determination of 11-nor-9-carboxy-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH) in human urine by solid-phase extraction and GC/MS)

  • 소변 중 대마 남용여부를 판별하는데 기준이 되는 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)의 대사체 성분인 11-nor-9-carboxy-${\Delta}^9$-tetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH)를 고체상 추출법 (solid-phase extraction, SPE)과 가스크로마토그래피/질량분석법 (GC/MS)을 이용하여 신속하게 분석 할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 본 실험은 시험관에 소변 3 mL를 취해 염기성 (pH 10) 조건에서 가수분해 한 후, 양이온교환 카트리지를 사용하여 THCCOOH 성분을 선택적으로 추출하고, 증발 건고한 다음 유도체 반응을 시켜 GC/MS로 분석하였다. 그 결과 분석방법의 검출한계 (LOD)는 0.4 ng/mL이고, 정량한계 (LOQ)는 1.2 ng/mL이였다. 검정곡선의 직선성 상관계수 ($r^2$)는 1.2 (LLE는 1.3)~50.0 ng/mL의 농도범위에서 0.999를 나타내었다. 그리고 정밀도 (precision)와 정확도 (accuracy)는 모두 ${\pm}1.20%$ 이내로 안정적이었으며, 회수율(recovery)은 83.6~90.7%로 측정되었다. 액체상 추출법 (liquid-liquid extraction, LLE)과 비교할 때, SPE 방법이 회수율은 낮았지만 검출한계, 정량한계, 정밀도 및 정확도에서는 큰 차이가 없었다. 그러나 LLE 방법은 추출과정에 시간과 노력이 많이 드는 반면, SPE 방법은 상대적으로 추출 조작이 간편하고 신속하게 추출되었으며, 추출 잔류물도 깨끗하였다. SPE를 이용한 추출방법을 다수의 대마 흡연자 소변에 적용하였을 때 기존에 사용하던 LLE 방법보다 간편하고, 신속하게 대마 대사체 분석이 가능하였다.

Metabolic Activation of Marijuana Constituents, Cannabinoids, in Relation to Their Toxicity for Human and Its Oxidation Mechanism

  • Many oxidative metabolites of tetrahydrocannabinols (THCs), active components of marijuana, were pharmacologically active, and 11-hydroxy-THCs, 11-oxo-${\Delta}^8$-THC, 7-oxo-${\Delta}^8$-THC, 8$\beta$, 9$\beta$-epoxyhexahydrocannabinol (EHHC), 9$\alpha$, l0$\alpha$-EHHC and 3'-hydroxy-${\Delta}^9$-THC were more active than THC in pharmacological effects such as catalepsy, hypothermia and barbiturate synergism in mice. Cannabidiol (CBD), another major component, was biotransfomred to two novel metabolites, 6-hydroxymethyl-${\Delta}^9$-THC and 3-pentyl-6, 7, 7a, 8, 9, lla-hexahydro-I, 7-dihydroxy-7, 1O-dimethyldibenzo[b, d]oxepin (PHDO) through 8R, 9-epoxy-CBD and 85, 9-epoxy-CBD, respectively. Both metabolites exhibited some pharmacological effects comparable to d9 - THe. Cannabinol (CBN), the other major component, was mainly metabolized to ll-hydroxy-CBN by hepatic microsomes of animals including humans. The pharmacological effects of the metabolite were higher than those of CBN demonstrating that II-hydroxylation of CBN is metabolic activation pathway of the cannabinoid as is the case in THCs. Tolerance and reciprocal cross-tolerance developed to pharmacological effects d8 - THC and ll-hydroxy-d8-THC , and the magnitude of tolerance development produced by the metabolite was significantly higher than that by d8-THC. The results indicate that ll-hydroxy-d8-THC has an important role not only in the pharmacological effects but also its tolerance development of d8 - THe. THCs and their metabolites competed to the specific binding of CP-55, 940, an agonist of cannabinoid receptor, to synaptic membrane from bovine cerebral cortex. The Ki value of THCs and their metabolites were closely paralleled to their pharmacological effects in mice. A novel cytochrome P450 (cyp2c29) was purified and identified as a major enzyme responsible for the metabolic activation of d8-THC at the II-position in the mouse liver. cDNA of CYP2C29 was cloned from a mouse cDNA library and its sequence was determined. The oxidation mechanism of THC by cyp2c29 was proposed.

미국의 PHDCN 데이터를 사용한 Akers의 사회구조 및 사회학습이론에 대한 다층적 회귀분석연구 (An examination of Akers' Social Strcture and Social Learning Model with PHDCN Data)

  • 본 연구는 Akers의 사회구조 및 사회학습이론에 근거하여 미국의 아동과 청소년이 거주하는 지역의 사회환경적 특성들이 이들의 알콜, 담배 그리고 마리화나 사용에 어떠한 과정을 거쳐 영향을 미치는 가를 이해하고자 하였다. 미국의 PHDCN 데이터(총 1,791의 아동과 청소년)와 미국의 센서스데이터를 다층적 회귀분석방법을 이용하여 분석한 결과 사회구조 및 사회학습이론의 주장이 부분적으로 지지하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 비행친구와의 차별적접촉이 중재역할 뿐만 아니라 조정의 역할도 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그 외 연구의 결과, 형사정책적 함의, 그리고 한계점 등이 논의되었다.

Racial Discrimination and Substance Use among Korean American Adolescents

  • Purpose: The goal of this study was to examine the association between perceived racial discrimination and substance use and the potential moderating effect of perceived parental affection between the two variables. Methods: A total of 101 Korean American adolescents participated in this cross-sectional study utilized an online survey. Descriptive statistics were used to describe for means and frequencies and the patterns of substance use. Logistic regression analysis was also used to examine the association between perceived discrimination and substance use. Results: Ninety percent of the participants reported perceiving racial discrimination, and 21% had used at least one kind of substance in the month prior to taking the survey. The most frequently used substance was alcohol, followed by marijuana and tobacco products. Logistic regression analysis revealed a link between perceived racial discrimination and substance use (OR = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.01, 3.00). However, parental affection did not moderate between racial discrimination and substance use. Conclusion: These findings suggest that perceived racial discrimination is positively associated with substance use among Korean American adolescents, and health care providers, counselors, and school nurses should screen for discrimination-related stress and substance use in this population.

의료용 대마(大麻)의 이해 및 법적 규제에 대한 고찰: 대마의 치료적, 학술적 필요성 제고 (Understanding of Medical Cannabis and its Regulations: A Suggestion for Medical and Scientific Needs)

  • In traditional medicine, Cannabis sativa L. has been used for variety of reasons. Old literatures delineate that Cannabis had been used as anesthetic and analgesic, or to reduce symptoms such as cough, paralysis and so on. Although Cannabis has a long history of medical use, it is illegal in many countries including South Korea. Controversy over decriminalization of Cannabis to allow cannabis for therapeutic use has been around for many years. In order to understand current knowledge on the therapeutic use of medical Cannabis, comprehension of cannabinoids and other constituents of Cannabis is important. Here we reviewed the pharmacological effect of Cannabis and current mandatory regulation over Cannabis in many countries to suggest necessity of research on medical Cannabis.

Use of natural ingredients in Japanese quail diet and their effect on carcass and meat quality - A review

  • The present paper reviews the findings of different research studies on the effect of natural ingredients in the Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) diet on carcass characteristics and meat quality. The results show a relationship between the type and concentration of ingredients used in diets and carcass characteristics and meat quality. The inclusion of medicinal herbs (thyme, black seed, and mint), plants (canola), seeds (chickpea), spices (cinnamon and coriander), worms (earthworms), bee products (propolis), phytochemicals (lycopene), and edible fungi (common mushrooms) in the diet improved carcass quality characteristics compared to the control diets (basal diets). The inclusion of medicinal herbs (spearmint and green tea), spices (cinnamon), vegetables (tomato), plants (verbena and canola), seeds (marijuana), and edible fungi (oyster mushrooms) improved meat quality. In conclusion, the use of ingredients of natural origin in the diet of Japanese quail improves carcass quality characteristics and meat quality.

유흥업소 종사자들의 약물남용과 비행경험 실태 (Drug Abuse and Delinquency among Employees of Public House)

  • In a survey of drug abuse of fourteen types of drugs by employees of public house, the results are follows. $87.4\%$ of male and $82.1\%$ of female ever smoked in his/her life time. $82.2\%$ of male and $75.2\%$ of female smoked in the past month. $90.4\%$ of male and $93.9\%$ of female ever drank in his/her life time. $82.2\%$ of male and $81.6\%$ of female in the past month. $57.8\%$ of male and $54.9\%$ of female smoked daily and $27.4\%$ of male and $53.6\%$ of female drank daily. $3.9\%$ of the employees of public house ever used marijuana in his/her life time: $1.7\%$, stimulants : $5.6\%$ inhalants : $10.0\%$ tranquilizers: $14.6\%$, hypnotics : $32.9\%$ analgesics: $3.7\%$, antitussives: and $1.4\%$, antihistamines; $1.5\%$, cocaine; $0.0\%$ amphetamines; $0.6\%$ narcotics: and $4.71\%$, hallucinogens. Drug use and delinquency showed a dosed relationship: drug users committed higher degree of delinquent behaviors and delinquents used drugs more frequently.

Prevalence of Drug Abuse and Smoking and Dietary Behavior of Male Students at Technical High School

  • To investigate the relationship between eating behavior and the prevalence of adolescents drug abuse and smoking, this survey was conducted among 349 male students(mean age ; 16.0 $\pm$0.9yrs) at technical high schools in Kyunggi-Do. It was shown that 58.7% of total subjects were smoking and 11.2% were abusing drugs. Drug abusers weighed Less than non-abusers especially, student smokers were 2.7kg lighter than non-smokers despite the same height. Although parents' education showed no relationship with drug abuse, educational level of student smokers' fathers was significantly lower than that of non-smokers' fathers. Drug abusers and smokers showed significantly higher incidence of runaway from home, absence from school without notice, and parents' divorce than non-abusers and non-smokers. Drugs abused were sleeping pills(n=20), bonds and butane gas(n=9), marijuana(n=3), tranquilizer(n=3), morphine and cocaine(n=2), and pep pills like amphetamine(n=2) 76.9% of the drug abusers had their first experience in junior high school and 81% of the smokers stared smoking as early as in junior high school. Also, 44% of the smokers reported that they smoke daily. The drug abusers tended to have more irregular eating habits than the non-abusers. The smokers showed irregular mealtime, ate either too fast or too slow, and especially, often skipped lunch or dinner. The drug abusers and smokers took little vegetable in their meals and often ate bread or noodles instead of rice for staples. In addition, they preferred taste to nutrition when they had meals. The smokers tended to ingest smaller amount of calcium source such as milk or dinner food and fish with bone although they consume more volume of total foods than the non-smokers. All subjects took less in calorie, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, riboflavin, and folic acid than the Recommended Dietary Allowance Those findings suggest that drug abuse and smoking cause bad eating habits that influence unbalanced nutritional state. Therefore, nutrition education should be provided to the adolescents so that they can recognize the disadvantages of drug and smoking and its relation to dietary relation. 예방적 측면에서 본 일본 청소년의 약물남용자의 특징 -약물남용자와 비남용자의 비교 연구- (Prevention and the characteristics of drug abusers among Japanese junior high school students : A comparative study of drug users and non-drug users)

  • The aim of this study was to research and compare the demographic characteristics of drug abusers with non-drug abusers among junior high school students in Japan through a closed format questionnaire. The same questionnaire and face-to-face interviews were used in order to find the circumstances of drug abuser among Kyogoin(a sort of child welfare institution) students in Japan. The goal of the study was to provide basic materials for preventive education of drug abuse through the two investigations mentioned above. Between July 1993 and November 1993, the information for this study was collected from 964 students from 4 junior high schools, and also 142 students from 3 Kyogoin in Japan. A total of 1106 questionnaires were completed resulting in a following response rate of 90.4%. Information was based on the scales : family relation scale, school life scale, recognition on danger of drug abuse scale, family environment scale (Moos, 1986), self esteem inventory (Coopersmith, 1967), etc. The conclusions can be summarized as follows : 1. Drug abusers are more likely to lake communication in their families and have poorer human relations than non-drug abusers. Also their school life scores tended to be lawer non-drug abusers. 2. It was between their 6th year of elementary school and their first of Junior high school when the drug was first used. The drug of choice which they made their first attempt at using was a volatile solvent which was inhaled. It is likely that this drug is "gateway-drug" for adolescents in Japan because they then also tried other drugs (e.g. cocaine, marijuana, etc.) step by step. 3. It is therefore clearly important that greatly increasing education on the harmful effects of drug abuse before the summer vacation of the first term of the sixth year of elementary school. At the same time, intervention in the family will have an effective prevention strategy in Japan, as well., as well.
